The new modes, the possibility to play online and keep the game as it was in the original version and only adapt it to the new generation is an absolute success.

Scott Pilgrim Vs The World - Complete Edition is a side-scrolling beat-em-up, similar to Streets of Rage. It has a unique soundtrack and very well done artistic and graphic work. This is a really enjoyable game to play. Although it has some bugs, overall it is a very polished game. It includes several new features compared to its 2010 version, including an online mode that still needs to be refined. Otherwise it is a game that must be played.

A truly fantastic beat ‘em up that’s been brought back from the dead, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game - Complete Edition is utterly sublime.

While its early difficulty may deter some people, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game's complexity and how it opens up makes for a highly enjoyable experience. It’s felt like an eternity since we’ve seen this title on our Xbox systems, and having a Complete Edition with touched up visuals and all previously released content is an absolute treat. Whether you’re a fan of the series or a newcomer to the genre, there’s something here to enjoy, and it's a reminder of why so many fell in love with the original game all those years ago.

Scott Pilgrim vs The World is a game made with love and full of charm, but this complete edition is also a missed opportunity to celebrate it. Also, we’ve seen many fantastic beat ‘em ups since its release, making its shortcomings more obvious.

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game – Complete Edition is an standard Side-Scrolling Beat ’em Up that can entertain, but due to some control issues and very hard difficulty level especially in the beginning parts, may not be a good choice for just anybody.

Both an incredibly faithful take of the Scott Pilgrim story, as well as a frustratingly inconsistent beat-em-up that is elevated by the art style and soundtrack. While it's great that fans news and old have a chance to rediscover its quirks, it's by no means a forgotten masterpiece.

The art style is great, the music keeps your focus, and the faithfulness to the source material is fantastic. I am so glad Ubisoft managed to settle the copyright issues that plagued it, because this is a welcome break from a lot of games these days that feel incomplete and lackluster. Honestly if you want a good fun beat'em up this is a solid choice that will have you entertained for hours. The multiplayer I cannot say anything on as i have not played it, however the co-op capacity is pretty nice. A complete edition upon re-release was the right touch. Expand

The game is a fun beat 'em up, especially with three other players. Fans of retro video games will love the homages. And the graphic novel art is perfectly emulated. If you liked River City Ransom or The Simpsons arcade game, than you'll have a good time. The only complaint I have is that it's a bit too tough when playing solo. Even on the easiest difficulty. Overall though, Scott Pilgrim is a delight. I would rate this with an 8 out of 10. Expand

Scott Pilgrim, yeah it really doesn't hold up. Don't get me wrong for fans of the comic it's still a must own, but unfortunately the devsScott Pilgrim, yeah it really doesn't hold up. Don't get me wrong for fans of the comic it's still a must own, but unfortunately the devs didn't do anything to update the game and the AI is incredibly cheap and frustrating. The game is a complete slog when played single player and feels like work more than fun. If you have some friends go for it if not, probably should take a pass. Expand

I like Scott Pilgrim. I own the books. I have seen the movie. Although I never identified with Scott as an individual, the story and themesI like Scott Pilgrim. I own the books. I have seen the movie. Although I never identified with Scott as an individual, the story and themes hit pretty close to home in the mid 2000s when I first read the books. It felt very relevant to me at that time, in the same way Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared did. It has a special place in my heart.

But this game is kind of a bust.

I remember playing the demo, presumably in 2010, and wanting to like it but being kinda bored with it. Well, 12 years later, I bought it, and it's still a bit boring. It's not an inherently broken or poorly made game, I just don't think it's a good brawler.

For us oldies, it's a very obvious modernisation of River City Ransom (Street Gangs for you PAL people, or Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari for Japan). I really liked RCR, in fact I still own the cartridge (quick flex here). I spent many, many hours playing through it and boosting my stats by eating croissants and going to the sauna. It was fun, the soundtrack absolutely slapped (it still slaps, really), and coop was a blast. A pair of bosses were called Benny and Clyde, I mean, come on, that's awesome. Scott Pilgrim vs The World is very much a "spiritual successor", and is ultimately but a minor mechanical upgrade. You go around beating up punks, getting cash, eating food and reading books to improve stats, and that's about it.

But I think it's just a bit too old-school in its mechanics and stats. Sure, there's more variety than in RCR, but it feels slow and unexciting compared to more modern beat'em ups, like Streets of Rage or the new TMNT game. The walk speed is incredibly slow, and yeah, sure, you can increase your base speed by eating food, even at max speed stat it's not that fast. Attacks feel good when they hit, but defending doesn't work for me. A lot of times I'd expect an attack, block, but then the enemy would just stand there until I stopped blocking, and hit me the instant I let go of the block button. This encourages turtling, slows down the already sluggish pace, and just isn't particularly fun. Wanna get through a level without getting hit? Block all day, baby, just know it's going to be a long day.

Also early on, it feels like enemies have a looooot of HP. The game just moves very slowly, and one strategy I found online is to grind using a money cheat code in the first level and stat boost - which does make the game move more swiftly (I've done it). Thing is, once stats have been boosted, the game gets snappier and ultimately more fun. That seems a bit telling about the stat progression, but that's just like, my opinion, man. Honestly, the game is pretty difficult even on the easiest mode, so I don't know why base stats are so anemic, yet so easily boosted. Again, poor progression.

Ultimately, I just don't find it very fun. It's not without merit, though. The pixel art is very good, and the music is good. I like the general concept, but I wish it were built a bit better and it moved a bit faster. I would only recommend the game to hardcore Scott Pilgrim fans, or hardcore beat'em up fans, or some combination thereof. Everybody else should probably abstain.
