They also removed Pokemon abilities. On top of this, they force you to use a single joy con controller unless you are playing in handheld mode. I prefer a two Joycon setup, but that's too bad. You can't even use a pro controller. Did you spend an extra $70 for that pro controller? That's too bad, because you can't use it at all. They wanted to cash grab with the Pokeball plus sales to force you into their gimmick of spending an extra $45 for a stupid Pokeball controller that will only be useful for this game. It's a good business strategy, but does a terrible job at keeping customer loyalty. They completely disrespected the long time fans with this installment and The last company that I trusted with a string title every time has finally lost my trust. I cannot recommend this game to anyone, unless you've never played Pokemon or you only play Pokemon Go. That's 100% the audience they were targeting and they obviously stopped caring about their true fans.

I just can't help but feel like the company didn't care very much with what they were doing this time around. It's a back to basics Pokemon game that removes around 50% of what makes Pokemon fun. If you're a Pokemon fan, then I would highly recommend waiting and buying their core version coming in late 2019. This won't tide you over, this will make you mad.

I have played and beat every main series Pokemon game a few times each, and consider myself experienced enough to write this review.
Pokemon: Let's Go is for children and people who have never touched a Pokemon game before, not counting Pokemon Go. Nintendo promised a few times that this game would accommodate old fans of the series and still provide a fun experience. I can affirm that that is false. This is the easiest, most watered down game in the series, even if it is supposed to not count as a main series game. The game refuses to respect the intelligence of the player by not permitting you to challenge gyms if you don't have a Pokemon that is strong against the gym on your team. You are given Poke balls after nearly every battle in the overworld for no repercussions, and there are additionally a few NPCS that will refill your balls for free if you run out, like the one in Mount Moon. Your partner Pokemon is likely the most powerful creature on your side, which is odd seeing as Pikachu and Eevee both lack competitive viability. In order to improve this, the game allows you to teach some powerful, exclusive moves of any type to your partner Pokemon ensuring that you will never get stuck once during the entire game. IVs are now completely invalidated as you can pay an NPC 10,000 pokecoins to change the nature of every wild Pokemon you encounter for the next while. After every battle and wild encounter, your Pokemon automatically share experience points, a feature that you CANNOT turn off. This makes the game even easier, ensuring nobody will ever be challenged or underleveled once during their playthrough.
Breeding, which was my favorite feature in past games, has been removed entirely. Held items and abilities are out, removing nearly every nuance from competitive battling aside from type advantages.
There are a few things in this game I enjoy, however. The two positive points in this review are for them. The remastered music is very well done and is very immersive. I will also say that this game has the best implementation of the Switch's trademark "HD Rumble" to date. The vibrations that the joycon and the Pokeball Plus make are very convincing and realistic. I usually enjoy capturing Pokemon in the new system for the most part, and I'm sure children will adore it, but it is NOT a replacement for the old one. The gameplay when capturing Pokemon is very unengaging. In practically all of my encounters I just alternated between throwing a Razz Berry and a Poke ball each time until I captured the Pokemon. The nuance is completely gone.
Do not buy this game. Do not buy this game for your child. Do not buy this game for a friend who likes Pokemon Go. Show these people a good Pokemon game and introduce them to the series properly. If this game sells well, and Nintendo refuses to listen to the community, I truly hate to think of what the next Pokemon game will bring.

That's a good looking game, Let's Go just looks like the phone game Pokemon Go, what works on a phone doesn't work on a console, and yet game despite looking awful still lags, it's clear that this game is nothing more then a cheap cash grab, that's barely worth $15, if your looking for a gift for Christmas, I suggest waiting Smash Bro's Ultimate so you don't waste your money. You do not endlessly fling Pokemon balls at Pokemon with nothing else to do. Trainer battles are frequent enough for me to scratch my "battle itch".

All in all, this game is beautiful (for a Pokemon game...), offers a much less tedious IV chaining technique and, technologically speaking, nicely lifts the series from the 3DS to the Switch.

I advise everyone that is disgruntled, to try the game for a couple of hours. And I'm sure many will feel less bitter - currently there is a popular internet trend of auto-hating this game because of various changes...

Terribly out of touch and having a track record for not listening to players and removing the features they like this time they're insulting the intelligence of kids and go players alike. Masuda is a delirious hack and should resign, I'm a passionate competitive player and I fear and I quote ''let's go will become the pillar of the franchise for the next 20 years''. that would ruin the competitive scene completely, please sends a message to gamefreak to remind them not only this is unneeded but there's a noticeable competitive fanbase that loves the game as it is. Play FireRed or LeafGreen instead; they're better Kanto games with more content.

Graphics are fine but nothing to write home about (not that they've ever been an important part of the series). The following Pokemon and character cameos are both really cool, but don't justify the 60$ price tag. If you really want to interact with your Pokemon, I'd recommend playing the 3DS games and using Amie/Refresh.

The point is, there's nothing that makes this game worth more than FireRed, a game that came out over a decade ago. If you don't already have FRLG or something to play GBA games and you just really like the look of this game more, then sure, you'll have fun. If you don't fit that description, then I'd only recommend the game if you play GO and have children to play with, since I imagine that would elevate the experience a bit. Although, while we're on children, I'd still recommend you get them FRLG instead. If you're a parent and you don't really get Pokemon, don't be fooled by people who say this game is better for kids; Pokemon has ALWAYS been a good fit for children, so the additions that make this game more childish and easy were completely unnecessary. I enjoyed FRLG as a kid, and I still come back to it. I would've enjoyed this game too, but I'm not so sure about that second part.

For veteran Pokemon fans, the game is fun as long as you don't think too hard about all the stuff that's missing or where they went wrong, and the fact that that's the most positive thing I can say about it should tell you all you need to know.

This game is beautiful. I have not used the PokeBall controller yet because that shipment was delayed, but I've only spent about 4-5 hours playing and I can say I don't feel cheated out of my money. It's a rich, nostalgic experience so far. I used to despise the fact that I would be slowed down by a thousand Pidgeys or Rattatas or Zubats or Digletts as I just wanted to advance through the game, with the new design, it's a dream come true. I honestly don't think I'll be able to play the old way where pokemon can pop up any time you're in a cave or high glass. I love the combo system that has been implemented and how that affects your chance to find rare Pokemon.
I did take a point off because while the throwing mechanism is nice, it's not perfect though. And often times it can be inconsistent. In the beginning of the game, when money is low, this is important because a wasted Pokeball is worth more than you think when cash is low.
Having said that, if you have an issue with only one mechanism in a game, you don't drop your score to zero. That's just poor reviewing. There's no way this game is a zero or below a 4. Any score that is a zero should immediately be disregarded but that's for any game.
As for difficulty, I can't honestly remember the last Pokemon game that I felt was challenging. There's always one or two battles that are hard but that's about it. Most of the challenging stuff comes after end-game. I'm not that far in this game to comment on that...

I wanted more of the traditional Pokemon RPG experience. Several users are putting this out as a 0, and that's just an emotional reaction - this game was never intended to be a core Pokemon RPG.

It was intended to be a nostalgic trip, it was intended to test out some new ideas and some new concepts. It's truly beautiful, and it accomplished what it set out to do. 60.00 is a bit steep in my opinion for this game. And the pokeball controller is a complete waste of money.

Think for yourself on this game - if you want a core Pokemon RPG, skip this, and play Ultra Sun/Moon. If you want an enjoyable diversion, gab this game. You'll enjoy it, if you're looking for that. Temper your expectations appropriately - my only regret with this game is that I purchased the Pokeball controller. I am enjoying LGP for what it is. You might too.

The story and game progression itself is like the original Yellow, you get your snowflake pokemon with inflated stats and can pretend to be ash like in the Anime, feel free to remove it to give the game the "normal" difficulty.

The pokemon now follows you! they can pick up items, some of them have unique interaction and overall make the pokemon world feel more alive.

Online stille there, but limited to simple trade with randoms using a code(or a friend if you put the same one) and simple and double battle

Competitively, it's only gen 1 with alola pokemon, and minor moves changes, not as deep as other main game pokemon, but you get the basics, No abilities or held items.

The game is fun and relaxing overall, don't expect something grandiose, if you are nostalgic and like kanto go ahead, and if you have kid you can have a fun co op experience.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really tried to give this game the chance, but it just keep disapointing me.
Hear me out, this isnt a hate review like most, I really played it.

I was on board with all the pokemon following you and the fact that they were visible in the overworld, but after playing it and complete it... It doesnt felt like a pokemon game, sure I may not have all the pokedex (because im unwilling to pay 60bucks for another joycon) but Its feels CHEAP.

Controls: First negative point, what is this?. The controls are worse than the TWEWY remix for switch and thats saying a lot, Was it to much to allow us to disable the movement controls if I play on a train?.

Content: Its the shorter pokemon game I have played in my life. I dont know the motivation behind removing 7/8 parts of the pokedex from the game but to lock me from getting all without a joycon DLC is crossing the line. Also The postgame content is lackluster, the masters of each pokemon felt really descompensated (some hard some easy as hell) and after beating them you get a quick dialogue and a title( they keep being the masters but they share their title), maybe expecting a TM at least was too much.

Story: I already was expecting it to be bland or non-existant but for some reason they got out of their way to make unnecesary decisions (like the league champion, that doesnt make any sense).

Graphics: Well I never demanded good graphics but playing it like it is feels like playing a mobile game, I might not be wrong saying that is on the same level of Dragalia Lost a mobile game distributed by Nintendo (with chibi aesthetics), and I remember you this a 60 bucks game for Switch(an hybrid console) vs a F2P gacha mobile game.

Attention to details: Feels like a miss, with only 1/8 of the pokedex you expect that game freak may have worked in new animations for games for those 171 pokemons, but you couldnt be more wrong, they reused the assets and animation of 3ds and ported them to HD, even character animations are reused. At least ( and this are the 2 points) they deepened in the following pokemon mechanic giving them special skills like different levels of flight.

I was prepared for everything while going into this game but not this, this isnt just a short game its a scam. The game itself is worth 20 bucks max. but its sold at x3 that price +DLCs because its pokemon. After BOTW and MarioOdyssey grand start for their franchises in switch pokemon enters the hybrid console gen with a little game that couldnt live up to the expectation.

I may have lost 60 bucks but if with this review I can prevent others from the same fat so be it.

Not to mention despite only having 151+2 pokemon to make animations for you still have pikachu jumping in place basically t-posing for half its moves. Compare it to a game like digimon cyber sleuth which had a fraction of a fraction of the budget this game did and still managed to give every one of its 250+ digimon unique animations. The low quality from this game and the amount of features they've added and removed from pokemon over time is unforgivable for a franchise that's grossed 60 billion dollars.
That being said if you're 3 years old or didn't play any pokemon games outside of yellow? Sure, go nuts. But keep in mind when you buy that even if you enjoy the game you're supporting lazy development and developers that don't have the slightest clue what the fanbase wants outside of nostalgia pandering

I've been skeptical ever since this was announced and frankly my opinion hasn't changed from any of the things they have shown us.

Before I start on this I must say this game is fine for someone new to the series. THAT is one thing I think everyone can agree on. It's a very basic game and is pretty much meant to be that bridge for people that haven't jumped onto mainline Pokemon yet.

If this game were judged on its own, it may even be worthy of a better score, however that isn't the situation this game calls for.

Let's Go Pikachu is a watered down game that's priced $20 more than Ultra Sun despite the latter having more content and overall being a better designed experience. LGP arbitrarily removes mechanics that have been a series staple, while throwing darts on the wall to choose which mechanics to keep (such as megas). There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to what gets removed and what stays. I imagine the development team for this game didn't have much direction. At its core LGP is a 20 year old game with a new coat of paint, nothing on a deeper level has really been changed in any meaningful way. It's received the most common QOL updates that the series has progressed on but nothing has really been done to make it feel like a modern Pokemon experience. About the only remarkable new thing in LGP is the interactivity with your Pokemon and more importantly your starter of choice. This game is clearly filler to stall time for gen 8, but it also strikes a chord with those people that have a weakness for nostalgia.
If you are very desperate for a new game regardless of quality, you might as well get this. If you are new to the series, this honestly isn't a bad choice. But if you're a veteran like me then this game really offers nothing for the $60 price tag, and I would advise against purchasing it. I for one will be giving this game to my brother and he will probably enjoy it.

However I cannot recommend this game as it's riddled with questionable controls and design choices, infuriating many veteran players of the series.

While random battles were cumbersome to many, the outright removal of them alltogether may appear very jarring to returning players, especially with the lack of an option to turn wild battles on or off. Controls are another confusing addition, requiring players to use one Joy Con controller when in Docked Mode without any alternative options. While this is made for the Go inspired capture mechanic, the feature is at best mixed, with numerous pokeballs wasted for little reason.

For all the positives and negatives Let's Go provides, the highest I can give it is a 5/10. For some players, Let's Go will be very fun. Others will loathe the forced changes to the Pokemon formula. As a recommendation however, do not listen to those claiming these are perfect or the absolute worst games in the series. Let's Go is neither. These games are a moderately adequate return to Kanto, with changes to the traditional formula that will be a joy or pain depending on the individual player.

Oh, yeah, and I forgot the reuse of animations, models and looks like textures too. At this point I'd preffer just to wait and emulate it on Yuzu or the other Switch emulator. 2) Lame OST: Generic orchestral arrangements that don't even reach the quality of fan made remixes that can be found on YouTube.
    3) Performance issues: FPS drops when there are too many pokemon in the screen or during co-op despite the subpar visuals.
    4) Boring campaign: The game gives you no reason to use other pokemon than your starter to get through battles, as it can stomp on everything you find. Probably why some parts of the game require you to have caught a number of pokemon to advance or get something extra. You have out of your way to lose in this game. No challenge whatsoever. No gratification.
    5) Assumes kids are stupid: Probably the most terrible aspect of this game. It's aimed at children, but doesn't try to stimulate them in any way. It's thoroughly condescending from the very beginning, from the lack of suitable challenges for them to the constant, over the top hand holding. CHILDREN ARE YOUNG, NOT STUPID. Seriously, giving this game to a child is insulting their intelligence. Pokemon Let's Go is all about instant, fake gratification and the reason it teaches is "You're too stupid to learn and get better at things, but don't worry! Making any sort of effort is bad!" Most likely detrimental for any kid's development.
    6) Full Price game that has less content than remakes of the same games that came out over a decade ago: Kanto is exactly the same. Scarce post game. Scarce online features which require a paid subscription to be accessed.
    7) Confusing design philosophy: Junichi Masuda has stated that these games have been simplified because kids play games on their smartphones now. He has also stated that Let's Go is aimed at kids because they haven't been able to play go, as they don't have smartphones. You also need a smartphone to unlock and evolve Meltan and Melmetal. So what is it, mr. Masuda?
    8) Just straight out disappointing: A lot of long time pokemon fans have dreamed about the day there would be a pokemon game on a home console. GF's debut on a system like that has shown poor graphics, poor gameplay, cut content, and general blatant laziness in development.

To sum up: Pokemon Let's Go is a $60 console game which believes kids are stupid, has had little effort put on it, and tries to hide its faults behind confusing and contradicting statements. NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY!

    GAMEPLAY
Gameplay is largely the same as past entries. You get a starter Pokemon, travel a region, catch more Pokemon and raise them, battle other characters with said Pokemon, become Champion of the region, and eventually become a Pokemon Master. But unlike past games you no longer encounter Pokemon in certain areas at random you can now see the Pokemon on the overworld and interact with them in the same way you do in a similar manner to Pokemon Go, wild battles only exist in a few notable instances. Your Pokemon gain experience Some Pokemon species are not present in this version (as is the case for a vast majority of past games) and must be obtained via trading or transferring the Pokemon from Go. The original 151 Pokemon (plus Meltan and Melmetal, which must be caught in Go and transferred) are the only Pokemon present in the game. All other species, including ones that evolve from the original 151, are not obtainable at all.

    STORY
The story is retread of the one present in Yellow (which this game and its sister version are remakes of). Once you complete it that's the end of it outside of Master Trainers (of which here are are 153, one for each Pokemon species available in the game), and battling certain Trainers after certain conditions are met.

    GRAPHICS
One of two things that these games have above most Pokemon games, they're a step up quality-wise when compared to the 3DS entries (X/Y, Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, Sun/Moon, and Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon) but it's somewhat tarnished when compared to other Switch games. One half-point for trying.

    MUSIC
The second thing that his game gets right. The new orchestral takes on classic tunes is good, but the choices of instruments and feeling of certain tracks (Lavender Town's theme and the Pokemon Tower theme have lost a bit of their creepiness and the lack of Japanese instruments is iffy) can leave one wanting something more pleasing to the ear holes. One half-point for trying.

    PRICE
$60 is way too hefty a price tag considering what these games offer. This problem also exacerbated when other items like the Poke Ball Plus (needed to get Mew), Pokemon GO (needed for Meltan and, if you're willing to wait a LONG time to get it due to single Candy payouts from catching Meltan at low spawn rates and 20km Buddy distances, Melmetal), and the Switch itself (if you don't have one already) are needed to truly complete the game. Bundles of containing the first and third items along with game are available, but they are limited in supply and are most certainly being scalped in the resale market like the Pokemon Go Plus was when it first came out.

    OVERALL
Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu (and Let's Go Eevee) is an entry that feels like, and is, a bare-bones game of which only the most desperate of Pokemon players (and children) will not feel buyer's remorse over regardless of how much cash they paid to get them. If you're a Pokemon player that wants a little more meat in terms of everything else, wait for the 2019 entry and PRAY that the parties involved keep their word on saying that Go/Let's Go mechanics stay separate from these and future non-Let's Go entries.

I'd read so many negative things online on Twitter and elsewhere, and I was still determined to enjoy it in spite of the evidence before my eyes "because it's cute", "because it's Kanto", "because nostalgia". And I did, at first. Meeting Pikachu for the 'first' time, Pikachu meeting MC's Mom, was all very cute, but then it dwindled.

After the first half dozen or so Pokemon encounters, the process felt repetitive. A half dozen later, it felt like a chore. I figured I could get by with just catching what I intended to use, but no. The game enforces capture quotas for you to continue past certain points.I would honestly prefer mindless fetch-quests over this.

I stopped playing. No amount of willpower to enjoy it made me enjoy it. Pokemon has been part of my life since childhood, and the loyalty that roots in you still wasn't enough to make me enjoy this insulting cash-grab of a game.

I am genuinely disappointed that someone else wasted their money on this in my name.

    - $50 toy and trading are the only way to get Mew legitimately when HGSS gave players a very similar toy with the game and didn’t make it impossible to 100% the game without someone

    - $50 toy and trading are the only way to get Mew legitimately when HGSS gave players a very similar toy with the game and didn’t make it impossible to 100% the game without someone paying extra
    - Similarly, the only way to get Gengar, Alakazam, Golem/Golem-A, and Machamp are though trading (the likes of which is harder do to previous factors and that the fact that 2 switches are required) or by playing Pokemon GO on a smart phone where you catch hundreds of Pokemon in that line or walk/drive thousands of kilometers while its on or getting lucky with encounters
    - Several animations are literally copy&pasted from SM
    - Blastoise, a flagship pokemon, still shoots hydro pump from its forehead
    - Many Pokemon just move on the axis during attack animations
    - Aerodactyl in the museum is literally just an aerodactyl model and no modifications to make it appear as a skeleton
    - Gym Requirements break traditional nuzlocke rules just so that GameFreak had a lazy way to make the game easier
    - The one of the downsides of having a Mega on a Pokemon, being the item they hold preventing you from hold other items, is now gone, and there is no downside to using most megas like Alakazam, Slowbro, Gengar, Charizard-Y, Blastoise, ect.
    - Because of how AVs work, the EVs of these games, everything is bulkier than what they were in Gen 2, likely being less balanced than Gen 2 and 3
    - Co-op makes battles 2v1s in your favor and offers nothing else in gameplay when the possibilities are infinite
    - The Champion has a Jolteon with 3 moves, 2 of which are Quick Attack and Pin Missile
    - In fact, the Champion only has 3 moves for each Pokemon
    - So do many Master Trainers
    - Some master trainers will have a flying type with a ground type move
    - Since there is a Master Trainer for every Pokemon, you will need a living dex or fight the NFE Pokemon first even though they are post game
    - Chikorita to Zeraora are all missing entirely. No transfer from the real mainline games or even GO
    - With the former, many Gen 2 and Gen 4 cross evolutions are gone
    - No Day and Night cycle what so ever
    - You can run from trainers
    - Wild Battles are now just GO like catching
    - EXP Share can’t be turned off at all
    - With how hard they deliberately made making competitive teams, the Nintendo Switch is now more likely to be hacked as no one is realisticly going to build a legitimate team
    - With how hard the games are and how many Gen 1 references there are, the games are somehow meant for little japanese kids
    - Despite what paid shills have said, Musada says he hope the future of Pokemon is more like LGPE
    - It took them 5 years to let you ride Kangaskahn, and your starter is the one in its pouch
    - Machamp doesn’t princess carry you even though it did in SM

It's too bare bones to even be considered a Pokemon game, even as a casual RPG it fails because of it's ease of gameplay. The ONLY, and I mean only good thing about these games are the graphics. They look decent, and if we were to get a Gen 8 on Switch or (finally) Sinnoh remakes, I'd love to see this art style return. That's why these games are clearly a 1/10. Too simplistic to appeal to veterans of the series and too needlessly patronizing and handholdy to serve as a meaningful introduction to the series for new players rather than a frustrating and superficial one, Let's Go can only be described as an unsolicited stripped down version of what already is one of the most newcomer-friendly series on the market and a walking contradiction failing to entice anybody by trying to excessively cater to only one side of the new/veteran spectrum. Abilities, Items, Wild Encounters, Traditional Catching, Breeding, and most notably any Pokemon not part of the original 151 are not present in the game and alternatives to act as a substitute are mostly not provided or do not feel substantial enough to warrant the change in the first place. Additions that weren't present in Yellow are very scarce compared to other remakes and even then they are mostly friviolities that while cutesy and cheerful they don't suffice to quell the irritation caused by the game's barren and unchanged Kanto trying to ride on the coattails of nostalgia out of rapacious greed instead of attempting to improve the experience. Listen, I understand they're trying something different for once in the franchise, sure. But "different" doesn't always equate to good, and this is a perfect example. I know what GameFreak is up to, though. Don't expect GO players to buy a Switch for one game; this ain't necessarily smart from a business standpoint.

It feels more like one of the below average spin-off titles that gets released every now and then but since Gamefreak themselves have developed it and are insisting to call it a mainline title, I will do the same. This of course means that will I judge it with the quality of previous mainline titles in mind.
This is not a good game. It's neither a good Pokémon game nor a good RPG in general. The Pokémon series has always been a very casual and simple part of the JRPG genre, it's made to appeal first and foremost to kids after all. In recent times Gamefreak have adopted the strategy of simplifying the games even more and that's extremely apparent with Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee. These games ignore a plethora of features that have been a staple of the series for many years in favor of cashing in on the Pokémon Go hype by implementing features from that game. This to me seems like a very weird choice to make. Who would have thought that the very first mainline Pokémon title released on a home console would remove features in sake of implementing game mechanics from a mobile title of all things. It feels honestly very bizarre. Apart from that, the game doesn't look what I would expect a home console Pokémon game to look like. It looks like an upscaled 3DS game. This is especially pathetic when you compare it to other bestseller titles on the Switch, such as Mario Odyssey, which looks and runs magnitudes better than Let's Go. This to me really just indicates a lack of effort on Gamefreak's part. They know that whatever they do, the game will sell well. Thus they'll just put in minimal effort and people will defend them for it.
Not everything is wrond with these games though. I like the concept of Master Trainers for example. I think it could be expanded upon so that it doesn't just fall down to whoever has the faster Pokémon wins but there's definitely potential for some fun post-game content there.
To be honest, it is very difficult to think of more positive things to say about Let's Go so I'll just wrap up my review with the next few sentences. I don't know who these games are for. I don't think kids are too stupid to play any of the other mainline games and I don't think if you have nostalgia for gen 1 that you would seriously enjoy these games more than the originals or Firered/Leafgreen. Let's Go feels like the biggest stepback in the history of Pokémon. Now we'll just have to hope that Gamefreak keeps Let's Go seperate from the "real" mainline games and that they'll positively surprise us with next year's entry.

I don't care about the target of these games but in my eyes this is unacceptable and a symptom of laziness on GF's part.
I don't want GF to hold my hand during the entire game, i want challenge. They should have made a game where competitive is accessible by more people, they should have introduced mechanics to make the training of competitive pokemon faster. i don't want to talk about pokeball plus and GO connectivity, i think they are garbage.
I feel GF is making fun of us veterans, i can't see anything of what i love about pokemon in these games which recycle an old region, only add a few new mechanics and trashes a lot of consolidated mechanics from 20 years of franchise.
I think I'll play Zelda BOTW since i didn't finish it, perhaps i'll start master mode (yes GF that is a game, and i'm not talking about the open world, i am talking about the technical aspects of that game, if pokemon ever reached that level i would be the happiest man in the world. I know it will never happen but dreaming is beautiful). I'm waiting with pleasure the 2019 titles with little hope for a change compared to the last years.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I bought this game to get a confrmation of everything. (This game is a joke).
First of all it's a 3ds/mobile game with chibi models ported on a Gaming Console, we are in 2018.. why?
The 3ds games are graphically better (Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun/Moon, even Omega Ruby/Sapphire)
Every important moves, abilities are removed (really important on a mainline game, this looks like a spinoff), other gens pokemons also the evolutions are removed, egg system is removed.
No battle encounter, the stats of every pokemon are broke, the catch system is clean by the way.
A level 19 Drowzee can beat a level 70 Drowzee master trainer.. When i tested i was like, what the hell is this... ( You can literally sweep the entire super 4 with a lvl 19 pokemon)
During a battle my eevee got frozen, but when i changed him he walked back to me without any problem (wtf? you can't come back you should be frozen).
In 2018 a Blastoise keep using hydro pump with its head instead the cannons(I'm comfused).
During a legendary battle, if you soft reser to get it shiny, in the overworld wil still look normal.
The normal mons in the overworld can be found shiny, but not the legendary (only during the battle).
You can't ride a ninetales and a pidgeot, but you can ride a starmie and a haunter.
The protagonists are kids (the 90% of the community is over 20)
The rival should be a real rival, but it's a little friendly kid that fight you in name of love..
The npcs are more rivals than your rival.
The battle theme of Giovanni, the boss of team rocket, is now the same as every team rocket npc.
Walking around the street, you can notice that there is shadow over houses but not on you.
No sevii island, no Johto region (You can tell me, yeah it's a remake) but what's the excuse about megas? They are not part of pokemon yellow, also some johto npc are inside of this game.
Day and night cycle is removed, if you want some night vibes you must go to Sabrina gym.
Frame rate drops on viridian forest, come on...

This game is unofficially a bad made spinoff (They are telling us that this is a mainline game).
The next year Mondial league luckily will be in Ultra Sun and Moon and not on this spinoff game.
If they are telling that this is a mainline game, then future games will be like this.

Even the kids of my city are disappointed and laughed at this game, we are in 2018 and a 10 years old kid know everything and also expect nice games.
This game doesn't deserve to be on a gaming console, it should be on a phone store.
Who buy gaming consoles want a gaming console game and not a phone game, otherwise what would be the purpose to buy a gaming console?
