As an extreme fan of the original graphic novels as well as the film, I have to say this game was the perfect way to adapt the story in a video game format. I especially appreciate that along with the base game, they brought Knives and Wallace with it since you originally had to pay extra for it. Wow !!! Great game, I was waiting for the pre-launch of the game and for good reason. A huge plus of the game is that it is difficult, it is all filled with funny and funny gags, + the game is made in comic book stealth, this is another big + game. To the creator of the comic book Brian Lee O'Malley HELLO AND MANY THANKS FOR YOUR CREATIVITY.

Local multiplayer is almost a must for games of this kind and is happy to provide one or the other fun evening with the buddies. Only Ubisoft is holding back this game. The forced registration of a Ubisoft account as well as the holding back of the DLC and the online mode is really disgusting. And after all that, the online mode doesn't even work properly. We can really only hope for a patch that will be released this time. Expand

I like Scott Pilgrim a lot and it's good that this game is back out there.
The game is kind of unfair and the difficulty is all over the place.
It could use some more polish, but the graphics and the music are top notch. It would be really nice to know the stats items give "before" you buy them. Overall the game is good and fun, even more with friends. Now it's time to hate on

Now it's time to hate on Ubisoft, because just like the PC version which has no sound and they haven't fixed since it came out. There is also problems with this Switch version.
    - Sometimes half of the music is just gone for the entire level
    - Screen tearing.
    - Invisible enemies.

How hard is it to release a functioning game Ubisoft?
    Geez.

While the game lacks in depth combat, and bosses after the first one lack phases whatsoever, Scott Pilgrim is still a pretty alright brawler. The RPG-like levelling system allows the difficulty curve to be overpowered with patience and grinding, but levelling up too far makes the game a lot less enjoyable. The fact cutscenes are unskippable and sometimes in multiplayer the screen will cease to scroll is also criminal. Ubisoft had an opportunity to make a definitive version of this game in its re-release, but it really just feels like a straight port and nothing more.

I think you should play this game if you're a Scott Pilgrim fan, but *only* if you're a Scott Pilgrim fan. This game provides little to nothing for fans of mechanically deep brawlers and beat em ups, but I still can't help but love it. There's charm and care oozing out of everything but the actual programming

This game is sooo awesome it made be forget for a brief moment that we are living our 2nd year in this global pandemic. And that is not an easy achievement to accomplish. If that's not a strong recommendation - I don't know what is.

Scott pilgrim is a good game but damn, if it isn't difficult, no joke we are talking by the 3rd level is where you will die a lot. But the story is good, the gameplay is great and music is f**king amazing. This is one of the best beat em' ups i have played.

Oh man, this game is a gem.
    Its perfect? No.
Its one of the best beat 'em up? Yes. Its a perfect game for Scott Pilgrim? DEFINITELY. It takes the best from old arcade games and turn it into modern style, at the same time it doesnt care about if youre noob in playing games. It takes the best from old arcade games and turn it into modern style, at the same time it doesnt care about if youre noob in playing games. The game wont explain you much (you have to find out many things by yourself) and its definitely difficult, but not impossible - I think the game difficulty is well balanced (especially for this genre). Also buying the upgrades for your character is not enough - you really have to learn how this game works. Graphics is nice, OST is even better and the gameplay is on fire, satisfying and on point! It easily became so addictive and I definitely want to beat this game more than once. There are also many cool references from the Scott Pilgrim universe.
Unfortunately, there are some small things that are really unecessary and sadly, they keeps me from give this game a perfect rating. I could ignore the fact that the story is very cutted - actually the story is almost not there at all - because lets say the game want to keep its fast pace, okay. But some very basic things like: Why there is no option for starting new game? You can reset your character progress, but cant start a new separate game? Why you cant see high scores in extra mode games - what is the point of playing these then? Why you cant open the stats menu when youre in a shop? Even if they wanted to do this in order keep the "oldschool" style, its just unecessary, annoying and sometimes maybe a bit lazy. Also in Switch version, Leaderboards are not working.
Besides all of these small things, I really love this game and enjoy every minute of it. I definitely recommend it, and if youre Scott Pilgrim fan, then its a must! Just be sure about to not expect an easy game :)

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I've ALWAYS been a Scott Pilgrim fan, from reading the comics to enjoying the movie, and finally never playing the game. I was stoked when the game was announced for the Switch, but I didn't buy it until late this month. This game overall...was just SO close to a perfect 10, but I can't give it the 10 sadly.

First of all, its a Beat 'Em Up, and the story revolves around the entire series of Scott Pilgrim. Scott Pilgrim is dating a high schooler but falls in love with Ramona Flowers, there's weird **** with the Subspace Highway, and Scott has to defeat Ramona's seven evil ex-boyfriends. How the game adapts to the story is PERFECT. You go through a stage and then at the end you fight the evil ex-boyfriend. This goes around until you eventually get to the very end of the game. My only problem with this (and it ties into gameplay), is that if you die in ANY of these stages before the boss fight...you're starting over at the very start of this stage. Some of these stages got me to my last LIFE, every single time. I experienced a game over or more in every single stage. But its not because of stage length tbh, its because of the FATAL flaw in this game.

You see, this isn't JUST a single-player Beat 'Em Up, its ended to be a Multiplayer one. Which means you'll get flurries of enemies rushing you, and the stage will go on for a while. So the game is EXTREMELY more hard if you go single player, even on the easiest difficulty. You've got five characters to choose from and four people at max to play with. Scott, Kim, Stephen Stills, Ramona, and Wallace. The game is just way easier with multiplayer, and its the big flaw in this game, which really sets it under perfection. Finally, I'll say that this is one of the GREATEST Beat 'Em Up soundtracks in the history of the genre. These songs will get stuck in your head, and they are just...AMAZING. Play the game if you're a Scott Pilgrim fan, especially with friends.

Fun to have a great beat em up on Switch. Elements like stores are still hard to navigate and know what you'll be purchasing, which is frustrating. This version is just a remake of the previous games, so original game is at fault.

This game works best with multiplayer because a solo run can be pretty frustrating. Enemy AI isn't the best as most enemies will just sit there and block all your attacks, all while they fill the screen with attacks that can both smack you across the screen and take forever to recover from. This is where other players can come in handy for support and more fun chaos fun. If a solo run isThis game works best with multiplayer because a solo run can be pretty frustrating. As a highly addictive beat ‘em up and a great trip down the 16-bit memory lane, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World definitely deserved a chance to shine on new platforms. For a couple of days I was pretty much unable to put my Switch down. [03/2021, p.47]
