Jul 8, 2019Resident Evil Zero is one of the titles that tried experimenting with already good formulas, yet managed to get away with it and still be a great game. Not that lonely but still a strong survival horror experience, Resident Evil Zero is most probably the prettiest Resident Evil on the Switch that aged unbelievably well.
-
May 22, 2019Overall, Resident Evil 0 is a game which provides the same satisfying gameplay loop found in the Resident Evil remake. If you’re not only aching for more top-down survival horror but also invested in the world of the series, it’s worth downloading for a playthrough. Just keep in mind that if portability isn’t the main draw for you with the Nintendo Switch, you’re better off purchasing the game off another storefront.
-
May 28, 2019Maybe it isn’t the best classic Resident Evil, but it still is very enjoyable. It works great on the Switch, so it is a good option if you feel like playing an old-school survival horror.
-
May 28, 2019Every saga has its beginning and Resident Evil 0 is the chronological beginning of this saga of nightmares so beloved by its fans. This title is a great survival horror game, so it is essential for any fan of the genre.
-
May 27, 2019Fun and engaging, with some new ideas: a refreshing Resident Evil for every fan, all in portable mode on Switch.
-
May 23, 2019Loading times make the experience a little worse (but not game breaking) and its expensive selling price (10 euros more than in other digital shops) make it tough to recommend... unless you want it to play on portable. There is no new content, no Switch exclusive content: it's a fast port.
-
May 21, 2019Resident Evil has a storied history and the series has evolved over the years to feature a wide range of gameplay styles. Revisiting the core survival horror gameplay with an added modern control scheme proves to be a wonderful pairing. Featuring two characters for a majority of the adventure adds some interesting puzzle design, but also takes away from the feeling of isolation and dread. Fortunately the frightening and off-putting atmosphere helps to counteract that. While it isn’t the best of the classics, Resident Evil Zero still manages to deliver an authentic survival horror experience.
-
May 22, 2019Technically the Switch version of Resident Evil Zero delivers. Mechanically though the co-op focus was and still is a downer.
-
Oct 24, 2019Resident Evil 0 remains a good game in the series. Even with your AI partner's occasional lapses in judgment, the dynamic makes the standard formula feel fresh, while the lack of chests can be either good or bad depending on your outlook. The stunted load times ruin the mood since they occur all the time. If you don't mind that and you want to own the game in a portable form, this port isn't all that bad.
-
Jul 1, 2019Overall, the Switch version is an excellent port of the previous remaster with the same additional content available once you have completed the main story. There is very little to distinguish this version from the previously released HD remasters, the only difference being the portability option that the Switch console offers.
-
Jun 6, 2019One of the most divisive chapters in the Resident Evil saga arrives on the Nintendo Switch, for the first time playable as a portable game. An enjoyable more of the same with some annoying issues.
-
Jun 3, 2019An average port for a good Capcom game. Resident Evil 0 in the Switch is worth for those who want to play on the go, otherwise it gets very hard to recommend it for a full price.
-
May 23, 2019Various factors accumulate to take the shine off Resident Evil 0 in comparison to the original game, but the Switch version showcases it at its best, and even though it doesn’t reach the heights of 1 or 2, it provides a shot of old-school Resident Evil for those who like that sort of thing. It looks great on Switch and the ability to play on-the-go helps alleviate some of the frustrations inherent to its old-fashioned systems. Overall, it’s very much more of the same, but if that’s what you’re after, Resident Evil 0 ticks the requisite boxes nicely.
-
May 26, 2019Resident Evil 0 is one of the most controversial entry in the series. It still delivers its oppresive atmospher but this Switch version cannot really revive the flame.
-
May 21, 2019Resident Evil 0 is a strange outlier in the long-running survival horror series, making it a tough recommendation on Switch over the first Resident Evil and 4.
-
Jun 14, 2019If I had reviewed Resident Evil Zero sixteen years ago, I would have said it was an incredible game, but going back to anything after this long away does not always end well and unfortunately, that is the case here. The controls are a bit wonky, the puzzles are weak and there are some AI issues with the buddy system that can be troublesome. I still, for the most part, enjoyed playing through the game again after all these years, but it is certainly the weakest entry of the ‘classic’ Resident Evil titles.
-
Jun 6, 2019Resident Evil 0 was already widely considered one of the weakest traditional entries in the series, due to its meaningless story and tedious game design. There were so many possibilities that could have worked out so much better if some of its design got tweaked, and if Rebecca was a new and totally different character so the story wouldn't clash with the established canon. While it is an exceptional looking title, the ridiculously longer load times is a good way to ruin the mood to keep playing on top of the gameplay being inferior to older entries.
