South Park: The Fractured But Whole is a good fit on Switch, though some noticeable technical issues highlight the sacrifices made in order to get it on the hybrid system. That said, what’s here is a great South Park adventure — one fans of the show should certainly check out if they haven’t already.

While The Stick of Truth was an okay RPG with incredibly strong South Park glue to bind it together, this sequel is the opposite: a competent and at times engaging game with the left-over bits from the tube.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole on the Switch is a flawed game with bugs, small performance issues, and long loading times. While the game is a fun but weaker successor to The Stick of Truth, it doesn't look great in its current state. Even with its flaws, it's still an enjoyable journey, but it's not worth the high price tag until most of the performance issues are addressed in an upcoming patch.

fun game, interesting jokes, nice combat improvements over Stick of Truth though I wish it was more engaging as many attacks have no actual engagement making some decisions feel meaningless, decent length and isn't as reliant on jokes the show already made as Stick of Truth was with actually using new content.

    Game Performance
decent framerate though it slows down at odd times just walking around without anything going on in game when it feels steady at all the demanding spots. Resolution looks good both docked and handheld
some bugs making me redo parts of the game due to no fault of my own. and the main reason for such a low score is because a portion of the game is unplayable, locked in a never ending loading screen when ever I enter a building for a quest, tried multiple times letting it load for about an hour and it just won't ever let me into the building for the quest and with it looking like an important quest it's not something I want to ignore and has made the game unplayable for me.

    Other issues
tying difficulty to skin color (at least for a good portion of the game) works fine as a joke but it starts getting really annoying having to play through it like that as some of us like to create animated versions of ourselves in character creators and this makes that not possible without destroying how I want to play the game.

game also loses points for over priced DLC that it advertises for people to buy in game on a regular bases and pushing the Ubisoft store on people by offering exclusive costumes for those willing to create an account, advertising those costumes in game in the same location as all your other costumes and giving constant reminders through some kind of ubisoft store virtual currency it constantly gives out any time you do anything in game.

Large day 1 patch for the physical version that fails to address game breaking issues.

significantly more expensive than other versions of the game.

Fun game. IF your game save doesn't corrupt meaning you can't complete the game you paid for.

A hilarious stand out RPG that allows players to join up with their favourite South Park characters as they attempt to make a superheroA hilarious stand out RPG that allows players to join up with their favourite South Park characters as they attempt to make a superhero franchise. The combat mechanics are a lot more developed than that of the Stick of Truth, allowing for some awesome tactical gameplay. The player also has a range of classes and powers to decide from, ranging from the offensive and fast Speedster class to the more healer and status based Psychic class. There are plenty of side missions, although not as many as I wanted to see unfortunately. The main quest follows a civil war between two superhero teams as they each try to create and sell their own franchise. The story provides 20 hours of funny cinematic cutscenes and suprsingly challenging boss fights. In terms of a Switch port, the game when docked looks great and has a consistent frame rate. When portable the game still looks good but does suffer from slightly bumpy frame rates. Another thing to note is the loading times for combat which can last up to 15 seconds, but this isn't a complete deal breaker in my opinion as most of the time I would change my team members and this would cover up the longer loading times. Overall this is one of the stronger ports to the Switch, and as a game by itself is a brilliant and unique experience. 8/10 Full Review »
