Do NOT read the good reviews! I was fooled into buying this game, and boy do I feel ripped off.
This is a dull unoriginal repetition of themes from all over the place.
I don't care if it looks good. It's a mediocre walking simulator, with dull "puzzles" and seriously no story. Don't get me wrong, I tend to like abstract themes and stories.. done RIGHT! But done wrong.. it just feels

I feel so frustrated. I want to finish this game so I can free the space, and be done with it!
And you better be sure I'm not going to buy anything "tequila works" again.

Overall, the issues with graphics and frame rate aside, RiME is a very enjoyable game and will keep you well entertained with the mental sweat you get trying to figure out the puzzles. Although the port to the Switch hasn’t gone as well as the developers probably would have hoped for, I still recommend picking it up.

What a great game this could have been. i didn't know anything about the game before.
I started it up and was very pleasantly surprised by it.
You have to figure out yourself what to do and where to go. No words are spoken but the world and the atmosphere really took me in. But the frame rate drops are far too often and far too extreme. They really pull you out of the game. I still

I still liked the game and finished it, but the experience is not as good as it should have been.

    A visually beautiful, constantly eye-catching adventure. [Issue #33 – May/June 2018, p. 75]

These graphical issues are profoundly disappointing because I think Rime is a great game, but the Switch version is a technical mess with no signs of future improvement. The gameplay is fun and relaxing, the soundtrack is phenomenal and when it’s running on anything other than the Switch – the visual design is gorgeous. You could play Rime on the Switch, but I strongly recommend getting it on a different platform to save yourself the headache.

As a final interesting note, RiME was actually first revealed as a survival game with elements of health and stamina. While we may never see what that game was like, I’m thankful that developer Tequila Works opted for a deeper tale with that same boy on an island. While an open world would have been fun to explore, the segmented chapters help to tell a bigger truth. Though action would have helped bring more gamers in, laid-back puzzle-solving ensures that more people can freely explore and reach the end. A smoother presentation could have helped the game’s cinematic presence, but the story lives on despite it. RiME isn’t perfect or too original, but it does well to scratch the same emotionally driven story itch that trailblazers like Dear Esther and Journey have pioneered in the past.
