More Frame rate drops then i would like but the puzzles are great and the game is so peaceful. The art is lovely, and it's an easy game to get lost in.

Do NOT read the good reviews! I was fooled into buying this game, and boy do I feel ripped off.
This is a dull unoriginal repetition of themes from all over the place.

Even though Rime reminds me of my all time favorite game Journey, the frame rate really ruined the experience for me. I heard there was a patch that was released to fix that problem so I can't even imagine how bad it was before that.

Listen, Rime is a generic open world puzzle game that barely gets any of it's elements right. The graphics are bland. The world is uninteresting. You're forced to explore this boring world at a slow crawl with no other movement besides a seemingly pointless role, and flacid jump. OMG! Horrible conversion. And the pathetic guilty of developers who talk about choices aware of the damage to resolution and framed worse things. For those who have spent money I hope that an important patch will come soon. Nintendo should not allow certain publications on its machines.

An absolutely unacceptable port. I hope they fix it up. Grainy BLURRY graphics and low shoddy framerate. Disappointing. I really hope they patch it up and fix its issues because it seems like it'd be a great game.

Don't let the low rating fool you. A patch has been released which fixes the game. The game looks amazing in both handheld and docked mode now. Although the graphics are not as good as the PS4 or the Xbox One version, it doesn't take away anything from the experience, which is amazing graphics, outstanding story and excellent music. Highly recommended.

Rime certainly is a beautiful-looking game at first glance, but this port for Nintendo Switch is horribly marred by degraded resolution and spotty frame rates. If you really want to experience this game, I'd recommend checking out other platforms as the Switch version of Rime simply does not do this title any justice. Personally, I am trading my copy in and buying it on PC instead.

Overall, the issues with graphics and frame rate aside, RiME is a very enjoyable game and will keep you well entertained with the mental sweat you get trying to figure out the puzzles. Although the port to the Switch hasn’t gone as well as the developers probably would have hoped for, I still recommend picking it up.

I've waited to buy RiME on the Switch for the patch that fixes the frame rate drops. I've finally received it and I'm so happy I've done that! The game is just breathtaking, the music, the way it's "painted" on your TV is just top notch. And the ending... Made me speechless and made me rethink some things... You just have to play it! 10/10.

    Wow, that was bad.
The game is a shallow and unapologetic rip-off of other games:
    - The boy and mills designs are taken from Ico - Shadows design are taken from Ico and Shadow of the Colossus - Puzzles are taken from the Witness - Climbing is taken from Assassin's Creed - The dog is stolen from the Little Prince So, it's amazingly derivative and boring. Also, puzzles are meh.

In few words Rime is like Ico & Journey hybrid with more emphasis on the latter. Hence if you liked these great games, you should not be dissapointed with Rime.
Music is astonishing, visuals too. Gameplay is nice and entertaining, however my only "plea" would be that finding any secret areas gives you absolutely no reward. This could be better solved. As well as character control.

In terms of technical aspects that so many complain on Switch. I played on patched version and gameplay was rather smooth, however in some areas there were still slight framerate issues. But by all means it didn't affect any gameplay experience! Still found one bug pushing me to revert to last save though (character fell into the hole in rainy area somewhere by the endgame).

Most of the time I had the feeling this game tries to be very emotional, but it fells flat on that matter. Like if they tried to create spiritual successor to Ico. But player quickly notices something here is pushed too hard. Where friendship was natural in Ico, here in Rime feels quite "artificial". Maybe instead of "fake friendship" with fox or robot, more pressure should be made on ancient tech or place? Rime had so much potential in scope of mystery, which wasn't completely utilized at all! Don't get me wrong. Rime is really good game, but in terms of feelings/story it has absolutely no start to Ico, hence I see here more similarities rather to Journey. An I think Rime deserved for more. Just my subjective personal opinion.

Beautiful visuals and music. Heartbreaking story. Really takes you on an emotional journey in the vein of, well, Journey. Only complaint is there were a few points that I got stuck because it was hard to tell where to go - or where I could go. Kinda breaks the immersion in this type of game. But most of the time it strikes the right balance

Great story and experience. I have played after the long awaited patch and game was looking sharp and running smoothly. Mechanics are simple but there is something in this game - the art style, climax and the story (especially after the end). Overall I am very happy that I have played that (after the patch).

RiME is an excellent game, even when the Switch port is not perfect.
Sure, it drops a lot of frames when changing certain areas, but I always thought of these moments as really fast "loading screens". It's not perfect, but it doesn't hinder the experience as much as everyone says. Frame drops are not that common and gameplay is fluid most of the time.

The blurry look during portable mode is a greater deal, but I mostly played through the game in docked mode anyway.

First off, RiME is a very gorgeous game, I absolutely loved the aesthetic, soundtrack, and immersion that it succeeded in bringing, but there's quite a bit of other things I want to get into.

I tried this game in patch 1.0.0, and it was a bit laggy, but in patch 1.0.2 it did a good job at lowering that consistency, and in my opinion the game looked better as well. While the game does lag, yes, however for me, it only lagged consistently in about three to four places, and I was never in one place for long. So with a quick note, to all those 1080p, 60fps junkies, a little bit of lag shouldn't be causing you to harm this game with low reviews, it's ungrateful and an overreaction.

In all other places, even a area with non-stop rain, the game ran smoothly, and what I've deducted from this, is that it only lags in large open areas, with a plethora of things within it, assuming it lags because it's loading and running several assets, textures and such, all at once.

As for the game play the puzzles are nice and innovative, but basic, boring, and dull, partaking in these puzzles eventually felt lackluster, but I never really sighed and went "another one?" when I came upon a new puzzle, they are just, nothing special. Controls are smooth, and platforming, for the most part is solid, little finicky though.

And as for story, it is a beautiful one, however it is one that makes no sense, has zero consistency and confused me while playing it. I understand what it was getting at, practically spelled out to you at the end of the game, but I can't say that is an excuse for poor story setting/telling. In my opinion the story was all out of whack as if the developers had no end goal, or they were working on one plot at a time, which really divides the world and the story. It really felt like they had no idea what they wanted the story to be, and only worked on the concept as its foundation, and threw it all together as small hub worlds with puzzles for you to do as you go through them.

In the end it's a fantastic game, and I urge any adventurous puzzle lovers to give it a try.

Claims that this makes it "unacceptable", "impossible to enjoy" and "half-assed" put me off investing in this game for far too long and hugely overstate the impact these undeniable issues have on the overall quality of the gameplay experience.
Early on in the game a few of the cut scenes stutter and you can see the game struggle to load in new areas as you progress from one fenced off area to the next. These become less and less frequent and after chapter 2 really didn't impact the experience that badly at all.
The sound is incredible, the architecture and imagination that fill each and every room of every single "world" will have you pausing just to look around and marvel in wonder at the creativity of the game's designers and the combined aesthetic elements are utterly captivating.
The closest thing I could compare this to would be something like The Never Ending Story - a journey through fantastyscapes haunted by soul consuming terrors, mechanized sentinels that you'll actually feel an emotional sympathy for and a recurring fox companion who subtly guides your progress at key moments.
Some of the puzzles can take a while to solve (especially in chapter 3) but this is a game that rewards both speed players and those who want to explore more.
I've just completed Rime and have so much more to discover.
Unlike the highly overrated Mario Odyssey, this is a game that merits replaying. Unlike Mario Odyssey this has a unique and original art style (whilst hinting at Windwaker). Unlike Mario Odyssey this evokes emotions and tells an abstract story with subtly and charm.
In every way aside from its infrequent technical issues, and I don't know why this has become a drag on Mario Odyssey, Rime is a far superior and HIGHLY UNDERRATED title.
Don't let the overly negative comments put you off buying this game, definitely not if you pick up a second hand copy which will only set you back about 20 bucks.
Rime is a highly memorable title that fell foul to the desire of reviewers to sensationalize some technical hiccups as clickbate negativity with a complete lack of measure and respect for this superb little game.
If nothing else it's a great way to spend a weekend - about the time you'll need to finish it before you undoubtedly go back and get completionist on it.

These graphical issues are profoundly disappointing because I think Rime is a great game, but the Switch version is a technical mess with no signs of future improvement. The gameplay is fun and relaxing, the soundtrack is phenomenal and when it’s running on anything other than the Switch – the visual design is gorgeous. You could play Rime on the Switch, but I strongly recommend getting it on a different platform to save yourself the headache.

As a final interesting note, RiME was actually first revealed as a survival game with elements of health and stamina. While we may never see what that game was like, I’m thankful that developer Tequila Works opted for a deeper tale with that same boy on an island. While an open world would have been fun to explore, the segmented chapters help to tell a bigger truth. Though action would have helped bring more gamers in, laid-back puzzle-solving ensures that more people can freely explore and reach the end. A smoother presentation could have helped the game’s cinematic presence, but the story lives on despite it. RiME isn’t perfect or too original, but it does well to scratch the same emotionally driven story itch that trailblazers like Dear Esther and Journey have pioneered in the past.
