    While the game is quite easy, it is a LOT of fun. The motion controls aren't very great for catching pokemon but the Pokeball Plus does make it a bit easier. I've been playing Pokemon since the early 2000's and I would consider myself a hardcore fan. This game is GREAT for what it's meant to be. Casuals and hardcore fans can enjoy it. I really don't mind wild battles not being in the gameWhile the game is quite easy, it is a LOT of fun. They didn't feel like Pokemon anymore.     Why, you may ask? Well over the years as I learned to use the various game mechanics (IV'S EV'S etc.) to my advantage, all the Pokemon (even new releases) just became numbers for me. They didn't feel like Pokemon anymore. I didn't feel like I was playing a Pokemon game, instead I was just playing a numbers game where you could replace the Pokemon with static stick men and nothing would change.

    This game was a refreshing change in that it removed most of the numbers and made the focus on catching Pokemon (You know, gotta catch 'em all, and all that?). I felt like a kid again, I felt like I just wanted to catch them all just because I could, and not just because I felt I needed a specific stick man for breeding to get some specific skill for another stick man.

    The game however was a bit too easy, but it didn't really bother me because I was having fun, honest to god fun. Something I hadn't experienced in ANY game for a long long while. Just good old fun with no calculating optimal stick figure builds or the weight of the world weighing down on my shoulders. I was on a journey with Pokemon, and that's all there was to it.

    However as much I liked this nice little break between Pokemon games I still feel the next game should be a more traditional game. This game, even though I did enjoy it as a nice break, should indeed stay as just a break from the usual formula. There's just something about building the perfect stick man.     Great fun relaxed style of play and occasionally very challenging. Having not owned or played any of the previous Pokémon games I was pleasantly surprised by how addictive it could be I highly recommend it.

    Long review: this game is a pokemon game, if you like the other 28 previous entries, you're going to like this. It has a few changes that you may make you think twice (like how to capture pokemon) but it blends well with the game. The game has one of the higher inmersion in the franchise. The cut-scenes are great and the aesthetics is one of the best ones so far.    TL;DR: A pokemon game.

    I’ll be reviewing this from the five pillars of Gaming, Story, Graphics, Gameplay, Sound, and Controls.

    Let’s begin with the story – You’re a Pokemon trainer, and your goal is to become a Pokemon Master, yeah and along the way you just happen to encounter this evil organization bent on world domination, and you, being that 10-year-old Pokemon Master, are the only one who can help.    I’ll be reviewing this from the five pillars of Gaming, Story, Graphics, Gameplay, Sound, and Controls.

    Let’s begin with the story –

    You’re a Pokemon trainer, and your goal is to become a Pokemon Master, yeah and along the way you just happen to encounter this evil organization bent on world domination, and you, being that 10-year-old Pokemon Master, are the only one who can help.
    Yup, this is basically Pokemon Yellow all over again, and that isn’t a bad thing, but again, 12th and 13th time you’ve may have done this…

    Story checks out, but Gameplay is the most controversial change -
    Capturing Pokemon – Bonus’s are offered for better captures like Candies, and after capturing multiple Pokemon you can capture one with better stats as a possibility.
    Pokemon appear on the over-world, while still mostly constrained to the spawning areas, caves, grass, water, you can see them, avoid them if you want or force the encounter you want, instead of random encounters.

    Some people were worried about wild Pokemon battles being gone and the experience Grind, but in this game, you gain XP from multiple sources which balances out the lack of random wild battles, but I still feel like it is somewhat missed.
    Some people feel there are plenty of Pokemon trainers in place of wild battles, but I still find it would be better to be able to test these new Pokemon captures in a wild battle before a trainer battle, but eh…
    Ridable Pokemon replace the old bike, which is pretty cool because I always wanted to fly on a Charizard in Gen 1

    And this is a remake/remaster/ Pokemon GO and Yellow smashed together, so yes, I can now ride Charizard…and Dragonite, and Rapidash, and Arcanine…
    This is the first Pokemon main series game that is co-opable, but the second player is more of a tag along helper than a primary player themselves.
    It is very great that you can play this game with your child, cousin, friend, whomever wants to play with you can now join in the fun without getting too deeply involved in the game.

    The starter Pokemon are very focused on here -
    Pikachu and Eevee are the ones that are focused on most out of all the Pokemon – they have unique cutscenes, animations, and interactivity.
    Pikachu has some special moves to compensate for it being an electric type as a starter, but Eevee can learn a special move from its Eeveeluition forms, just don’t judge whomever created the names, cause they are really bad, like Baddy bad.

    These new moves have been called OP by many people who have played the game extensively, and to that I simply say you could get moves like Bubble Beam, Thunderbolt, Psychic, Ice Beam, Rock Slide, and Body Slam fairly early in the original Gen 1 games.
    These kinds of games require a player to limit themselves if they want a challenge, because you are not required to keep either Eevee or Pikachu in your team.
    The user interface is completely different, cleaned up menus seem much more modern and look great.

    Go Park is the transferable location where you can send your Pokemon from Pokemon GO to Pokemon Let’s GO, via mini games, it’s great if you played Pokemon GO a lot and will save you a lot of time if you want to challenge every master trainer in the game.
    Because every Master Trainer requires each and every Pokemon, Pidgey, Pidgiotto, Pidgiot… Caterpie, Metepod, Butterfree…
    Every one of them, and… yeah Pokemon Go transferring will save you that time of once again, recapturing them all…

    Controls would be the next biggest change because this game is reliant on motion controls…
    Motion controls are not good, handheld mode works better, but the accuracy of throwing a ball via a joycon is similar to Pokemon GO, it’s not the best.
    And the capture chances always feel random, sometimes a low-level Pokemon will just break free instantly for no discernible reason.
    But to add to this you can buy a Pokeball accessory that contains Mew, more importantly, you can use the Pokeball as a special Joy-con controller, which is supposed to enhance the experience… but… yeah.

    I’ll leave that to your personal opinion, is $40 worth the money to play a Pokemon game with a Pokeball controller, that’s a hard sale for me, but maybe not for you.
    Finally let’s finish with sounds, and from the music to the sound effects, it’s gen 1 and it never sounded so good. They sound great and invoke a great amount of nostalgia.
    Pokémon is really great, and Let’s GO Pikachu will bring Kanto back once again, and finally to the big screen.

    If you don’t enjoy Pokemon GO, you probably will not enjoy this, but if you can enjoy this game a nice nod back to the gen 1 series, you’ll probably have a good time with this game.
    I have tried to avoid all spoilers of this game by using certain footage for those whom haven’t had a chance to play this generation yet.    … Expand

    What is it/The Good: For those who don't know, Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and it's counterpart Pokemon Let's Go Eevee are the newest titles for the Pokemon Franchise. Setting place in the original    Intro: Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu (and Eevee) are great games for a laid back casual experience. However, for those who seek a competitive for deep adventure, these games may not be for you.

    What is it/The Good: For those who don't know, Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and it's counterpart Pokemon Let's Go Eevee are the newest titles for the Pokemon Franchise. Setting place in the original Pokemon region known as Kanto, this game takes a classic journey into the modern day by replacing traditional wild encounters with catching Pokemon like in Pokemon Go, the popular mobile game. This region still has the eight gym leaders, elite four, champion, rival battles, and trainer battles just like the other games. Also, the OG evil team, Team Rocket, returns in this game along with the goofy trio Jessie, James, and Meowth. The game also makes the world of Kanto into a place full of life by re-adding Pokemon following your character and introduces wild roaming Pokemon on the routes in Kanto, a feature that I have seen many times in the community, and also the ability to ride certain Pokemon like Charizard and Arcanine like the Pokemon Trainer you are. Speaking of which, the game also limits the soon to be 900 Pokemon to the original 151 and Alolan Form Pokemon from the Sun and Moon games, making it easier for anyone to fill and at least fill the Kanto Dex. Catching Pokemon in this game is just like how it is in Pokemon Go. It can sometimes be tricky to throw a Pokeball in the beginning, but over time I was able to get it down no problem so it shouldn't be too hard for others to get the motion controls down. Plus, you can always put the Switch in handheld mode and move it around your area and snag that pocket monster. Along with the catching mechanics, mobile trainers can now transfer their Pokemon from Pokemon Go to either Let's Go title and train their team on the Switch. However, once a Pokemon is sent away like this, they cannot return to Pokemon Go. Another thing to mention is that the games do a very decent job with visuals/graphics, while others might not enjoy it as much, the games do look great for the most part. In other words, it's not bad to look at.

    The Bad: Along with what I believe was good, it's time to look at what many people are complaining about. Along with what the games added, Game Freak also took away many different features that modern Pokemon games are known for. Features such as EV's and IV's, breeding, egg moves, and etc. to make this game more of a casual and easy to pick title than previous titles. By removing these factors, many competitive and old-school fans are upset that these games were not what they have envisioned the first RPG Pokemon game on the Switch would be like. Also while some people may not mind this, many also dislike the removal of all other Pokemon from different generations. However, to be fair the games were not made for a competitive experience and were not marketed for competitive players at all. Although I can understand why these changes do upset many fans of the franchise. Also, the price of $60 is a bit too much even for me.

    Overall Thoughts: Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee are great games for casuals and beginners to pick up. There are definitely not the greatest Pokemon games and that's fine. While they are not the best for veteran and competitive players, they definitely great gifts for the holiday along with other Switch games like Mario Odyssey, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Legend of Zelda BOTW, and Splatoon 2. If you are still unsure about the games, well that's fine too. WIth the next main Pokemon titles coming in 2019, all of the removed competitive features and Pokemon from other generations will be making a come back in those games so you can wait on that. Plus, the Let's Go games might get a price drop around those times as well. Overall though, these games are great for a casual and relax experience and should be seen as just that. For more information, I would recommend looking at different Pokemon Youtubers and see what they think about the game, look at gameplay footage, and look at reviews from all angles. I hope you've enjoyed this long first review and I'll try and do more like this in the future. Also, excuse me for any major grammar mistakes I might have missed.    … Expand

    No me gustaría que las entregas principales acabasen adoptando muchas de las mecánicas de este juego, a pesar de eso, el juego es muy divertido, es familiar ya que es el juego con el que inicié en la saga hace ya 19 años, pero tiene cambios que lo hacen fresco y divertido.
    Este juego me ha sacado más de una carcajada.

    Let's Go is a simplified experience that's perfect for easing in children and newcomers, and has enough nostalgia and fun gameplay to tide me over until the Generation 8 games bring a more traditional Pokemon game experience, As long as you don't go in expecting Generation 8    A beautiful, straightforward game that will definitely succeed at bringing new players into the franchise.

    I personally enjoy more this game than Sword and Shield. The music is great, the gameplay may be dumbed out and made more for children, but I found the battles really fun to play and most of the Kanto region features are present. This is a game I totally recommend.

Le gameplay a par ailleurs quelque peu changé, principalement la capture, qui ici est plutôt celle du jeu mobile Pokémon GO. Un pari audacieux, je préfère la méthode classique, mais ça passe… c'est surtout graphiquement qu'il a été génial à redécouvrir, donc merci aux    → Pokémon jaune remastered !

    This game is a simplified Pokemon game. Great for someone new to the series, veterans may find it a bit too simple. I have played since Blue version so I enjoyed revisiting Kanto in improved graphics. I found the game to be well-made and enjoyed shiny hunting in the post game. Pokemon in the over world was a great quality of life improvement.

    Very casual games, but with pokemon, that's not a problem for me at all. The graphics are kinda nice, the music is outstanding and they absolutely nailed ride and following pokemon (and then forgot how to do it in SwSh and BDSP), wich shouldn't mean so much to me, but it does. It also really nicely remixes the original encounter tables and introduces overworld pokemon to the series!

The game added graphical    I'm an old school, die-hard Pokemon fan. I spent hundreds of hours playing the old Pokemon games (red, blue, green, gold and silver, then Fire red, Emerald green etc.), and I've watched the anime since the very beginning.

    Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu! is the 2018 version of the proverbial Game Boy Color games. The original 152 Pokemon, the Kanto region. The game added graphical enhancements (not to mention Pokemon roaming freely in the wild) and rewarding little features such as being able to ride your favorite Pokemon (you can fly on your Charizard, c'mon, what's not to like!).

    What most people seem not to be okay with is the 'Pokemon Go'-like battle/capture mechanics. Gym battles and battling against other trainers remain loyal to the franchise, what has really changed is how you weaken Pokemon before you catch them. You don't grind and battle Pokemon in the wild like in the old days. Now it's basically the Pokemon-Go system, where you simply lure them with berries and what not, keep throwing a pokeball until you get them, and by capturing the same Pokemon over and over, you level up your Pokemon.

    In my personal opinion, that absolutely does NOT mean that the developers did a bad job, or that the game is any less interesting or engaging. It's bringing in people from a different generation, people that have experienced this much beloved franchise in a different way than we did.

    The only real issue that I see (and that's based on a completely personal reason) is that if you prefer to play with your Switch docked like I do, you must get used to only using one of the joy cons to move around, catch Pokemon etc. So I'm rating it 8. Otherwise it would've been a 9.

    All in all, Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu! is a gem for real Pokemon fans, young and old. And for those that witnessed how times (and gaming) has changed, it brings a fresh breeze that still carries that wonderful scent we all remember playing the older games that were released 22 years ago.    … Expand

    I found this game really enjoyable to play when your playing through the story but when you finish the story your not left with much to do other than catch every Pokemon and battle online (which costs money) but other than that good game!

    Jugué al Pokémon Amarillo hace mil años y nunca pude terminármelo. Supongo que nunca he sido gran fan de los videojuegos de Pokémon y supongo que no era el momento. Con este remake debo decir que la experiencia ha sido satisfactoria. Volver a Kanto ha sido muy divertido y volver a capturar a los 150 iniciales una alegría. Creo que uno de los puntos más positivos del juego es que no haceJugué al Pokémon Amarillo hace mil años y nunca pude terminármelo. Supongo que nunca he sido gran fan de los videojuegos de Pokémon y supongo que no era el momento. Con este remake debo decir que la experiencia ha sido satisfactoria. Volver a Kanto ha sido muy divertido y volver a capturar a los 150 iniciales una alegría. Creo que uno de los puntos más positivos del juego es que no hace falta combatir con los pokémon para capturarlos. El juego sigue el sistema de Pokémon Go que es todo un acierto. Lanzas la pokeball con alguna baya para que sea más fácil la captura y listo. Lo que hace al juego más llevadero. Habrá gente que no le guste, pero para los nuevos jugadores o para quien no sea muy fan de la saga, este juego para iniciarse sería el perfecto.     this is a nice cute relaxing pokemon game i adore the lets go catching mechanics would love a johto version as well. my only complaint is the lack of games in celedon I want my slot machines and voltorb flip back.

    Ahh yes, pokemon let's go pikachu. It reminds of my very first pokemon game, Pokemon yellow. The game is really fun with the catching and all but it gets really repetitive but man! The post game is so fun! I also like how you dont need 2 games to complete the dex, just get pokemon GO and your set!

It is a shame they use the GO style catching mechanics and have removed wild pokemon battles all together. And the exp share take away the challenge. i have fond memories of playing rby on gbc.     Mucha gente critica lo de las capturas de Pokemon por ejemplo, o la dificultad. Lo de las capturas realmente no es algo malo. Hay muchísimos combates contra entrenadores Pokemon, os vais a hartar, y realmente es algo que le da variedad y frescor. Si acaso criticar que es idéntico a los visto en Pokemon Go y puede que haya gente que esté ya un poco quemada de ese sistema, pero la verdad es que funciona genial.

    La dificultad: al principio el juego es horriblemente fácil, más o menos hasta cuando llegas al segundo líder. A partir de ahí el juego aumenta de dificultad y los combates se hacen realmente interesantes. Es necesario pensar antes de actuar y demás cosas típicas de los RPG. La dificultad en un RPG para mi es vital y he de decir que este Pokemon cumple perfectamente, algo que me preocupaba ya que no paraba de oír que sería demasiado fácil, y no lo es ni de lejos.

    Gráficamente el juego es super colorido y tiene un aire que encantará a cualquiera. La banda sonora es una auténtica pasada cómo está hecha, da gusto oírla.

    ¿Qué pondría como pegas?.
    1) Algunas zonas son algo repetitivas... Por ejemplo zonas con demasiados combates y así.
    2) Problemas de rendimiento muy extraños al menos en modo portátil. Puedo entender que se ralentice el juego cuando aparecen muchos Pokemon salvajes (aunque con los gráficos tan simplones que tiene, no debería entenderlo tampoco...), pero, hay momentos, como al abrir ciertos menús, que la tasa de frames cae alarmantemente, al punto de molestar incluso. Es algo que no entiendo y que deberían arreglar.
    3) ¿Falta de novedades?. Tengo entendido que no hay mucha novedad con respecto al Pokemon amarillo original. De hecho se han eliminado cosas como los huevos y alguna que otra que le habrían venido a este Let's Go que ni pintado.

    Le pondría incluso un 8 a este juego, pero sinceramente creo que quizá podría haber dado algo más de sí: más innovación, nuevos sistemas en vez de coger el sistema de captura de Pokemon Go por ejemplo...
    Esta era una oportunidad de oro para innovar de verdad y en vez de ello se han centrado demasiado en hacer un remake que, por otro lado, ha quedado de lujo y encantará tanto a nuevos como a experimentados.

    Considero que es un juego MUY recomendable, pero si te gustan los JRPGs, hay otros en Switch como Octopath Traveler que le da mil vueltas a este (y otros que se quedan muy atrás, como el World of Final Fantasy, que intenta seguir la estela de Pokemon fracasando en casi todo y con una dificultad penosa).    … Expand

    Oh well, it's Pokemon, I bought for my daughter so I could avoid constantly playing Mario Party or Splatoon. I know it is supposed to be based on an older Pokemon game, but I have only played 3 or so titles in the series. This is the first one I finished and I was actually surprised that it was finished so quickly, around 25 hours or so. The graphics is the best in the series and a niceOh well, it's Pokemon, I bought for my daughter so I could avoid constantly playing Mario Party or Splatoon.     You can transfer some of your Pokemon Go creatures to the Switch (but not back) which helps you complete the Pokedex. Story is very Pokemon typical, nice, but nothing special, quite child friendly. I don't care for the Pokemon franchise (my favorite game on the Switch is Octopath Traveler), but for playing co-op with my daughter "Let's Go" is quite fun.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a decent entry. It's clearly geared more towards kids / people new to the series, but it still has some thing for more experienced players as well.

    What I liked:

    I REALLY liked the new encounter system. Honestly, one of the biggest things I hate about the older games is constantly running into Zubats and other annoying wild encounters just trying to walk through an area. I really liked being able to explore the routes and caves without having to run from encounters every couple steps. Some times a 'mon will spawn right in front of you, but it's rare and you can typically get through an entire section without any encounters if you want to.

    One of the other reasons I really like this is because, since I don't like to get a lot of encounters, it helped keep my team at the appropriate level. I was almost always about the same level as each gym leader's team when I fought them, which is way more fun and challenging than being overleveled.

    I also really like the way they have shinies in this game. Being able to chain combos to increase shiny odds, and also see the shinies on the overworld (instead of have to constantly encounter and run away) makes it way more enjoyable to shiny hunt. I haven't done it a ton, but I have gotten a shiny Raticate, Chansey, and Dewgong so far. I've played like 5-6 other pokemon games and have only ever gotten a shiny Yanmega (from Ultra Wormholes) in all of those combined!

    There isn't much postgame (see my "negative" comments), but one thing I do like is that you can go back and fight the gym leaders again. And that they have much stronger teams for the rematches, so that it's actually a fun fight.

    Oh yeah, one of the best improvements to the series in a LONG time was getting rid of HMs. I hate having to waste moveslots on my team for required moves like Cut, Strength, Surf, etc. and it was so great to not have to do that in this game. Being able to use those skills in the overworld without having to mess around with your team to make sure you have the right 'mon was so much better.

    And I also loved being able to switch your team any time, without having to go back to a PC. Sure, this could potentially be used to make the game easier, but I actually used it to make the game harder: boxing pokemon that were starting to get overleveled without having to waste my time going all the way back to a pokecenter to do so.

    I also liked how you could transfer mons from Pokemon Go into the game. Wish it included more than just gen 1, but it was still nice to be able to complete the Pokedex myself instead of have to rely on finding trading partners. I do wish this feature was available earlier in the game, but it is accessible after like the 3rd or 4th gym, so I guess that's not too bad.

    What I didn't like:

    The biggest thing I hated about this game was that each gym had an arbitrary requirement to enter. Like the very first gym requires that you have a grass or water type, or you can't enter. But what if I didn't want one of them on my team? The worst offender of this is Koga's gym, which requires that you have caught 50 pokemon. I was playing with Nuzlocke rules and had only caught NINE pokemon by the time I got to his gym, so I didn't appreciate having to go "grind" and catch a bunch of pokemon that I didn't want just to be able to progress. Nintendo always tries to force people to play "their way" and this is one of the worst cases of that. There is literally no reason for having this restriction other than they want you to have caught a bunch, but again, what if I don't want to?

    I didn't like the catching mechanic. I get they were trying to make it like Pokemon Go, but it was more annoying than anything. And, as I said above, I rarely caught anything. I can't imagine playing this and actually catching tons of mons with this mechanic. It was so frustrating to try to catch anything besides the very easy early route mons, especially legendaries. It wasn't even challenging, just annoying.

    I was kind of disappointed by the very scaled back movesets. One of the most interesting things about these games is being able to customize your team with all kinds of moves. And even though they did have all 18 types in the game, it just seemed like the movesets were very small and limited.

    Virtually no postgame. I did like that you can go back and battle tougher gym leaders and Elite Four teams, but... that's pretty much it. There is no Battle Area, no post game story, literally nothing to do except re-fight the gym leaders and go catch MewTwo. Okay, there are also the "Masters" of each type, but each at level 75, it's just basically grinding.

    Overall:

    Good introductory game for new players (my 5 year old loves it), decent for returning players, but lacking a lot of substance.    … Expand

    Pokemon Let's Go is, what I'm sure to be, a remake of Pokemon Yellow, with the additional version for Eevee fans. Right off the bat, it's the best Kanto has ever looked, with the nice visuals being present from the start till the end. I do feel it's a good looking game. And I'll be real, I didn't feel like I was getting bored through the story itself. Sure it's nothing new, but the few little changes placed here and there, be it big story changes or just little details that reference bits of the originals or even future games, are nice through and through. For example, Vermilion City has a gentleman in his house with a Farfetch'd stating he wants to go catch a Spearow, a clear reference to the little girl who would trade her Farfetch'd for a Spearow in the original games. I like the attention to detail, even if they don't impact much. While the idea of Pokemon GO catching mechanics worked okay in the game, I definitely do not want to see it become the new normal and I certainly don't want to see it come back for a future title.

    I know that paragraph is pretty short for the pros of the game, but I can't help but say these games are FAR from the best the series has to offer. While the director of the games calls them core games, I can't see them as anything but spin-off titles. It doesn't matter who this game was targeted to, the amount of staple ideas removed does not cut it for a core game in my eyes. The game is missing around half of the established moves from past games, the inability to have hold items, removal of abilities, removal of more than 600 Pokemon and more, there's too much missing and there really is no excuse for it. You can make a game that is beginner friendly that doesn't remove half of Pokmeon's established progress. Hold items, maybe I can understand that. But the removal of abilities is something that won't sit right with me regardless. Even the idea of only 151 Pokemon can be worked around, instead of the developers sticking to their favorite Kanto only Pokedex. It's as simple as introducing a large number of gen 2-7 Pokemon AFTER you beat the game.

    I know that Pokemon Let's Go are meant to be bridging points for people who only played Pokemon GO, but I don't think that should've been how Pokemon made it's true debut on the Switch. There's a difference between the fanbase that's been with Pokemon for a long time and people who only played Pokemon GO cause they have a phone. And to regard the fact that this is the fifth trip back to Kanto doesn't do it for someone who isn't Kanto nostalgic. I would truly recommend these games to the very audience they're targeting; the Pokemon GO only players. If you've never played a Pokemon game, I can even recommend Sun/Moon/Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon beforehand, even if those games have their own flaws. But for those who have been with Pokemon for a long time, best save your excitement and your money for the 2019 titles. These aren't terrible games, but they're not for those looking for a true Pokemon experience.    … Expand

I like some of the new mechanics, I love that Pokemon can follow you and sometimes have more use than just that. I like that catching Pokemon is more important now. I love that the PC is now portable. The game is a little disappointing in that wild encounter battles are now removed and it does make battling gym leaders more difficult but only because grinding now revolves around catching everything. I think the game has a lot of potential if it mixed what it tried to do with stuff that people enjoy about pokemon. Like:

    1. You can remove random encounters but allow people to still battle the pokemon
    2. Improve the trading system by allowing some form of communication
    3. Include more trainers(nitpicking but a genuine complaint of mine)
    4. Just let them breed
    5. Abilities maybe weren't in the first generation but they make the game more fun

    The game I feel is not worth a zero. It tries something different while trying to appeal to a younger audience and making it easier to new players. Trying something new which is a good thing considering how often people complain how all Pokemon games are the same.

    It does have some things for us older players(20 years now for me) and just needs a bit more of a polishing. I enjoyed myself even though it might be a rocky start to Pokemon on the switch but it is at least a fun way to get going    … Expand

Let's Go is far from a perfect game, and it has lots of times where it's more frustrating over fun but all in all I haveI'll start off by saying I've had fun playing Let's Go, Pikachu. I have been playing the series since Pokemon Red first came out. I still remember going to class one morning and hearing the other kids talk about this thing called 'pokemon'. Well I was hooked since then. Let's Go is far from a perfect game, and it has lots of times where it's more frustrating over fun but all in all I have had fun with it. I think they added far too much from Pokemon Go, and not enough from the main series, but I understand that this is a temporary casual game to hold us over for the next main line title. I can even get over having to use your joy con to toss the pokeball. But I think this games main crux is the inability to battle wild pokemon to weaken them for capture. I knew that it was going to take some getting used to, but it's just wrong. I really hope that they keep a few things from this game for the next main line title, but I hope that this is a one off casual title that we won't be seeing more of in the near future.… Expand

    Think for yourself on this game - if you want a core Pokemon RPG, skip this, and play Ultra Sun/Moon. If you want an enjoyable diversion, gab this game. You'll enjoy it, if you're looking for that. Temper your expectations appropriately - my only regret with this game is that I purchased the Pokeball controller. I am enjoying LGP for what it is.     So, I am def a Pokemon vet, played all the games since Red and Blue, heavy into the competitive scene. All I gotta say is, yeah this game leaves lots to be desired, especially since the last titles Sun and Moon. The game visually looks okay, honestly it doesn't live up to my expectations, I feel the game kind of looks like an indie game, especially since so much content has been removed,So, I am def a Pokemon vet, played all the games since Red and Blue, heavy into the competitive scene. Yet, this game provides so much beautiful nostalgia, the visuals are sweet and colorful, I love looking at them, just like how I love looking at your mother, you might not appreciate her but I do. Difficulty wise, the story for Pokemon games are usually a breeze, I still have to experience the E4 rematches and Battle Master trainers, I think I will find that enjoyable, but seriously, this game is hella easy. That is not a bad thing for me though, I am an adult and have to dedicate my time to other things, so I honestly don't mind it. Regarding capture mechanics, I am being honest, I honestly don't mind it at all. Joycon controls def take time to get used to. At first I thought the motion detection sucked because the pokeballs would go everywhere, only then did I realize I had no clue how to throw, the game should do a better job explaining that. It requires a very specific motion. I feel the capture mechanics make your pokemon level up quick. It was NOT fun in Pokemon red to have to dedicate hours grinding for a specific pokemon, only to realize that that particular pokemon is much weaker than your team. The recent games fix that. I feel this game is more of an entree, before the main dish next year. If you can't figure out what the means, basically this is something Gamefreak has given us to stall us until next year. Next years game should be amazing.

    If you're gonna play this game, stop being a salty lil **** and play it with an open mind, it is enjoyable in its own unique way. At the same time, being a hardcore Pokemon fan, I do find myself agreeing with the upset crowd. But still, stop being a lil **** and maybe give it a shot.    … Expand

The game is beautiful, fun and nostalgic. New features such as climb on the pokemon and see them on the grass are fantastic additions. The last one was very annoying in the past games, since everytime you go into a cave itGame Freak could have accomplished so much more with this game. However, Game Freak could have absorbed another cool feature form pokemon go other than the capture mode. For instance, every city on the game has a light pole. How great would it be if the time passes and we've had afternoon and night during the game, requiring us to look for shelter, make a campfire and so on?     Great entry game for beginner or young kids as excellent interaction between player and pokemon, but bit stressful to keep trying to catch pokemon (too much time spending compare to battle) and too much pressure on budget to buy pokeballs :(

As someome who plays pokemon mainly for the single player content I had more fun here than I did in gen 7 and its many tutorials and 1 pokemon for 80% of trainers. I missed dungons like The Rocket Base and Seafoam Islands for 2 gens now so I was happy to have them back even if the encoutersI was surprised at how much I actualy enjoyed this game as going in I expected to be dissaponted. As someome who plays pokemon mainly for the single player content I had more fun here than I did in gen 7 and its many tutorials and 1 pokemon for 80% of trainers. I missed dungons like The Rocket Base and Seafoam Islands for 2 gens now so I was happy to have them back even if the encouters were easier than the gen 1 or 3 versions of Kanto. I expected to be frustrated with the lack of wild battles, ablities, and held items instead I found I only slightly missed wild battles more so for the better control over the catch rate vs the actual wild entcounters themselves as I think back to the old games and comsider the fact I ran from everyting I didn't want to catch. Ablities and Held Items I didn't miss at all as it was this game that made me realize how little I actualy use those outside of PvP battles and how anyoing they can be on some NPC trainer pokemon aka you can now ues a physial attack a electric pokemon without the fear of static paralyzing your pokemon! The Go mechanica dont bother me but like i said before Id rather weaken the pokemon before throwing the ball. What is I find the bigest problem is the same problem is the same problem I have with gens 6&7 trainers need more pokemon and at higher levels I didn't find this a problem if I avoided uesing the chain catchng tecnique to get rare and better IV&EV pokemon to apear but when I did I very quickly found myself overleveled to the point of KOing Brock's Onix with my Pikachu as he was level 16 and all because I wanted a Bulbasuar. Also if you play pokemon with competive multiplayer in mind this definatly isn't the game for you and should probably wait for gen 8 instead of geting this. I did get the pokeball plus with Mew but I'd definatly say while it added to the experince it isn't worth $50 if you can somehow get it for $20 or $30 it is more of a value. There are a few things here I hope cary over to gen8 and those are Pokemon Box in my Bag as that encouraged me to be more experimental and rotational with my team instead of sticking to just 6 pokemon since i no longer had to go to a pokemon center to switch out, chain catching encouraged me to hunt for better pokemon and shinies so keep that too, pokemon wandering in the wild instead of random encounters made finding what I wanted faster and caves much less of a nightmare(NO MORE ZUBAT EVERY 2 STEPS!) and saved me a fortune on Repels too! Those 3 things I want to see in gen8! Overal I wouldn't say this is my favorite pokemon game (my top 3 being Gale of Darkness, HGSS, and Gen 5 parts 1 and 2) but I would say its in my top 10 something gen 6 & 7 arent ( I am counting spinoffs like mystery dungon and stadium here) this game was poorly advertized to us in my opinon to us by Game Freak as they only showed the worst of this game to us instead of anything thay would have sold us on it I only got it because of a friend recomended I try it out and I had extra cash lieing around with nothing better to get (I had smash resevered months ago) to those of you who have your doubts about the game and maybe review bombing it curently I encourage you to at least rent the game and play it from beging to end before decideing its a 0-3/10 when at bare minimum if you don't like it I think you'll agree it's at least a 4 or 5. I gave it a 7 out of 10 as while I enjoyed my time there are some issues that need worked out if they were to do a remake like this again but I wouldn't mind seeing such as long as we get more traditional games a year or so after. I'd say I'd even be willing to pay $20 bucks for a Johto DLC expansion for this game! What I am certain of is I had fun and it isn't the dumbed down baby's first pokemon I was expecting it to be.… Expand

    My Pokémon journey started way back in the day, on my Gameboy Pocket (a red one) with Pokémon Blue. I've played nearly every mainline game since that point with a few exceptions so needless to say I'm familiar, even a little worn out with the formula.

    The Let's Go games are an easy, very streamlined version of Pokémon Yellow.     The Let's Go games are an easy, very streamlined version of Pokémon Yellow. It's an attempt by Nintendo and the Pokémon Company to entice users of the Pokémon Go mobile game into a home console setting, of which many may never have considered themselves "gamers" or ever owned a home console. This is evident with several similarities in terms of core game mechanics along with tie ins to the mobile game.

    The first, and most obvious one is the name, there's no doubt the decision to name it "let's go!" was done to draw the attention of Pokémon Go players. Secondly, and perhaps the most controversial decision was replacing the traditional wild battles with the capture mechanic from the mobile game. Normally, you'd wander in grass until you "found" a Pokémon with the type you face being dictated by RNG. From there you'd fight it with your own Pokémon until it was in a weakened state at which point you'd chuck a few Pokéballs in the hope that you could capture it. With the shift towards the mobile game this has been entirely cut and replaced with simply throwing a Pokéball at a Pokémon that may or may not be moving around the screen. There's also a shrinking ring which dictates whether you get a "great" or "excellent" throw, whether this has an impact on catch rates I'm unsure but it certainly gives you higher XP gains. Needless to say, there's very little depth to this sort of encounter. You can throw different berries at Pokémon to calm it (stop it jumping around) or to make them slightly easier to catch however that's about all there is to it.

    Outside of these encounters the game is mostly the same as it always has been, you fight trainers on the road and endeavour to collect eight gym badges so that you can challenge the Elite Four and become a Pokémon Champion. You also have your "friendly" rival, who this time is a childhood friend and not a jerk. I called my rival "(Not) Gary" and you meet him many times on the course of your play through as per previous titles.

    Graphically the game is rather basic in terms of it's art style however that's not to say it looks bad. Pokémon has never looked this good in my opinion and it's great to see a HD title finally hitting the Switch. The Pokémon themselves look fantastic and some of the moves have really exciting animations which really put things into perspective when you think of those classic 2D sprites on a greyscale LCD screen. Put simply, the game looks great and performance was solid across the board. I did notice a few very minor FPS drops when playing in hand held mode but it didn't detract from the overall experience at all.

    The music also sounds great, with those classic tunes getting a rehash for modern times. The voice work for Pikachu and Eevee is also lovely, with Pikachu sounding incredibly cute with his "Pika pika!" antics as we've come to love over the years. I was however disappointed that the other Pokémon still use the tired old sounds from the old Gameboy games. In this day and age with the development budgets involved for Pokémon I'm sure they could voice ALL those pocket monsters and not just the two titular examples. It's very jarring switching out Pikachu with the "pika!" to a frankly low quality and dated "grrrrdbrrrrrr" or whatever from whichever Pokémon you're bringing into the fray. You can do better here Nintendo!

    Controls are limited strictly to the joy cons and Pokéball Plus. I can understand the lack of Pro Controller support to a point, but it's still a little disappointing. Personally I got the bundle with the Pokéball Plus and while it can feel a little cramped after a long play session for a child it will fit perfectly. I do have one criticism however and that is the lack of documentation for the device. You have the B button in the top of the Pokéball and the A button is a push button as part of the micro stick, what they don't tell you is that you can use the "Y" button by shaking the device to the side to access some menu options. It would have been nice to see some more explanation in game than what we get however it's a minor detail. Motion controls for both Pokéball Plus and joy cons work well, with just the occasional "where did that go?" moment when throwing Pokéballs. In hand held mode motion controls are used to adjust your view with the A button to throw Pokéballs.

    In all, I'm enjoying the game. It sets out to do what the developers intended and that's to bridge the gap between the mobile and main line titles. It's not for everyone especially veterans of the series. However it's fun and I can respect it as a Pokémon game in it's own right.    … Expand

    Have not finished the game, but here's my review. I personally don't think its a terrible Pokemon game at all, however it does have quite a bit of flaws in it. It would be great if Game Freak were to fix frame rate issues first off, but also please stop with the loading scenes into every little building, its getting old now.     However aside from those issues, the game is quite fun. I love the overall art style of this game. It really suits Pokemon quite well. The battling can be challenging if you let it, by not capturing many Pokemon, but if you do then its a piece of cake thus far. I think that this game is still Pokemon though where it's not over the top fantastic but its still an enjoyable game to play here and there.    … Expand

    Of course this is not good enough compared with other pokemon games, it lost so many good features from previous games. But it might be a good one for new people getting into this series.

    Let’s go pikachu is a nice recreation of Kanto but the problem is, I don’t wanna go back to kanto. I’d prefer if they did sinnoh or unova remakes but kanto? This is like the 5th time we return to generation 1. Also I don’t like it that they replaced traditional wild encounter battles with Pokémon go mechanics.     A year after release, I think this game is not as bas as we first thought. Graphics, while heavily inspired by Game Boy's original title, look polished and the gameplay is fine too. This game had a purpose and does its job very well. Nothing extraordinary, but it's undoubtedly fun.

The Pokemon world has arguably never looked better than in this game with nice lighting, a clean cohesive stlye, and pokemon looking their proper scale for once. The game has a lot of charm with it's buddy mechanics and throwbacks to the anime like Jessie and James. When it comes to gameplay though, the removal of wildA bit too simple for my liking, but has some nice aspects to it. The Pokemon world has arguably never looked better than in this game with nice lighting, a clean cohesive stlye, and pokemon looking their proper scale for once. The game has a lot of charm with it's buddy mechanics and throwbacks to the anime like Jessie and James. When it comes to gameplay though, the removal of wild battles in favor of GO-style catching is a bummer and there's really not much to do once you've beaten the main campaign outside of battling some trainers and rematching the gym leaders and elite 4.
    New to the game is candies which let you boost stats further than used to be possible. This can make the game way easier but is also interesting in that it can make otherwise unviable Pokemon be useful for once. I'm also a fan of the fact you can mount some Pokemon in the overworld like Arcanine and Charizard, which makes the game feel more alive.

    Overall, this is a nicely presented remake of Yellow version but it just doesn't offer enough content for the price point.    … Expand

I put about 85 hours into this game and caught most of the dex, but have very little desire to pick it back up again.     Esse Pokemon começou a mostrar a exaustão que eu já criei de tanto jogar essa franquia, a Nintendo não para de "chupar" tudo que ela pode desse jogo, e isso está começando a ficar repetitivo demais.

    It's a nice and simple remake of the original kanto games with its own charm. If only the sevii Islands were here, then this could be the definitive kanto game.

The game has a few simplified mechanics, for better or for worse, and a few additions that expand a story a bit and help to, at least to some extent, develop the characters more than they were in 1st and 3rd gen. Definitely not a game for hardcore Pokemaniacs (multiplayer is oversimplified and feels like it was abandoned at the early stages ofIt's an ultimate game to "Pokemon and chill". However, aside from that, the adaptation from the first gens is kinda lazy. Although it is nice to see your buddies follow you around, the whole game feels shallow. Corre a una resolución 1080p 60 fps en modo dock y 720p 60 fps en modo portátil. Banda Sonora: bastante buena, pero la    Remake del clásico Pokemon amarillo.

    Historia: la historia es muy similar a la original, pero presenta cambios ocasionales en la trama.

    Gráficos: Son preciosos, los nuevos modelados 3D de los 150 primeros pokemon + algunas formas de Alola son excepcionales. Corre a una resolución 1080p 60 fps en modo dock y 720p 60 fps en modo portátil.

    Banda Sonora: bastante buena, pero la opinión en este aspecto es algo subjetiva.

    Dificultad: el juego es un paseo, el endgame es bastante simplón y nada desafiante.

    Duración: la campaña principal tiene una duración de unas 18 horas. Pero se alargan notablemente si deseas completar la Pokedex, derrotar a los entrenadores legendarios, comprar la corona de 999.999 PokeDólares de Pikachu y haced varios shiny huntings. En mi caso le metí 100 horas a mi primera partida, pero fue más por fanatismo que por contenido real. Actualmente, estoy haciendo un nuzlocke con mis amigos, así que las horas aumentarán.

    Online: Una cagada por parte de Nintendo no apoyar este juego de forma online, no tiene búsqueda propia. Los jugarores nos buscábamos la vida poniendo el código triple Pikachu y rezábamos para que te emparejarán con un japo random. Actualmente no sé como estará el online después de la salida de Sword and Shield. La crianza en este juego es inexistente, simplemente utilizas un ítem que te pone full stats al Pokemon y a darte de hostias. Además, las naturalezas las podrías controlar mediante la adivina, así que ni siquiera necesitabas dedicarle mucho tiempo a la captura (yo estuve mucho tiempo capturando, pero por los shiny huntings).

    Captura: rompe la fórmula tradicional, sustitución del combate aleatorio por modelados 3D en la hierba en tiempo real. Sustitución de la fórmula tracional de captura por la de Pokemon Go.

    Como fallo gordo, el cual más me dolió, es que no pusieron la zona Safari. ¿Pero qué cojones? Era el juego perfecto para hacerlo. Supongo que fue por limitaciones.

    Conclusión: Pese a sus fallos, lo recomiendo para todo fan que priorice la nostalgia por encima de la calidad. Pero el juego no es necesariamente malo, como comento le metí la friolera de 100 horas aunque lo critique en este análisis. En mi opinión, fue una buena compra, pero hay que ser consciente de los fallos para que las compañías no se duerman en los laureles.    … Expand

Catering too much to kids and people looking for nostalgia has really taken away from everything I have loved about the franchise in recent years. I get that they wanted to simplify, but too much has been stripped, such as breeding, held items, abilities, GTS, etc. This gameIt's pokemon so I was always going to play and spend time with it, but I am disappointed in the game as a whole. Catering too much to kids and people looking for nostalgia has really taken away from everything I have loved about the franchise in recent years.     That doesn't mean I'm defending this game; when it has less content than Fire Red in the GBA days that's a warning sign. it's fun to see wild pokemon running around the routes ( a feature I hope that returns) or your own following behind you, each with some very fun animations. It's also not devoid of challenge; I'm at the fifth gym so far and I'd say there was 7-8 battles outside of gyms that tested me quite well. However the average trainer is a push-over and this really isn't helped by no wild pokemon battles.

    If you're semi-decent at any Pokemon game you will go fairly long periods of time with any Pokemon in danger, ESPECIALLY the starter. If you value any challenge barely use that OP thing. While it's cute to pat them it feels like a step down from Poke-Amie/Refresh which had every Pokemon; my partner is not my favourite member of my team but I don't get to bond with any of the others.

    There's some changes to Kanto I like; you meet some of Elite Four early in-game and they help you, unlike them being completely absent until the League. You and your rival have some extra scenes together. There's a funny scene in the Rocket Hideout where Eevee/Pikachu is playable to grab something you can't through a small space. There's also a few anti frustration QOL improvements like no HMs and a PC in your bag that make Kanto feel less dated. If you have a young child or someone who isn't hardcore into games, this would be a good first Pokemon game.

    The last thing I'd like to touch on is probably my biggest frustration with the game; NO evolution for Kanto Pokemon that appear in later games. Want a Kingdra? Too bad. Blissey? Nope. 5 whole Eevee evolutions missing in a game called Let's GO Eeeve/Pikachu. It's ridiculous and once again, FRLG had these evos in as well as a post-game. While it's a fully functioning game and there's some merit to be had, I can't fathom giving this more than a 7, and I'm giving it a 6 due to being locked out of Mew thanks to me not wanting to pay more.    … Expand

Me gusta que sea el primero de la franquicia en HD, que ahora los pokemons anden salvajes y no haya fundido a negro para capturarlos, la comodidad de tener el propio PC en el menú de forma que puedes cambiar tu equipo al instante (creo que esto no lo hace más fácil, simplemente menos tedioso).    -SPANISH-

    Siendo fan de Pokémon desde el 1ro este juego me ha dejado un sabor agridulce.     Pero hay cosas que no me gustan. Esta saga nunca ha brillado por su dificultad pero si Sol&Luna eran una risa éste no se queda atrás, se nota que lo han hecho especialmente pensado para atraer a la gente que juega Pokemon Go o alguien que no juega videojuegos pero jugó al amarillo hace 20 años y diga ''anda mira que mono sale Pikachu en la caratula, voy a revivir mi infancia''.

    El nuevo sistema de captura no es malo... pero está roto. No combates contra pokemons salvajes pero a su vez subes de nivel a todos los pokemons simplemente por capturar. Es ridículo.

    Sacando la parte positiva creo que pueden reciclar muchas cosas de este juego y mejorarlas para el Poke de 2019 y los siguientes.

    POSITIVO:
    - Gráficos y diseño artístico
    - Los pokémons ya no aparecen en fundido a negro sino en estado salvaje
    - El factor nostalgia si jugaste la 1º generación
    - Si eres jugador de Pokemon Go y nunca has jugado a otro Pokemon, es muy accesible

    NEGATIVO:

    - Aunque Pokemon nunca fue difícil, este juego no es la excepción a la regla ni mucho menos
    - El sistema de captura GO (no malo de por si, pero está roto)
    - Solo se puede conseguir a Mew comprando la Pokeball Plus por 50€... :)
    - Demasiado casual en muchos aspectos que podían haber sido mucho mejores

The only mechanic that meshes well from GO, is the way in which you interact with the wild Pokémon and visually see what you are about to run into and have a chance at catching.

    But, this game is way too simplistic. It is way too easy, it revolves around Pokémon GO mechanics and strips away everything that everyone came to love the series over. No EV training, no hold items, no abilities, no daycare breeding, no wild encounter battling, trainer battles garner little XP and can practically be skipped in favour of just catching the same Pokémon over and over again as it will deliver more XP, 90% of the time, the Safari Zone has been replaced with this awful Pokémon GO complex that is useless to players who dropped GO when it died in 2016, and Mew is obtainable if you pay more money than others, and replacing supplements with candies makes it too easy to change the stats of Pokémon in your party.

    + High levels of nostalgia
    + Redesign is excellent
    + Pokémon walk with you again

    However, the problems around the game are an absence of features that have come to be expected in the series. Pokemon do not have abilities. There is no GTS, and the online features are absolutely bare bones. Wild pokemon aren't battled, just caught. On top of this, the balancing of difficulty is completely out of whack, and there isn't any opportunity to customise this (such as switching off xp share in previous titles). Some animations in the game are incredibly lazy, and I'm not referencing the pokemon here as I think it's understandable to not have every pokemon have fluid attacking animations. Some character animations are recycled incoherently into different activities and it looks bad if you notice it. There's also just a straight-up shortage in the variety of pokemon in the game.

    It'd be fair to disregard alot of the negative reviews for this game, as I think the game does some things well and the experience can be enjoyable. But the game is very casual even for a pokemon game, which is perplexing because the pokemon franchise was always comprehendable by young children. A genuine missed opportunity for something more - don't bother if you're looking for post-game/competitive play or a challenge. Good if you want to focus on collecting pokemon.     After finishing the game, I've come to the conclusion that Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee are both fine games but don't do enough to consider them great. However, that isn't saying its bad its just that there really isn't anything crazy or cool in here. Far from the worst game with the pokemon name on it.

I also like what they have done with the Exp sharing, so now I don't have to burn a turn of battle trying to level a weaker Pokemon. I like that they used some advanced mechanics (Pokemon types, moves, etc) from later generation games. While the wild Pokemon mechanic used in this game - you can see them before you encounter them - might lead some to madness, I quite appreciate being able to pick and choose what, when, and where I encounter one.

    However, the fact that this game is solely in Kanto and contains only the original 151 Pokemon from generation 1 is a huge limiting factor in my opinion of this game. In 2018, it is simply unacceptable for a feature-priced game to be limited in such a serious manner. They could've at least, and I do emphasize LEAST, included Johto. I suppose I shouldn't be particularly surprised, however, as several of the classic franchise, Nintendo-exclusive Switch games (Kirby, Mario Party) have been severely lacking depth of content. It's a disturbing trend I've noticed, and there remains no evidence to suggest that might halt or reverse in the future (may the gods have mercy on the Smash review board!). I also find the motion controls frustratingly, severely lacking the ability to pick up the more subtle movements the game seems to force one to make (L/R motion is particularly terrible!). I also find the lack of local multiplayer to be a big downside - sure, no Pokemon game has had it before, but in a game where you use one of a minimum of two Joy-Cons, I don't see why they couldn't fold in a better way to fold in a deeper local multiplayer experience. This issue is even worse when viewed in the context both of several recent open-world RPGs which do a marvelous job of incorporating local, split-screen multiplayer, and when considering that local multiplayer games is one of the biggest assets and marketing items for the Switch. Lastly, I'll just remark that they did, in fact, essentially nerf the game by buffing the starter Pokemon to high heaven; if you want a challenge in this game, you'll have to manufacture it yourself.

    All this said, I still have logged over 20 hours in this game, and I will likely end up well over 100, because, hey, those Pokemon ain't gonna catch themselves!. It's a fun game, just with some glaring flaws that simply shouldn't exist in a game in a franchise that's over 20 years old now. .    … Expand

    Wild pokemon actually appearing and walking around in the world is one of the best changes to game play the series has had in a long time and I hope this aspect actually sticks around.

    Difficulty of the game is mostly fine assuming you ditch your starter early on namely if you went with Eevee. The game's performance is fairly good as well. I've only encountered issues in one area where the frame rate crashed. The changes to the Kanto story we already know are welcomed in mixing it up.

    The secret techniques your starter learns in place of HMs is another good change although this 'change' was basically present in the Sun and Moon games as well via Pokeride. The capture chaining is a nice mechanic as well. This mostly sums up the good points I had with the game.

    Now for the bad points...
    For starters the elephant in the room... the lack of wild battles and the capture system. Whenever I went to capture pokemon after the first two gyms is when the game stopped being fun. The controls regards of how you go (Motion, gyro, stick aim) are all fairly frustrating namely the broken motion controls that very often do what they want to do rather what you want them to do. Couple this issue with the fact that the capture process quickly devolves into throwing a ball and praying that it catches with you having little influence on effecting the outcome aside form throwing a berry (Which honestly doesn't seem to help that much.) Then the added 'challenge' to catching pokemon later on is that they begin erratically hopping around which renders the motion controls worthless and makes the other schemes in undocked mode more frustrating.

    The next point is the visual. Now honestly the game's visual are just okay at best, but that's the problem. The game looks like the Sun and Moon engine from 3DS up scaled to HD. This shouldn't be surprising as I believe it's likely this game was developed in a short amount of time. Hopefully next year will prove different.

    Next we have the post game or rather the lack of. Once you mop up the Elite 4 and finish your pokedex there is little to no reason to keep playing. Master trainers are a thing but while I feel they are a good concept they are very poorly executed. 153 are excessive and them being 1v1 mirror matches doesn't help. It would have been more effective to have just made a master trainer for every pokemon type rather than every pokemon. Beyond these you have gym leader and Elite 4 rematches and a few 'superboss' trainers but little else.

    Now another big point. The striping of a large amount of mechanics. Ignoring the 700 or so pokemon absent there are alot of staple features missing in these games. Firstly abilities and hold items are completely gone removing a layer of strategy and options. Breeding is also gone. Wonder trade is gone, Super training, Pokemon Amie and any of the likes is also gone.

    Now the last point the price point. Now I will say for the pathetic lack of new content the 60$ US price tag is way too much. You can get Yellow on the 3ds eshop right now for 10$ and you basically get 80% of the same content just without the fancy graphics. Firered and Leafgreen were only 30-40$ and managed to outdo these games. Couple that with the 40-50$ pokeball plus (Which holds Mew hostage btw. You can't even transfer Mew from Pokemon GO if you play it) and they're just asking way too much for what is basically a shallow yet pretty rehash of a 20 year old game. Honestly it feels like a lazy half hearted cash grab.

    In closing it's a solid 6/10. It's okay but I find it hard to recommend. If you play Pokemon GO then you'll likely enjoy it alot, if you're someone stuck in Gen 1 with nostalgia glasses you'll likely enjoy it alot as well. For everyone else I'd say skip it unless it drops to 40$ or under (It won't.) we have hopefully fully fleshed and content rich core pokemon games coming next year, so if you got an itch grab an older 3DS game and give it another go or buy the original Yellow on the Eshop for 1/6th the price of this.    … Expand

    Great game. Yeah, it's very easy but I feel like Nintendo is just trying out new mechanics for the next real gen. So for that, it's ok. It actually made fun to play an easy game again, but some things can be improved.

    When I first got this game I was excited because this was going to be the very first actual Pokèmon game besides the spin-offs. But I should have never put my expectations that high. I will give it the benefit of the doubt and say that the graphics look nice and seeing the first generation Pokèmon is really nice and the environment is nice and polished but they could have done better. It was nice to see nice graphics on a better console compared to the 3DS XL.
    The controls on the game are very odd and throwing the Pokeball is a problem. These controls are new and very different from the originals. My biggest problems with this game are how the took out the most important concept of Pokèmon and replaced it with something way different and bad. In all the other pokemon games to catch a Pokèmon, you had to low the Pokèmon health but there were risks to this but that was the fun part of the game. But in Pokèmon Lets Go Pikachu they threw all that out the window and replaced it with something way worse. From the inspiration of the most popular game, Pokèmon go and used the throwing the Pokèball at the pokemon and using berries. But actually aiming the Pokèball and throwing it is very inconsistent. It takes way to much effort trying to throw the pokèball left or right and this got very annoying. And sometimes I have this problem where I throw the Pokèball and it would go nowhere near where I threw it.
    The difficulty in this game is so easy I and it had zero challenges. I finished this game with ease and it wasn't satisfying at all. At some degree, I feel like I wasted my time. I had no trouble whatsoever in any part of the game and I never used a potion or a revive throughout my playthrough. I never died once and catching pokemon was so easy. I beat the elite four with only two pokemon. I didn't even use my other pokemon ever. There was no challenge to beat a trainer or even a gym leader because I would one hit kill every pokemon even when our levels were not that far apart. This game was made for very little kids so making the game super easy is understandable. But kids are not dumb! Kids need challenges and they need to strategize and think ahead instead of not just press one simple button to kill a Pokèmon. In the original Pokèmon yellow there wasn't any mega evolutions or alolan forms so this makes the game even easier. And what I think the worst part was how your rival isn't even your rival like in the original games. For example, Blue was a very challenging opponent and it was nice to beat your rival every time. But now they replaced Blue for is named Trace. He was very friendly and the opposite of a rival but he still was one. He would reward you with items and it was not satisfying at all to beat him.
    Some of the great things Pokèmon Lets Go Pikachu has is the customization on your character and Pikachu. I had fun dressing my Pokèmon and me as team rocket and I loved putting funny little sunglasses on Pikachu and giving Pikachu a little afro. I also like the mega evolutions and alolan forms because this brought more fun to the game. One of my favorite parts in traveling with your pokemon. I enjoyed riding my Dragonite and flying through the air. It was fun to ride my Snorlax for the first time and my Onix.
    In conclusion, I would rate this game a 3.5 because it was nice and short and some parts were unsatisfying. The controls were weird and the new way to catch Pokèmon was so boring and sad. For Game Freak to make this game so easy was a horrible idea. Kids are not this dumb for you to take out everything difficult about the games. There is no satisfaction and I was very disappointed after finishing this game. I think this game should be priced cheaper and not full price $60 a triple-A game.     Story - Come on lets be real guys, when has GameFreak really cared about the story of any mainstream Pokémon game. Its bland and the same as ever. You don't get a starter Pokémon as your first team member, instead you get Pikachu or Eevee depending on what game you bought. Together you will travel around the Kanto region on your quest to become the Pokémon Master and maybe defeat Team Rocket along the way. Same premise as any other Pokémon game.

    Graphics/Animation - Graphically the game looks visually uninteresting. This game could honestly fit on the 3DS if Nintendo ever made the decision to port this. Kanto is so boring. Aside from the towns you visit, your going through the grassy plains and caves every corner you turn. You do get Pokémon roaming around the world which gives the area some sort of life, a detail I appreciate. But humans just stand there waiting for you to battle them or talk to them. I want to see them do something other than stand their.

    You know I remember a time when Game Freak would redesign a Pokémon's sprite for their next game. Pokémon Lets Go Pikachu/Eevee have been using the EXACT SAME MODELS since X and Y. That game is now 6 years old and yet we still have Pokémon using the same battle animations and poses again.

    Battles never really feel climatic even when fighting against the Elite 4. Your Pokémon just stand there and wait for an attack to happen, whilst nothing interesting goes on in the background. I remember entering one of gyms one time and noticed that there were other trainers watching you in the background as you progressed to the gym leader. But wouldn't it be cool when you were in battle if maybe they were cheering you on. Or something flashy happened in the background of those fights. Welp that never happens, so sorry.

    Music - By far the best thing I love about this game, I still want to get the soundtrack of this game. I love the theme of when you battle another trainer or gym leader, its the only thing that makes the battles somewhat interesting. Pokémon never disappoints in the music department

    Being A Trainer - There aren't any wild battles now in lets go. Whenever you encounter a Pokémon, you immediately begin to try and catch that Pokémon. Using your joycon, you grab a pokeball and throw it at the pokemon in an attempt to capture it. Now this does make me feel like an actual trainer, but the motion controls half the time can be uncooperative. I would some times miss loads of throws when I knew for a fact that I threw the ball in the direction I was aiming for.

    My biggest problem with catching Pokémon in the wild is that they are the only way you can level up your Pokémon. In previous games you would fight a Pokémon in the wild and gain experience points whenever defeating one. If you were low on health or ran out of moves, you would go back to the Poke Centre and heal your Pokémon FOR FREE. You have to have money to buy pokeballs and considering they are the only way you can level your pokemon up aside from rare candies and trainer battles, this means I can't spend money on things I actually want to buy like TMs.

    Overall Lets Go Pikachu is definitely a one and done game for me and it hasn't really convinced me to preorder Sword or Shield. Like I said, not a bad game, but definitely one I don't want to revisit.    … Expand

    Gameplay:
    Capturing-As frustrating as Go. The chain mechanic was a good idea. But Pokemon run away randomly, breaking your chain. Sometimes they jump around just to be nuisances. Motion controls work alright, you can use the stick in handheld.
    Wild encounters-Every battle is like the Safari Zone. You can throw berries as bait for different effects and then pelt it with Pokeballs. Your own pokemon don't help, which made battles feel lonely and repetitive. The pokemon in the game are only from Gen 1, so there's not much variety either. Ironically seeing Pidgey and Rattata everywhere was a big complaint when Go first released. Even FRLG had ways of capturing later gen pokemon (Sevii islands sadly do not return). Likewise, seeing Pokemon walk around the fields made the world lively.
    Walking/Riding Pokemon: A beloved feature. However it was disappointing that you can ride so few of the available Pokemon. But it's one of the few reasons to play this game.
    Portable PC-Actually kinda useful, since I like to swap my team around. However it doesn't have a lot of freedom to organize since it assumes you only ever use your main team. They tried to make it look identical to Go.
    Refresh-Makes a return, but sadly, only for your special partner Pokemon that you start the game with. Most you can do with the other Pokemon is talk with the Pokemon following you or that you're riding on.
    Battles-I'm no competitive player, but they removed way to many features, like held items, abilities, and EVs. Now you can OP your Pokemon with candies. Your starter is overpowered to a silly degree, but it cannot ever evolve.
    Go-I don't play the mobile game because I live in the country. However, in trying the features, they're horrible. The switch struggles to connect to your phone. I really had to fight with it. Once you bring a pokemon over, it can't ever go back to the mobile game. They also locked a legendary behind it, in the most arbitrary way possible.
    Pokeball-It's a neat little device. There are short cut commands you can find online to help with gameplay fluidity. But it works as they described.
    Controls: In docked mode, you must use motion controls, but in handheld mode you can play with the stick, motion controls or gyroscope. The motion controls are responsive and I had no problems with them.

    Over all, it's a very mediocre and somewhat disappointing entry to the mainline pokemon series. Let's Go takes so few risks that it ended up removing features it feared its casual players would struggle with instead of encouraging players to learn the mechanics. It gives the impression of cash grabbing from nostalgic adults and Go fanatics. There's no point of buying it for the mechanics as the mobile game is F2P, and the nostalgia can be revisited through FRLG, a remake that has more content and challenges by comparison to Let's Go. Even Let Go's graphics aren't enough of an enticement, as the models and textures are unimpressive to look at and the game's performance is laggy.
    GF really failed to impress this time, which seems to be a running problem for them ever since XY. And Sword and Shield isn't turning many heads as it looks far too similar to an upscaled USUM. Pokemon games are becoming repetitive and lackluster.
    Should you buy?: It's not a game I would recommend or say stay away from. It just exists. Try it if you like what you hear, avoid it if you don't. You aren't missing much by skipping it, and Sword/Shield release later this year so you won't be starved for Pokemon games. Kids may find it an enjoyable experience, but experienced Pokemon fans would probably get very little enjoyment out of it.    … Expand

    Positivo: Os Pokémon clássicos, sensação nostálgica de estar jogando um game de GBA em HD. Tempo de jogo.

    Pontos negativos: Músicas enjoativa e repetitiva. Do inicio do game até o meio é muito mais do mesmo. Mudança em upar os Pokémon que não gostei. Preferia o modelo antigo.

    Había mucho hype por el primer Pokemon en la switch y pantalla grande y cuando anunciaron este decepcionó bastante pero claro, a estas alturas todos sabemos cómo resultó ser el primer juego principal de Pokemon en    Los controles mataron este juego para mí.     A game that was somehow more enjoyable than the mainline game Sword and Shield. You were actually able to move in this game without getting interrupted every 5 steps (looking at you sword and shield)

    The game is great for what it aims to achieve. However I was personally not a huge fan of the catching mechanic, compared to the traditional formula. This entry in the series feels significantly easier than most, making it way shorter than most main line entries prior to this.

    It's nice to be a 2D game, and for pokemon go fans and those who have never played the first generation it's very enjoyable, for more niche fans it's just another game, since it's still a remaster and it's lost the most important essence of pokemon, the fighting, due to its absence and its low difficulty. It's acceptable, but it won't go down in history.

    Extra Notes: My first game on the switch so obvious bias. The game was way to easy, but I liked it as my first Pokemon Game and finishing the main story line faster gave me time to complete the dex or other things.

    Nostalgic and bright. One of the better pokemon releases on the Nintendo Switch. Lacks heart and feels a little empty at times but overall a fun time.

    Is the game fun? Yes, but it's also too simplistic. The world just feel empty, and it's banking completely on nostalgia. Rather than playing as Red and having your rival be Blue, they're both characters that appear elsewhere in the story. However it's still the same exact story as the Gen 1 games, but with the player character and the rival Trace (who is nowhere near as cool as Blue)Is the game fun? Yes, but it's also too simplistic. The world just feel empty, and it's banking completely on nostalgia. Rather than playing as Red and having your rival be Blue, they're both characters that appear elsewhere in the story. However it's still the same exact story as the Gen 1 games, but with the player character and the rival Trace (who is nowhere near as cool as Blue) taking the places of Red & Blue in the story. They could've at least come up with a new story, instead of rehashing the same story for the third time.

    There are some good features however such as the Pokemon roaming the overworld map, so instead of random encounters you can seek out specific Pokemon, and not having to go to the Pokemon Center to swap out party members.

    However even though you can have some amount of fun in these games, at the end of the day they're shallow.    … Expand

    A simple, nostalgic return to the Kanto region, offers little if you are a series veteran eager for complexity and challenge. But if that's not your main interest, Pokemon Let's Go has it all! It's a simple, cute and fun game that will keep you hooked for hours. An excellent starting point for newcomers, and a great nostalgia trip for those in a search for one.
