    If you happen to see this 0 review and go "what the hell is this idiot review bombing for" hear me out. I was wrote excited to play this game. And I'm sure other ports of this game are good. But don't play the switch version. The load time is insane. There was the expectation that the loading screen for new areas might be long, but when you die in the game you also get a loading screenIf you happen to see this 0 review and go "what the hell is this idiot review bombing for" hear me out. This should not be the case just to respawn your character. And this game has some notoriously difficult portions. The loading screen became far to annoying for me to continue playing.… Expand

    The game assets constantly load in blurry then take a few seconds to become clear. Even in 1080p game is pixelated and loads like **** The characters feel like they are moving through sand. I went back to play the old one to see if I was crazy. My andriod phone running a gamecube emulator plays it better than the new thats ,"optimized for the switch". Hopefully a patch fixes it.     Ill be completely honest. I hated the new battle for bikini bottom game. I played the original a few years after it came out and i loved it. I still love it, ive played and completed it multiple times. So when the remake was announced, i got incredibly excited. I had such high hopes for it. And then the trailers a month ago came out. My excitement turned to dissatisfaction. But i still hadIll be completely honest. I hated the new battle for bikini bottom game. I played the original a few years after it came out and i loved it. I still love it, ive played and completed it multiple times. So when the remake was announced, i got incredibly excited. I had such high hopes for it. And then the trailers a month ago came out. My excitement turned to dissatisfaction. But i still had faith. I played the rework day one. It was awful. The game play was bad in the sense of being either too fast in animations making the game itself seem less polished or in the sense of it being buggy. Everything felt wonky. Me and my wife tried the multiplayer and it was horrible. Some characters didnt correctly hit or register being hit, some models wouldnt even load in, attacks were slow and the actual damage and the animation almost never played at the same time. The waves were tedious. The knockback was rediculous and robo squidwards attacks were either incredibly easy to dodge because of the indicators showing up on time, or impossible as the indicator showed up late and the model never showed. The most frustrating thing was the music.On the main screen it was loud and vibrant, on the boss fights it was annoyingly quiet. Even at full, the volume still sounded muffled. I really wanted to like this game. But I just cant. Its just too bad. I had high hopes from the devs.I cant believe im saying, or rather writing this, but i wish there was a day one patch, no matter how big, i would appriciate just abit more polishing of the game. Ill give the game a 1 for the nostalgia and excitement i used to have.… Expand

    BAD music - almost no music at all but only repetitive violin sound BAD sound effects - all you can hear is sponge bob jumping and swinging sound BAD gameplay design - no clear indication which stage you are at and sponge bob DIE when he GETS INTO WATER If you die you can revive RIGHT ON TOP of a    Seriously who designed this game?

    -loading screens are LOOOOOOONG!
    -lack of modern features such as a centering camera behind player button and customization outfits
    -Clancy Brown still does not voice Mr. Krabs
    -Inflated Shiny Object requirements for Mr. Krab's spatulas
    -Animations and sound effect bugs

    SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated is a faithful remake of the game originally released in 2003. The game has great graphics, multiplayer mode, extensive levels and collectible items. However, it is worth noting the low level of difficulty in the story mode and considerable falls in frame rate at sometimes. Still, it is a great choice for lovers of 3D platform games.

    A perfect example of nostalgia glasses. In short, this may be a hidden gem, but it is completely representative of its time. 2D Platformers have long moved on, and this deserved some overhaul to the core gameplay, instead of just a graphical improvement and a tacked-on multiplayer experience. The soundtrack is a perfect encapsulation of the game as a whole. Utterly charming for the first few moments, but then each track repeats again. And again. And again. One note. Those who enjoyed the first may find themselves questioning why they did, should they dive into the murky waters here.

    Battle for Bikini Bottom felt as much a battle to play at times as it did to defeat those robots. It’s great to see a cult classic get a fresh lick of paint, but style over substance just isn’t enough.
