Spelunker Party! Is a hardcore yet cute platformer that you can play in its entirety with up to four players locally or online. What a novelty.

Easily considered a “remastered” version of Spelunker World, Spelunker Party comes to Switch without its free-to-play features, but with the fun and gameplay intact and with a multiplayer version that adds more to the overall experience. Despite some minor issues, the game can be easily picked up by people of all ages and its addictive gameplay is an ideal suggestion to fans of handheld gaming who can play it on the go, alone or with their friends.

While Spelunker Party is definitely not your traditional platformer, playing through the game either solo or with a group is great fun. Though completionists will not be able to collect everything on their own, the quality of the game and sheer amount of things to do make this a great game to pick up. If the large number of items there are to collect in each level do not keep you feeling rewarded, the solving of increasingly difficult platforming sections will.

Spelunker Party is worth checking out, especially if you never played through some of the content before in Spelunker World. There’s a lot of levels to play through, and the progression system via gear and leveling will keep you pushing forward. The additional challenge makes for a more engaging experience than some like-minded platformers in this style, and the co-op is fun provided you can find people to play with. Definitely check this out when you get a chance, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Spelunker Party! is long, challenging and fun, no matter if you want to play alone or with friends. It could have more diverse levels or more options, but it still is a very solid choice.

Spelunker Party is fine. It’s not likely to be a permanent fixture in your Switch for months to come but as a half-decent diversion it gets the job done, most notably in co-op.

Awesome game. It's hardcore in its gameplay, it's fun! Playing multiplayer it's even better! I've waited so long for this game! The only shameAwesome game. It's hardcore in its gameplay, it's fun! Playing multiplayer it's even better! I've waited so long for this game! The only shame is be a digital only release :( And import doesn't work, because the english localization doesn't work on the hard copy...

So, I bought digital, but still want to import for my collection and yes, I will double dip.

In terms of Gameplay. You can't change the direction of your jump in mid-air. Once you jump you commit to that jump, you can't fix your mistake once you've made the jump.
I noticed this as soon as I had played the first 15 seconds of the first stage.

Another problem i have with the game is that if you fall, (and you will at some point) even if it's just a small one. You die. That's right, if you fall even a tiny height you lose a life. This is a huge problem.
It's a Spelunky game. You don't just die from falling a tiny height (or lose a heart if it wasn't Party-), it's a problem. And you have to rely on ropes that only the stage gives you to use. You can't just place ropes anymore. You can only place bombs (which have way too big blast radius's, by the way), and that's it. Also, the Whip doesn't exist anymore, you just have this little pistol thing that sprays water (ice?) to begin with. You can upgrade it, but that's it.

And yes, I do understand that this is a game directed toward children, but also to people of all ages.
But these problems presented that you can see it's a huge turn-off to people like me, who's played a Spelunky game before and knows about how it's played.

    The story is simple.
Meteor comes too close to the planet (Earth?) and crashes.
Ghosts start popping up and monsters (Animals?) are more agressive now.
Basically, meteor does bad stuff, your job (and possibly three other people who join you) is to fix that by going through caves.
Also, there's a King Fairy and you don't start as Spelunky (No-one really knows his name, and the game calls him Spelunker, but I'm not calling him that), you start as Spelunkette. Now the first thing that I thought was "What kind of name is this?" it's really un-original, but again; Simple game for children.

I have no issue with the music, but I don't like it either. Anyways. That's all I have to say about the game.
