Oct 19, 2017Spelunker Party! Is a hardcore yet cute platformer that you can play in its entirety with up to four players locally or online. What a novelty.
-
Nov 11, 2017Easily considered a “remastered” version of Spelunker World, Spelunker Party comes to Switch without its free-to-play features, but with the fun and gameplay intact and with a multiplayer version that adds more to the overall experience. Despite some minor issues, the game can be easily picked up by people of all ages and its addictive gameplay is an ideal suggestion to fans of handheld gaming who can play it on the go, alone or with their friends.
-
Oct 25, 2017While Spelunker Party is definitely not your traditional platformer, playing through the game either solo or with a group is great fun. Though completionists will not be able to collect everything on their own, the quality of the game and sheer amount of things to do make this a great game to pick up. If the large number of items there are to collect in each level do not keep you feeling rewarded, the solving of increasingly difficult platforming sections will.

Oct 25, 2017Spelunker Party is worth checking out, especially if you never played through some of the content before in Spelunker World. There’s a lot of levels to play through, and the progression system via gear and leveling will keep you pushing forward. The additional challenge makes for a more engaging experience than some like-minded platformers in this style, and the co-op is fun provided you can find people to play with. Definitely check this out when you get a chance, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
-
Oct 23, 2017Spelunker Party! is long, challenging and fun, no matter if you want to play alone or with friends. It could have more diverse levels or more options, but it still is a very solid choice.
-
Nov 2, 2017Is this game worth it on the Switch? If you have a child that is too young for Mario (that is a possibility) or other Switch titles, then this one is actually not a bad way to get them going in gaming. The price is right ($29.99) and since it’s multiplayer you can experience it with them. The difficulty might be a sticking point here and there, but maybe it will make them a better gamer. Regardless, it’s a good title and worth having on the Nintendo Switch.

Feb 21, 2018Spelunker Party! offers a rather meaty package that will certainly provide dozens of hours of gameplay to the right audience, those able to stand the controls and difficulty or are looking for that sort of experience. Such people certainly exist out there and, while of course the unfairness certainly doesn't reach the levels of the NES or 8-Bit computer versions, the stiffness and accuracy required when playing still feels like something from a different age that won't necessarily appeal to everybody. With that in mind, however, Spelunker Party!, like other Spelunker games, chooses that approach on purpose so as to appeal to its fan-base and certainly does succeed in that regard! It is, therefore, a fairly good rendition of the series on Nintendo Switch that should lend itself well to multiplayer Spelunker parties amongst fans both online and locally, on the go.

Dec 19, 2017Long and difficult but a bit repetitive, Spelunker party is a good choice for old school gamers that want a title to show their children how challenging games used to be.
-
Nov 20, 2017If you’re a fan of Spelunker, then you likely have this game already. There is a demo if you’re on the fence about it, and if the demo isn’t a good fit for you then you should know the full game is a lot more of the same. Once I got used to the punishing mechanics I enjoyed the game more, but its platforming isn’t for everyone and the game makes no effort to help you get better at it. I recommend playing the demo first. Overall, Spelunker Party is a decent addition to the Switch if you’re willing to spend the time to learn it.

Oct 26, 2017Spelunker Party! on the Nintendo Switch provides some brutally challenging old school mechanics that works better in multiplayer.
-
Oct 25, 2017Spelunker Party! is the return of one of the most demanding platforms. Do not be fooled by its aesthetics, these mines are infernal.
-
Nov 2, 2017Even though Spelunker Party! is a fun and challenging game, it sadly feels monotonous after some hours. You might enjoy playing with your friends but there are better multiplayer experiences in the Nintendo Switch catalog.
-
Oct 30, 2017Spelunker Party! hearkens back to the old days of platformers, featuring simple yet challenging gameplay. Playable individually, Spelunker Party! is likely at its best when played with others. For those looking for a simple, classic platformer, this game is likely to be right up your alley. On the other hand, players should not go into this expecting something more contemporary. Overall, Spelunker Party! is what it sets out to be, and it does it well.
-
Oct 26, 2017Another entry in the Spelunker franchise that resembles the already enjoyed in the previous chapter Spelunker World with minor changes.
-
Oct 24, 2017There's still much to be enjoyed in Spelunker Party, but this transition as a premium product is a little shallow.
-
Nov 9, 2017Spelunker Party, much like the original game it's based on, can be a hard game to love, but if you're prepared to dig deep with some friends, it can be a gem.
-
Oct 26, 2017Overall Spelunker Party! is a solid entry in the series and a fun multiplayer game if you have the right people to appreciate its charms. The item upgrade progression will have you spelunking for treasure to unlock more abilities, and there are plenty of levels ranging in difficulty to choose from. The online components are a nice bonus, as well as having detachable Joy-Cons right at your finger tips. While the level designs can feel uninspiring, and the gameplay can feel completely unforgiving, Spelunker Party! executes creating an acceptable cooperative platforming game, but nothing really more than that.
-
Oct 21, 2017The Switch could always use another multiplayer game and Spelunker Party! is a good addition to the ever expanding library. It’s challenging, both in reasonable and unfair ways, and it’s length gives players a lot of levels to play through. It might not be something pulled out for newcomers and guests at a party, but it could be a good match for those looking to play together in something that lasts a little longer.
-
Nov 20, 2017Overall, Spelunker Party! is a solid time. It’s easy to pick up and play, which is good for a title that clearly wants multiple people joining in. The cheap deaths that the game subjects players to can be real momentum killers, but once you find yourself in a groove, it’s hard to not want to keep going from stage to stage. With over 100 stages to explore and no micro transactions to speak of, this is a much better value than its predecessor and helps make Spelunker Party! another worthy addition to Switch’s library.
-
Oct 30, 2017If you're after a fun little multiplayer platform game, Spelunker Party! will briefly fill that void. Sadly, it falls short of a recommendation thanks to its steep price and outdated design choices. For now, you'd be better off either waiting for a price cut, or looking elsewhere.
-
Oct 25, 2017Spelunker Party! is a challenging, classic game, with a ton of levels and objects to customize our avatars. But it’s repetitive and some gameplay mechanics are overly punitive. We were expecting more from a new, payed, edition of its free-to-play brother, Spelunker World.
-
Nov 13, 2017There's some fun to be had with Spelunker Party, but unfortunately there's also a lot of frustration as well.
-
Nov 14, 2017Spelunker Party seems completely at odds with the type of game it is trying to be. Frustrating controls and poor gameplay design are the things you want to try and avoid when making a platformer. But it is the slow pace of both the game and the progression that feels most out of place and one that makes this game the kind you want to avoid.
-
Oct 20, 2017As a huge fan of the series, I must say that Spelunker Party is one of the most disappointing video games that I've ever played. If you own a PlayStation 4 then do yourself a favour and download the free (and far superior) Spelunker World instead.

Oct 26, 2017Spelunker Party is fine. It’s not likely to be a permanent fixture in your Switch for months to come but as a half-decent diversion it gets the job done, most notably in co-op.
