    First I would like to state I don't normally write reviews on a product but I felt this product had too many reviews that were uninformative. Second I would like to state if you did not play this video game you should not review it. Third this is not a main Pokemon generation game. Pokemon have many side games and remakes this is just one of them.

    Now to the review- I started out with the mindset that this game would be bad. I love Pokemon and so I tried the new game and it took me by surprise. I love what they did with the game, the world feels alive. You walk to an area and Pokemon are walking and flying around just like you would imagine in a real Pokemon world. I can now choose who I would like to catch. They use the Pokemon go system when catching Pokemon and you can use different balls and bait to make it easier to catch. You can get rare Pokemon to come out with lures and with increased catch combo. You get XP for catching Pokemon based on the catch and size. Pokemon battles are the same as all games you give people the stare and they walk up to you and battle. The game has tons of Pokemon trainer battles and not all of them are easy. I found myself preparing and changing my Pokemon out to counter what types of Pokemon the other trainer had. I find that in most gen Pokemon games I don't even have to counter as long as my Pokemon are high level I just wipe the floor with them so this provided a bit more of a challenge. You also don't have to walk to a PC anymore you can switch Pokemon anytime in your inventory which I like. I also felt that we had more interactions with our Pokemon since they didn't have to stay in a ball the whole time. I liked playing with my eevee and dressing them up.

    This game isn't perfect though by any means but no game is. I had issues with the catching controls at times. I preferred just playing it with the controllers attached rather then using them separate from the switch since it was easier to control. The story is a bit lacking but it is a remake of the first game which didn't have much of a story anyways. I would have liked to see some other gen Pokemon but they do have the Alola remakes of the first gen which is pretty cool. Also like most Pokemon games all the NPCs look the same. Also I think that we should have been allowed to take eevee or pikachu out of party if we wanted. I think the price is a little high for the game and I would recommend if you have trouble with finances to maybe buy it when the price goes down.

    Overall though I was able to immerse myself in this Pokemon world. If you are someone who hates the Pokemon go mechanics or someone who has to have that battle sequence during the capturing then this game is not for you and it was never marketed towards you. If you love Pokemon and love the Kanto region then give this game a try you might enjoy it.    … Expand

    La primera vez que anunciaron el juego lo primero que pensé es que la saga tal y como la conocía había muerto, el éxito de pokemon go habia terminado por enterrar lo poco que quedaba en la saga que podria atraerme. Me equivocaba.
    Estos juegos son un spin off de la saga principal a la verz que un remake de pokemon amarillo con mucho potencial.
    El nuevo sistema de capturas tan criticado por muchos si bien no es perfecto, resulta un soplo de aire fresco para jugadores que como yo, ya estaban cansados de tener que enfrentarse a centenares de zubat cada vez que atravesaban una cueva. Ahora puedes elegir si enfrentarte a un pokemon o no, y no es necesario pasarse las horas en la hierba alta huyendo de combates para encontrar el pokemon que buscas. Aún así, no le veo mucho sentido a tener que capturar cientos de rattatas para que tu equipo suba de nivel, hubiera sido genial poder elegir si combatir o no.
    A nivel de historia es pokemon amarillo excepto porque no lo es. El desarrollo es practicamente el mismo que en el original aunque con algunos cambios. Lo más notable el cambio de protagonistas, esto para mí es un gran error. Todavía no ha existido ningun rival a la altura de Azul (Blue, Gary...el nieto de Oak), realmente a todos nos encantaba odiar a ese pequeño bastardo que siempre iba un paso por delante. Ahora tenemos a un compañero graciosete sin demasiado carisma y de nuevo excesivamente amistoso.
    Una de las cosas que más agradezco es la desaparición definitiva de las MO, esta vez de una forma para mi gusto más elegante que la empleada en sol y luna, el lugar de andar alquilando monturas, será nuestro compañero (Eevee) quien las realice, sin renunciar a ningun ataque por ello.
    Quizá para mi el mayor punto en contra es la conexión con pokemon go, no aporta nada más allá de servir para romper la máquina llenando tus bolsillos con decenas de legendarios y ponkemon shiny, haciendolos menos valiosos.

    Excelente. Este juego es una maravilla, no por ser pokemon, mas bien por ser un gran titulo que da lo mejor de si y de los desarrolladores implementando nuevas mecánicas para que los usuarios vean toda una nueva forma de jugar y capturar pokemones. una maravilla sin duda, toma tu gran 10, sin duda bien ganado.

I was a great decision. Its the perfect way to mix the traditional games with other line (like could be Pokémon Mistery Dungeon, etc.).     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I prefer the classical method of capturing pokemon but i understand that this is entry level game for people who never played pokemon before (btw you get used to it and that is a ton of trainers to battle) and i know that a classic pokemon (the next on the core series) is coming next year for the veterans, plus if you take out the capturing method this is a great experience to revive Pokemon yellow, red ,green and blue, i feel 12 again.… Expand

    It's a good game but the catching method really sucks. Considering catching is really important having it being really hard to do sucks. But otherwise it's a really good game!

    People complain that this game is too childish, but fail to realize that this game is aimed towards a much younger demographic than the main series, much like how Pokemon Conquest and the Mystery Dungeon series are aimed to a more mature audience than the main series. I bought this knowing what it's targeted demographic was, and I find it enjoyable.     For a Long time Pokemon fan, this game is pretty easy, however aside from that the game is great and easy to pick up on. I've been a pokemon fan from the beginning, and yeah I don't like some aspects like lack of wild battles ( there are some but not enough), no Hold items and abilities. IT's understandable they don't have breeding as You are LIMITED to only the 1st 151 pokemon + MeltanFor a Long time Pokemon fan, this game is pretty easy, however aside from that the game is great and easy to pick up on.     Honestly, though this game does a few things right. It makes a situation that old time Pokemon Fans and Pokemon go Players can just jump right in. It also brings in the ability to re-battle gym leaders and omg it brings in Green. Honestly petting Eevee in this game felt like another pokemon amie session. Not saying that's bad, as eevee is adorable in this game. What this game lacks in some features is offset by the careful craftsmanship and attention to detail in this game. Yes, it's a Yellow remake and a faithful one of that. You didn't have a bunch of other pokemon clouding you in you didn't have abilities to worry about. You just play the game.
    I didn't like the rival, but it was fun picking on the guy. It felt like a role reversal. He felt like Hau. I personally named him after some of my friends just so I can pick on them saying I'm beating them. As he was just too much of a friend and not enough of Blue or Silver. Speaking of Blue you do run into him and battle him which is great, and honestly, his attitude isn't really changed. he still the same smug ****
    I would recommend and have recommended this game to anyone that I believe would have an interest in it. It's a charming game, and a great entry point for new pokemon fans.    … Expand

    I have no idea why so many so-called fanboys are calling this game too easy, shallow, childish etc. This is a REMAKE of the originals with gorgeous graphics, and tweaked mechanics for wild pokemon encounters. Everything else feels very similar to the original games, and I am enjoying every minute of reliving a part of my childhood. Pokemon is not a game marketed targeting adults, and someI have no idea why so many so-called fanboys are calling this game too easy, shallow, childish etc. This is a REMAKE of the originals with gorgeous graphics, and tweaked mechanics for wild pokemon encounters. Everything else feels very similar to the original games, and I am enjoying every minute of reliving a part of my childhood.     I'm gonna dock a point for the simple fact that Mew is only available if you buy the Poké Ball Plus, which I did for Dex completion.     Pokemon Let's GO Eevee is a very enjoyable game on its own merit, I did not care for Pokemon GO itself, but this game has given me a reason to at least mess with it some. The game has a nice visual style to it, and the redone music is a perfect fit. Catch mechanics are just like Pokemon GO, and for wild battles, I am honestly ok with it, it takes out a ton of tedious grinding out, andPokemon Let's GO Eevee is a very enjoyable game on its own merit, I did not care for Pokemon GO itself, but this game has given me a reason to at least mess with it some. The game has a nice visual style to it, and the redone music is a perfect fit. Catch mechanics are just like Pokemon GO, and for wild battles, I am honestly ok with it, it takes out a ton of tedious grinding out, and lets me focus on the trainer/legendary battles. Many of the advanced features for competitive play have been removed, but for a game that is meant to draw in a new group of people that makes sense. In the end I would have liked to see the Sevii Islands from Fire/Leaf, but since that was used to let players get newer Pokemon it would not have made much sense to add them in without overhauling them greatly.

    Pokemon Let's GO gets a 8/10 from me, fun, enjoyable, and Eevee is cute as hell.    … Expand

    I stopped playing Pokemon after Ruby and Saphire were released. I found that they were great games. However I was overwhelmed by the increcing amount of Pokemon. I’ve always felt like I was missing out on a huge franchise, but couldn’t bring myself to jump back in. This game is exactly what I needed and wanted. The original 151 Pokemon and Kanto beautifuly realised in a gorgeous 3D world.I stopped playing Pokemon after Ruby and Saphire were released. I found that they were great games. However I was overwhelmed by the increcing amount of Pokemon. I’ve always felt like I was missing out on a huge franchise, but couldn’t bring myself to jump back in. This game is exactly what I needed and wanted. The original 151 Pokemon and Kanto beautifuly realised in a gorgeous 3D world. It also introduces newer things such as mega evolutions and Alolan forms. Things I had no idea about. I’ve enjoyed this game so much that it’s got me interested in 2019s Pokemon. Although this is a reimagining of Yellow. There’s plenty of new story beats and interesting things that make it well worth playing. Thanks Game Freak.… Expand

They didn't feel like Pokemon anymore. I didn't feel like I was playing a Pokemon game, instead I was just playing a numbers game where you could replace the Pokemon with static stick men and nothing would change.

    This game was a refreshing change in that it removed most of the numbers and made the focus on catching Pokemon (You know, gotta catch 'em all, and all that?). I felt like a kid again, I felt like I just wanted to catch them all just because I could, and not just because I felt I needed a specific stick man for breeding to get some specific skill for another stick man.

    The game however was a bit too easy, but it didn't really bother me because I was having fun, honest to god fun. Something I hadn't experienced in ANY game for a long long while. Just good old fun with no calculating optimal stick figure builds or the weight of the world weighing down on my shoulders. I was on a journey with Pokemon, and that's all there was to it.

    However as much I liked this nice little break between Pokemon games I still feel the next game should be a more traditional game. This game, even though I did enjoy it as a nice break, should indeed stay as just a break from the usual formula. There's just something about building the perfect stick man. Something other games can't really nail down.    … Expand

While everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion, to say this game is a 0 or 1 is absurd. I do have my complaints with the game, but I found a lot of the deviations from the norm refreshing.

    First, I'll address the issue that the game is too easy. Yes, the game can be relatively easy, but like other installments, it is only as easy as you decide to make it on yourself. I ditched my starter at the earliest opportunity and completely disregarded the component of interacting with it. Eevee certainly was uncharacteristically strong. In addition to not using Eevee in battles, I maintained a large roster of Pokemon that I switched out frequently. Because XP was easier to come by, I was able to keep more Pokemon leveled for battle than I have in any previous games without grinding. In past games, I have been somewhat limited to 6-8 Pokemon, and often had to grind XP by battling wild Pokemon in order to keep them at the appropriate level. This time, I ended up with a roster of 16 or so Pokemon over level 50 by the time I reached the Elite Four. In the past, I've always felt I had to choose between abandoning the use of certain Pokemon or spending hours grinding to maintain their levels. If you're a fan of maintaining a large roster, I think you'll really enjoy this aspect, like I did. By having a large pool of Pokemon to choose from, I was able to customize the challenge i faced in battles. Against Blaine, I could choose to take Blastoise, Seadra, Sandslash, and Rhyhorn, or for more of a challenge I could take Vileplume, Venomoth, Venusaur, and Dewgong. Or any combination of these and my other numerous Pokemon to suit my taste.

    Next, let's talk about changes in mechanics. Lots of people have complained about many of the changes, so I'll start with what I like. The fact that random wild encounters are virtually eliminated is big improvement in my mind. Sometimes wild Pokemon will dart at you, but for the most part, you can choose whether to encounter them or not. This eliminated the sense of dread I've felt in the past from wandering around areas with wild Pokemon by having to constantly run away from the millionth Rattata or exhaust my PP Thunderbolting the millionth Zubat. I will say that it would have been nice if you had the option to either battle or try to capture wild Pokemon. It would be easy to implement and people could take it as they liked it. Players have been clamoring to take their Pokemon out of Pokeballs and ride them since I can remember, and they finally gave it to us. This is just one of the many ways that they made this game feel immersive. Lastly, the built-in Pokemon rater was a nice change. It removed the need to use a calculator to determine IVs or unknowingly draft a low quality Pokemon on to your team.

    And now for my criticisms. The severe shortage of double battles feels odd, particularly since they are in the game, but only a handful. It seems like they wasted their time building in this mechanic only to barely use it at all. The only removed mechanic I found myself missing was abilities. I think they were a huge improvement when they were introduced. I realize they wanted to make the game more accessible, but I don't think that would have been hampered too much by the inclusion of abilities. Perhaps they could have made them visible by announcing them. Haunter is levitating, ground attacks will be useless, or Raichu is absorbing electricity, electric attacks will only make it stronger. Something like that seems preferable to removing them altogether. Lastly, I have no desire to pet or play with Eevee. I appreciated the fact that the game didn't try to force me to do this, but I guess it's there for people who wanted to do it. This was, at worst, a minor annoyance that I easily disregarded. Although I didn't battle with Eevee or level it, I have seen the names of its moves online, and I have to agree that they are ridiculous and overly silly. I guess they just planned to include them for this game and didn't want to use any names that could be reused for an attack later, but it still seems like they could have erred on the side of not silly.

    Despite its flaws, I found myself continually wanting to pick this up and play it. There is a certain je ne sais quoi that kept me coming back. I really liked many of the improvements and hope they implement some of the changes in future installments. Hopefully, Game Freak takes this as a learning experience and keeps the good and eliminates the bad. All in all, I am glad I played it. It was a lot of fun, and in many ways the Pokemon experience I've been craving since I was 10.    … Expand

    I mean, unpopular opinion here. But I like the new mechanics in Let's Go, mainly cause of the fact random encounters made me want to shoot myself. I like how now you do not have to fight other Pokemon for your Pokemon to level up which i think is a big plus. At the start of every gym they won't allow you in until you have one Pokemon who is above a certain level and counters the type theI mean, unpopular opinion here. But I like the new mechanics in Let's Go, mainly cause of the fact random encounters made me want to shoot myself. I like how now you do not have to fight other Pokemon for your Pokemon to level up which i think is a big plus. At the start of every gym they won't allow you in until you have one Pokemon who is above a certain level and counters the type the gym is which i think is severally helpful. Also I think it is really cute when the game pushes you to make an emotional connection with Eevee and I never switched him off.     Been playing for a while and think this is a pretty good take on Pokemon. You have trainer battles everywhere so if you want to fight stuff there are that in spades. There are also tons of battles you need to do just to progress through the game.
    Beside that you catch Pokemons by throwing Pokemon balls at them and this actually mix up the gameplay in a good way. Beside that the hd visuals    Been playing for a while and think this is a pretty good take on Pokemon. You have trainer battles everywhere so if you want to fight stuff there are that in spades. There are also tons of battles you need to do just to progress through the game.
    Beside that you catch Pokemons by throwing Pokemon balls at them and this actually mix up the gameplay in a good way. Beside that the hd visuals is really well made.

This game was created to bring in new players so of course it is going to be easier (just like X and Y). This IS NOT a core game. You dont HAVE to buy the £40 controller and you don't HAVE to play with Pokemon Go, these things are optional at the end of the day. Speaking as someone who hasn't played a Pokemon game since "Yellow" was brand new, it is a great way of re-introducing myself to the franchise. And, just as importantly, it will be a great way for me to introduce my niece to the franchise in a couple years.

    I did enjoy the motion control for the ball throwing despite some occasional gyro misalignment glitches here and there. Despite my personal thoughts on how to improve the catching mechanics (such as a "Perfect Throw" ring when it's really small), everything works well and actually fits the game nicely.

    The Safari Zone being reduced to nothing more than a "Pokemon Go" interface did hurt and I do miss the threat of a wild battle happening at any random time when exploring, but the game as a whole is still an enjoyable time killer. The only real legitimate complaint I have is the $50 pay-wall for Mew which will likely prevent me from getting 100% PokeDex because I'm not buying an expensive peripheral for one game. Made that mistake for "Guitar Hero".

    It has some nice complexity with the IV system for the late gameplay if you want to pursue those areas.

    I wouldn't mind seeing them do the other generations (2-current) so I could give them a try without having to invest in the older consoles/games.

    If you played the older games (Red/Blue/Yellow) then, chances are, you'll enjoy this game too.
    If you're new to the franchise, it's a good way to dip your toes in without feeling overwhelmed while also offering the chance to further explore some of the earlier complexities.
    If you're a parent looking to buy a game to keep your kids distracted, this will work fine.

I didn't think i would be a fan of the new encounter system but i like not getting caught up with a zubat every few steps. I also enjoy the new way of catching the Pokemon - but wish they had kept the battle pre-catch going. It's weird having to grind by catching instead of battling. The game does seem easier - but i tried countering this by never feeding my Pokemon candy. I am 32 now so this was chocked with sentimental value. I came back to the series with pokemon go and have played halfway through let's go. I love complex games with a lot of depth. Yes, this scaled down, only because it's a remake of a basic game, but it keeps me interested and I haven't gotten bored.

    These "hardcore fans" leaving biased reviews is ridiculous.

    This is a fancy remake of Pokemon yellow. If that's not your cup of tea, stop here and don't play it. Of course this remake has some extra features that emphasizes catching pokemon in a "Gotta catch 'em all" game. I welcome it.

    The catching mechanic is basically the only thing brought over from pokemon GO and it is a welcome change to grinding out battling and catching wild pokemon in other versions. The catching mechanic makes grinding more enjoyable. I am able to level up my pokemon as well as look for the pokemon with stats and natures to actually build up a strong party. To what end? Personal fulfillment and online battles. I haven't battled online so I am unsure what that is exactly like, I just know there is no global ranking.

    From what I have seen in the game so far, your items like calcium, hp up, pp up, iron, etc have all been replace by different candies obtained from catching pokemon and transferring to professor oak. This replaces grinding to collect money to buy those items with grinding to catch pokemon.

    Due to the catching mechanic and the desire to build a great team and just find shiny and strong pokemon, i often find myself distracted from the main story to catch pokemon in a random spot.

    Pokemon appearing in the overworld is awesome.

    Yes, I do miss hold items and breeding, but there are still natures and an abundance of pokeballs. The mechanics of leveling pokemon as you look for your specific natures and IV's replaces the need for breeding. It's wonderful multitasking.

    I haven't finished the game so I only the post game content involves the master trainers which would have you level up each species to battle and claim the title of master trainer for that species. But it doesn't sound lacking. I hear people still say crystal's battle tower is still the best post game content.

    I do wish the region was larger, but it's a remake of yellow so what more can you expect? As much as I wish for a bigger region, online matchmaking (still not sure how online battles work), hold items, etc. This is a wonderful remake of pokemon yellow with new features that I hope make it into the 2019 gen. Pokemon Let's go is a testing ground to refresh the pokemon series. Nintendo chose a solid platform to test new mechanics. I call it a successful test.    … Expand

    Some cons: having only the original 151 plus 2 more is a bit disappointing, however if generation 8 looks anything like this, then I won’t have this problem. I wish there was more to do in the post game, especially since I payed $60 for it instead of the usual $40. Sure the master trainers are cool but grinding to face them was a chore. I just did 6 so I could face red. Because it was a remake of yellow and not leaf green or fire red, I do miss the Orange Island plotline we got. Post game, dragonite, charizard and Aryodactal can be riden in the sky and can fly over obsivcals. This makes the game must faster, however, you need to get off to interact with anything including going into houses and going across routes with a gate. This means you need to open your menu, select return to poke ball, land, go to where you need to go, open your menu back up and select follow just to move around quicker.

    Surprises: not being able to evolve your starter never bothered me because of how strong they actually are. I boxed my eevee pretty early on and took him back out for some post game and he was still kicking ass. I thought I would hate the wild catching system but I actually kind of love it. Sure the motion controls are not great but this style of Pokémon was decent. Seeing the Pokémon in the overworld felt nice and gave more personality to the world you’re traveling in. I thought I would hate the rival but I didn’t. And I didn’t miss held items and abilities as much as I thought I would.

    Biggest complaint would be the Pokéball plus being the only method to catch mew. I’m not spending $50 just for mew    … Expand

    I have played every generation of these games and I was skeptical about Let's Go at first, but I have loved it! I have spent hours shiny hunting and completing my pokedex. If people discount this game just because it's a temporary departure from the time tested formula of the mainline games, they are cheating themselves of a great, novel experience.     This game is fantastic! I am really loving the game, the graphics, the same feel of all the Pokemon games such as Pokemon XY, Alpha Sapphire but much more! I never got to play Pokemon Yellow, but after speaking with several of my friends they see the similaraties and definite improvements. This game makes playing and catching in the Kanto region very exciting! I give this game a 10!

    The game certainly isn't what most fans are used to, and if you're not from the Gen 1 days, it'll take a bit of getting used to. However, even with its flaws, it certainly proves to be an exciting and fun experience.

    THE GOOD
    - The graphics are absolutely incredible, and the best the series has to offer thus far. The are still a few cheap moves with shadowing on certain pokemon (Cloyster), but it is minimal compared to the achievements.
    - Linearity is almost nonexistent, with the region opening up rather quickly, offering a great deal of freedom for players. Half of the gyms can even be battled out of order, a first since Gold & Silver.
    - Much of the hand holding that existed in Sun and Moon is absent in Let's GO. Much like the original Red & Blue, you'll have to learn as you go if you're new to the series. However, the game is simple enough for newcomers to grasp its mechanics rather without much strain.
    - (SPOILERS AHEAD) Gym Leader rematches have finally returned! In addition, such rematches offer easter eggs leading into the lore of Gold & Silver, including Blue becoming the gym leader of Viridian City after Giovanni's departure.
    - The story, while mostly the same as Yellow, offers a few new treats that is sure to please older fans.

    THE BAD
    - The capturing system is rather flawed, and can easily become annoying. Its inconsistency can to it rewarding terrible throws and punishing good ones.
    - The online system is 'friends only' making general battling almost impossible. This can prove troublesome for competitive players and those who just want good clean fun without hassle.

    THE NEUTRAL
    - The game's difficulty, while relative features are optional, can still prove abysmal for most players. Through careful planning does one ensure a truly challenging experience. However, for a nice fun game, not much needs to be done.

    Overall, while Let's GO isn't something most fa will be scrambling for in the future, it definitely made for a wonderful experience even if only for the next 12 months. But hey, if you truly are on the fence about the game, there's always the 2019 title. :)    … Expand

The changes they made to the game are truly welcomed, and improve the game overall. It's "main quest" is not grindy, and can be beaten with little to no extra "training" along the way. He said that the same people who used to bully others for liking it, are now fans. He didnt like that pokemon was becoming accessible to everyone. The bad reviews arent because of a bad game, it's because old school pokemon players feel threatened by this wave of popularity and newcomers into a franchise that they feel was only made for them, not everyone else.

    As a pokemon fan who played the originals, fell off, and is now returing, I welcome these changes and the wave of popularity. Pokemon is meant to be enjoyed by everyone, not enjoyed by a few "elite" players.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. this game is a creations from the ball throwing and Pokemon finding of Pokemon go. the region design of Pokemon red,blue,green,yellow,fire-red and leaf-green. as well as the spice of the being on the switch with the new and improved graphics, it also gives some trainers a new design and gives us some trainer of which we have seen in earlier games make cameo appearances

    Game-play

    think Pokemon go with a either a left or right joy-con instead of using your finger on a phone to throw a poke-ball. It is quite nice to see them shake up legendary battles with having to beat them in a normal battle within 5 minutes and then try to catch them. this adds a little bit of ideas into battling while also making true to the old ways of trying to catch them in a battles. it was also nice to see Pokemon follow you again which we last saw in gen 2 remakes on the DS

    Story
    think a reboot story of Pokemon yellow but with new modern flares. such as old characters from different generations. an example of this is Archer from generation 2 who you battle quite a few times. you travel through the kanto region trying to get all 8 badges and stop team rockets evil plans. it gives a bit of spice into the old story since we no longer have HMs so the partner Pokemon can learn them and it doesn't take up move slots.

    The only downside of the game is that it doesn't have any Pokemon past mew. it then succeeding in redeeming this via the 2 new Pokemon meltan and melmetal and alolan forms. this saves some Pokemon from uselessness as well as adding the only few dark types in the game (alolan meowth line,alolan grimer line, and the alolan rattata line). the only re problem with the game is no GTS and not Random battles on the online service

    Overall

    People who are a fan of the fun and adventurers of past Pokemon games will definitely find enjoyment in this title. Pokemon lets go allows fans to go back to the roots of the franchise with a fun new installment that any fan will fall in love with. I can easily recommend this game to longtime fans as well as new fans. If you don't have a switch yet here's a perfect title to start with

Yes it's true that there are features missing that the original main series games have, but let me say this: This. Is. Not. A. Main. Series. Game. At all.
    This is the in-between spinoff filler game that we get while we wait for gen 8. This is an entry-level game designed specifically for parents/kids/genwunners that started or got back into the franchise with Go.

    It literally isn't designed for longtime fans, but it has the nostalgia kick that will still bring them in. Not only that, but the features it lacks from the original, it more than makes up for with all the new features it adds.
    And there are a lot, with most being what people have been requesting for a while! (following pokemon, overworld flying, buddy pokemon, overworld encounters, it goes on).
    Not to mention, the features it lacks from the original make sense for what it is (a which is, a Go combo game). Personally, I love when Pokemon steps away from its usual, redundant formula. This game is like a vacation to me.
    The fact that I can skirt around an encounter is fantastic, and this is the best game I've played for shiny hunting so far hands down. I love having Pokemon following me again and hell I even like the Pokeball controller. To me, its reminiscent of the HG/SS days.
    Its an easy game, because again, its entry level and wasn't meant for you. Its obviously designed to be super casual, NON-COMPETITIVE, and with young kids in mind. I would still even love to see some of the features return for a main series. It just blows my mind how veterans are having such bad reactions, because honestly, what did you expect?

    Is it a cash grab? Absolutely! Thats Pokemon's entire marketing scheme. Does it work? Absolutely! The sales on the games are doing extremely well. Why is that necessarily a bad thing?

    The game isn't perfect, and lots of thing are missing in the game (All the mechanics of IV EV, the talents ...). La jugabilidad, es maravillosa, el tema de las monturas, excelente, lo único le le noté un meh, fue lo de no pelear con pokémon salvajes, pero, de algún modo, lo supieron camuflar muy bien en el juego, y que se transformara en una experiencia complementaria del juego, así que no afecta en nada...

I researched and saw that it would be a parallel line of games and I loved that idea. It will have the traditional line and this parallel. I was thrilled when my world expanded at the end of the Elite Four. Seriously, I was happy when I saw myself flying high in the sky, crossing the map at will on the back of my Charizard. Seeing everything from above was indescribable and the challenge of the Masters, very challenging. I thought to pass them and luckily, I bought pokéball plus. I was able to challenge Mew's master. I finished Let's Go Eevee, I bought Let's Go Pikachu. I'm in Elite Four and I barely see the time of my world being expanded. I super indicate this game and I ask to ignore the haters. Give the game a chance, just like I did and I'm glad I gave it a chance, otherwise I would have missed a fun and exciting game. I never had fun in a game of pokémon, as it was in these games.     I think the game is kinda nice. You should consider that its not part of the main series, so there is another point from where the game should be viewed. In my opinion, it's a good way for Nintendo to test the way a Pokemon Game could function on the switch. And i really enjoyed to visit the old Kanto locations. Also, the new wild battle system. It is fun to catch Pokemon like this, but regular wild battles would probably still be better. It's not bad, just it used to be better. Also, I feel it's a bit too easy. I know it's aimed at people who are new to the game, but there should be at least an option to turn the exp. share off. I'm currently playing the game and my Pokemon are all over-leveled and it was without much effort. Overall, besides a few flaws, Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee are very good games and introductions for people who are new to the game. I would recommend it for newcomers and old fans alike.     Its a Pokemon game. Duh. They've always been as hard as you make them on yourself. However Gamefreak made your starter WAY to powerful. Made the first hours mind numbingly easy. I've set mine aside to avoid carving my way through every battle with Eevee, because you TOTALLY could. Instead I've solved this by building a team without him. Ramped up the difficulty enough for me to start really enjoying the game.

    *RNG*
    Always been part of Pokemon games. But the wild captures are still very luck based like in Pokemon GO. The Pokemon can still run away after you throw the ball. Eat your food and bounce. A bit annoying to say the least. Takes a lot of the timing and strategy of throwing a ball away, and leaves a lot to luck and fast reaction.

    *No Breeding*
    It was very unfortunate to miss out on the breeding and EV / IV mechanics of the game. That is a loss I cannot ignore. Plain and simple. If Gamefreak took the time, I believe they could have created a new formula for breeding for CP (instead of IVs). Missed opportunity.

    OVERALL:

    I'm loving this re-imagining of Pokemon. It's casual, sure. But still very enjoyable. Honestly I wouldn't mind if they continued to make these style of remakes for other generations. And hope they do! It breathes new life into the universe, and really feels like something new.

    If you are still on the fence about this game, give it a shot. Try it out for an hour, and I'm sure you'll see what I'm talking about too.    … Expand

    The positives:
    - It is Pokémon through and through in my opinion. You catch, raise, battle, evolve and more.
    - The soundtrack is nostalgic, but of very good quality as well; really enjoyable
    - I was skeptical about the art style at first. I found it too cartoony and not as realistic as it could have looked. A few minutes in, however, I already changed my mind. It looks beautiful (at least on my television, I have not used handheld mode yet). To me it looks like it always should have. It's colorful, cheerful and
    - it's more a living and breathing world than ever before. Pokémon appearing in the overworld, I never want that to go away
    - The attention to your starter Pokémon is great and since Eevee is one of my favorite Pokémon of all time and I want one for real, her adorableness is very pleasing
    - There are still plenty of trainer fights
    - I find using the Pokéball Plus to catch Pokémon with, genuinely more fun than just clicking a button as in the previous games
    - You don't only have a Pokémon following you, but you can ride a bigger one and Eevee rides YOU! I love it
    There is more interaction with your Pokémon now, due to the point above
    - Many characters, like Brock and Misty, look better to me now than even in the anime
    - Slight tweaks in where to find items and in the story, keep my approximately one millionth journey through Kanto relatively fresh and enjoyable
    - The new shiny chaining method is very nice and it even keeps count of your chain for you!
    - You can rename Pokémon at any time
    - You can access your box from your bag
    - Despite all the negatives below, the fun factor is MASSIVE

    The negatives:
    - You no longer fight wild Pokémon. This is of course the big one. I would be all for fighting them first, then having the current throw/catch mechanics activate as soon as you select a ball from your inventory. A toggle for this or classic capturing would also be nice
    - Capture rate is very low, even for some low-level Pokémon
    - Pokémon can flee or block you at any time. The flee even if you just used a berry or threw a ball, unlike in Pokémon Go. This is really frustrating when you are chaining, or when you encounter something rare
    - The starter Pokémon are too overpowered. Yes, Pikachu in Yellow was underwhelming and almost useless. A slight buff after a certain level threshold to replace evolution would have been nice. But... my Eevee has continuously been handed out attacks it should not be able to learn, just to ramp up her strength and those attacks have broken effects. 100% chance to burn and paralyze on 90-power attacks, for example
    - You cannot turn exp. share off, unlike in previous entries. I would like to not earn ungodly amounts of exp when catching Pokémon. I avoid catching what I want sometimes because I find I'm getting too much exp.
    - You cannot sort your party on top in the box. You have to favorite them first, then sort by favorites. And sorting favorites cannot be done in conjunction with alphabetical order, only numerical
    - The story changes fall a little flat at times
    - Little pet peeve: I wish they had used Eevee's VA from the XY/Z anime instead. That one was spot-on and to me, the one in Let's GO Eevee, sounds a bit too much like a human trying to be a cute Eevee
    - While on one hand there is more interaction with your starter, it also sacrifices grooming, for example. Changing hairstyle is not possible with your controllers, not even with the Pokéball Plus and you cannot play with any of your other Pokémon like you did with Pokémon Amie/Refresh in XY/SM/USUM. This, I really miss. An emphasis on playing with your Pokémon and fuzzy adorable cuteness, yet my Vulpix can only be playing with when loaded into my Pokéball Plus (and thus I can't see it), or talked to a bit when it's running behind me in the game. No more real petting, feeding, etc. of your other Pokémon. Unless I missed that, which would be a gross mistake on my part
    - Menus overall are clunky, but I play exclusively with the Pokéball Plus, so your mileage may vary if you use the Joycons/touchscreen
    - 'Running' is a bit slow, but that sort of was the case in SM/USUM as well, if I recall correctly. I even find my ride Pokémon slow, though. And that is supposed to be a fast one (not spoiling which one)    … Expand

    + The story is fun! It's not QUITE a remake of Pokemon Yellow (on purpose), but it comes very close while adding its own spin on some of the story.
    + You can get the Alolan versions of First Gen Pokemon in-game.
    + Unnecessary wild Pokemon encounters are GONE. You can now see exactly what's running around and choose to encounter it or not. Wild Pokemon battles are also gone (except for Snorlax and Legendaries I believe). You don't have to fight every single Pokemon to catch it anymore, you just complete the catching mini-game. Normal trainer battles still exist and are aplenty, don't worry! It's SURPRISINGLY fun to skip the unnecessary grind and just focus on the battles that really matter.
    + Your partner Pokemon makes the game incredibly personal and adds another layer of cuteness. You can change clothes, hairstyles and accessories on your Pikachu/Evee and match your outfits! You can also play with your partner, which will get you some rewards.
    + This game finally got rid of having to teach your Pokemon moves like fly/surf/cut etc. and having to have them in your party in case you need them. Your partner Pokemon learns all these moves in a special selection screen so no space is taken up in your attack selection and Pikachu/Evee can still use them even if they aren't in your party. You can still obtain those moves and teach them to Pokemon if you want, but they don't need to be removed by the move deleter!
    + There is no need to run to Pokemon centers to change your party anymore! You constantly carry your Pokemon box around with you and can change your party whenever you like. You can send Pokemon directly from your box to Professor Oak for candy rewards that will help improve your Pokemon.
    + Unnecessary on-screen notifications such as "would you like to name the Pokemon you just caught" have been removed and you can now name your Pokemon whenever and wherever you want, as many times as you want.
    + Movement is fluid, and you can have another Pokemon as well as your partner outside the pokeball. Some of these (the big ones) can be ridden or even flown on! Moving around on Charizard for example makes you move much faster.
    + The pokemon outside your ball will help you find items hidden in the world and your Pikachu/Evee's tale will wag if you're close to a hidden item.

    NEUTRAL:
    +/- The Pokeball accessory is quite expensive but in my opinion worth it. I absolutely enjoy playing the game with it and hardly ever use another controller. It fits well in the hand and is of excellent quality. You can also use it to level your Pokemon up outside the game while walking or link it to Pokemon GO for extra rewards.

    CONS:
    - There is no breeding in the game, which is a shame.
    - No GTS system, which is a major step backwards for the series and trading with people you don't know is a pain.
    - There's one Pokemon Go exclusive Pokemon you cannot get just through playing Pokemon Let's Go, and I think that's a mistake. All Pokemon should be obtainable in the one game you bought (and the other version) without having to play Pokemon Go.

    I was very skeptic before trying this game but I have to say it was worth every cent and a breath of fresh air in the series. Unlike Fallout 76, it just WORKS. And to the people giving this game 0/10 after saying in their review they really enjoyed the main campaign but were disappointed with the endgame content: that is not how scores work. Post-game content is an extra bit added to the end of the game. If you really enjoyed the game up until then, that is an unfair score to give and I don't know how you justify it. For anyone looking for fun, engaging game-game content, Pokemon Let's Go is absolutely worth a try!    … Expand

The game's director, Junichi Masuda, has made so many claims that all refute each other in terms of the target audience.

    The games take place in Kanto, so there is no reason to market this game to younger children because they don't have nostalgia for Kanto.

    Yet, he said this game was for kids that weren't able to play Pokemon GO due to not having cell phones.

    Yet, still, the only way to obtain Meltan and Mew are through playing Pokemon GO and buying a $50 peripheral respectively. Not things his claimed target audience are going to be able to do.

    He has stated that Let's Go is also intended to get younger players introduced into the more mainline games, yet on the same token, has said that younger players don't have the attention spans for complex video games like Pokemon anymore.

    These conflicting claims aside, there have been a lot of decisions in respect to the gameplay that point to a low-effort release, but I'll highlight the positive aspects first.

    - First, the removal of wild battles. This was a controversial move, but not inherently bad. I understand this change, and why it was made for these titles specifically, as the players coming over from GO are going to be most familiar with these mechanics (but I thought the target audience was kids who didn't get to play GO? Hmm...)

    - Secondly, wild encounters are no longer random, but happen in the overworld. For me, this is a welcome change, as it helps the setting feel more alive.

    - Thirdly, pokemon can follow you and allow you to ride them. Something fans have been asking about since Black and White.

    But here's where the games fall short:

    - The games only have the original 151, plus the new mythical, Meltan and Melmetal. All the other pokemon have been removed.

    - The difficulty of the game is nonexistent. Gyms have prerequisites, one of which is that you are stronger than the gym leader before you challenge it.

    - The new height system for pokemon means absolutely nothing. The models don't scale depending on how big the pokemon is, all are the same size regardless of what the game tells you.

    - Abilities, held items, several moves and eggs have been outright removed from the game.

    - EV's have been removed from the game, but the stats you CANNOT control, such as IV's, remains.

    - You play as a new character to the pokemon franchise, yet there is no customization, unlike the previous two generations as well as GO.

    - Animations and models have not improved in the 5 years since X and Y came out. Most pokemon still stand around as if they are just waiting to get hit.

    - Pokemon Amie (the petting and nurturing mini-game from the past two generations) does not exist for any pokemon besides your partner pokemon.

    While these games are intensely flawed, overall, yes, this game has entertainment value best suited for small children. I would rate this game much higher than a 0 if it were already clear that this is a game best suited for children, but the Kanto pandering of these games has muddied up who this game is really meant for. If you are a grown man reading this review, who is not satisfied with the qualities this game possesses, please, do not buy it. This game is perfectly suited for a child who would otherwise need help during the course of a normal pokemon game. If you are willing to spend $60 on a game for a child's birthday, this is not a bad way to go, but do not feel obligated to buy strictly because you are a pokemon fan. In addition, Yellow is almost 20 years old, so the people who are experiencing the nostalgia are probably between 30 - 40 years old (like myself). At that age, you should be completely competent to decide if $60 is too much to spend on your childhood nostalgia. Turning the game off, and throwing it into the trash. I'm also not a fan of this giant 10/10 review from people who clearly haven't played it but are upset about these negative scores.     terrible controls, no option to play with pro controller. no option to disable motion controls. the throw capture mechanic is just bad. Multiplayer is akward to play. and no guide to how to use the pokeball controller

    This is Game Freaks first attempt at EA-like mechanics with putting a Pokemon (mew/Pokeball Plus) behind a 50 Dollar paywall. You might say "ha, you're not forced to buy it and you get a accessoire." while that is true, it still doesn't change the fact that you don't get all the experience without buying into it (not to mention the lack of the other 653 Pokemon. I don't have a problem with accessoire itself, after all Heartgold and Soulsilver had a similar one, the Pokewalker too, but the difference is, the Pokewalker didn't paywall anything behind it.

    Also, I'm not generally against remakes, I love FR/LG, I love HG/SS and I love OR/AS too, but the thing is, these actual remakes never(!) took anything away. They much rather added stuff, not only could I catch all(!) at the time available Pokemon in siad remakes, no, they literally added content like the Sevii-Islands in FR/LG, or the awesome modular Safari Zone in HG/SS or the new Megas in OR/AS. They never took anything away, wether it was literaly content like Pokemon, or mechanics, or whatever.

    But LGP/E only gives you the original 151(+alolan Forms and Meltan/Melmetal), it takes away wild battles, items, abilities, breeding and literally everything that was fun at the games, yet they charge you 50% more money than ever under the excuse of making it "for beginners". Pokemon IS already easy, there is no dumbinging down needed, you can beat any Pokemon maingame with any wild caught Pokemon, you don't need to CP breed, you don't need to use the abilities or items, it was all done just to milk stupid casuals. Nothing more, and nothing less.

    And companies should always get proper response when they're becoming overly greedy.    … Expand

While they did simplify a few things and make the game overall easier, they streamlined so much and made the game faster paced, making everything you do so much more satisfying.     The pokeball plus is amazing in this game. Taking my pokemon to work with my and watching their levels skyrocket when I get home is such a great feeling, way better than the pikachu accessory I had as a kid that would reward me with pure **** It's also a great controller in it's own right for this specific game...

    That all said, the game is far from perfect. The cuteness overload of your companion is overwhelming at times. The game is WAY too easy and will stay that way if you take full advantage of the mechanics, you kinda control the difficulty yourself depending on how you play. The control options are limited, internet options are kind of a joke, and you still only have one save(per profile anyways). There is definitely some give and take here, but IMO if this count as a main line pokemon game, it's easily the best since gold/silver... Here's hoping for a Johto DLC!    … Expand

I've been playing Pokemon religiously for most of my life, and have tried every generation, sequel, and near ever title in the main series as well as most of the spinoffs. While most of the spinoffs past the second Pokemon Ranger games have been abysmal at best, Pokemon LGPE was a surprising taste of what it's like to combine a spinoff with a main series title in an effective, fun, and beautiful way.

    While I admit shiny hunting in a game where the Pokemon is simply seen in the overworld instead of randomly encountered can take a lot of the excitement out of capturing a shiny, it's still an interesting feature that makes the wold you're in feel real, alive, and tangible. The graphics are wonderfully aesthetic, both colorful and soft at the same time, and are the best out of the games so far as a collective. Nintendo took great advantage in showing off these improved graphics on a platform that will soon carry on the Pokemon flame, and the work really shows with how natural the surroundings feel. There's absolutely zero gripe here for the lack of Pokemon outside the original 151 (+Meltan) as it's supposed to be a Pokemon Yellow remake of sorts, but I can't say I'm a huge fan of the capturing mechanic.

    All in all, Pokemon LGPE is an experience all players can enjoy, whether they come from the humble New Bark Town like i did or the free-to-play app that launched in 2016. Especially if they're able to set aside the catch mechanic. God I hate that catch mechanic.    … Expand

    This was such a joy to play, the remake is so amazing, I have had such a blast playing it, I couldnt stop, it was so much fun, I enjoyed how the pokemon were visible in the overworld, it brought out so much more excitement when I would see something I needed or even shinies, the excitement just went through the roof.     Content: 153 Pokemon are out there. Some alola Pokemon can be traded, thats it. No other Pokemon game has this less content. Its empty. They could add them all!! just to compensate the missing abilities, moves and items. Its like this game has been made in less than 3 months. Using the first gen for a big title like this should only work if you could fight other real player, train and modify your pokemon or breed. But they removed everything.

    Graphics: i read some reviews saying this game looks so cute and ect. thats maybe true. MAYBE they planed this style, but this is no excuse for this low details. Pokemon don't move properly in fights. you got 153+x models to set up for fighting and even then Pikachu does not kick in doublekick. Blastoise isn't using its canons and so on. thats lazy. thats betrayal on your fans. there is no point in saving work when its the fans that made your bussiness this big.

    I will sell my copy to save someone else from paying full price. this game should not get the attention it got. its a lazy dropbuy, it should be found in some retail store with some big sticker begging you to pay 10 Bucks for it. The graphics are outdated (even the 3DS games look better than this), the mechanics are flawed and simplified, and the animations are laughable. If you're fine with them putting in less and less effort in every subsequent iteration of your favorite franchise then by all means throw your hard earned cash at them and see this the video games sink into mobile/casual territory. The Director himself said in an interview that "People/Kids are used to mobile games and watching games on youtube", so by his defintion, you the consumer have the attention span of an ant to even be able to enjoy fully fleshed out video games and would probably just enjoy watching beautiful scenery than actually playing the games. But enough about that.

    See the problem with the games is, its a switch game, not only that but its pokemons debut game for the console itself. Its priced at 60$ which is 20$ more than the previous games and it has less content. This is a fact. Stripping the other pokemons itself is already a huge chunk of the content out of the games. FR/LG had sevii islands in the post-game, HG/SS had the battle frontier, OR/AS had soaring, mirage islands, battle-resort, Delta episode then LGPE has well.. 1 on 1 with a bunch of trainers just re-scattered around kanto. I get it they want to lure in the Go community and the people that left the games a long time ago but at the cost of alienating your LOYAL fanbase. That a bit of a kick in the nuts. Why couldn't they find a middle ground to make the games appealing to both and then again by the way they designed this game it shouldn't even be appealing to the casual-fanbase, in truth its insulting, basically them saying that the games in its current state, a childrens game btw is too much for other people to handle so they had to dumb it down even for grown adults to enjoy? ridiculous. but hey people will probably just eat this up because its pokemon and its pretty.

    If you're a long time fan of the series and no matter how much this game looks appealing to you, just think about what this game means for the future of the series. Speak out, vote with your wallet. Maybe you won't feel the effects yet by the already announced gen 8 title, but at somepoint gamefreak is going to realize even without putting any effort into these games that they will sell, I assure you the video games will become shells of its former self.     Dumbed down pokemon game. No ranked online battling, no held items, no breeding, no safari. It's super handholding super casual mode. It's a slap in the face for the long time fans in order to satisfy a new audience which is probably made out mostly of long time fans anyways. If you care any of the things above stay away.

    I’m going to be 100% honest on this game. I got it cause I’m a huge fan and I do think the game and although the mechanics work very well and that the game has great textures I still don’t understand as to why they thought removing the Wild battle mechanics were a good idea, if they’d of just left the wild battle mechanics I bet you this wouldn’t of had so much backlash. Si bien un impuesto HD es una práctica común, Sun y Moon, con proporciones humanas y un entorno sin cuadrícula, tienen gráficos mejores. Si bien esto también se comercializa como un pokemon de consola doméstica, el juego es casi imposible de jugar en la TV sinEs el epítome de la codicia de GameFreak.     Overall, I did have a blast playing Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee. I did like visiting all the cities of the original Pokémon games again and seeing all the original Pokémon. However, I really did not like how they changed how you capture Pokémon and I did not like the setup of the Pokémon boxes. For those who want to play this game for nostalgia reasons, I would recommend waiting until a sale comes out before purchasing. For newcomers to Pokémon, this is a really good introduction into the world of Kanto.
