Unfortunately, Prehistoric Dude’s problems aren’t minor. Lots of annoyances add up to make this a small game that I disliked. It has a real need for additional polish.

Prehistoric Dude feels like it’s going through the motions. It’s too short, yet somehow manages to be repetitive, and the annoying combat and bugs will probably only encourage players to rush through the experience.

The intro story and art is simple and charming. The game itself is quick to get into and becomes notably less frustrating as you gain abilities and power ups. There are occasional issues with Dude getting stuck inside terrain and on the side of ledges. Often this could be fixed with a couple jumps. But I did have to reset the game on one occasion.

The gameplay itself is unpunishing and straight forward. I could recommend this to children or someone who is looking for an easy, quick platformer to pound through.
