Nov 16, 2018Pokémon Let’s Go has a lot of great innovations that would be welcome in other Pokémon games, but the experience is just too simplified to hold my interest. I’d wager that most long-time Pokémon fans will feel the same.
-
Nov 14, 2018Pokèmon Let's Go is a true pokémon game, but with too much unnecessary simplification. In the middle of a Nostalgia experience and an opening to newcomers, they didn't find the right mix, but we really enjoyed their passionate graphical work on the game.

CD-ActionFeb 6, 2019Let’s Go, Eevee! is without a doubt a crucial step for the series. Or rather 18 steps back, 19 steps forward, and 15 steps sideways. It’s a remake of classic Pokémon games, although not a nostalgia trip for hardcore fans but rather a bridge for 147 million of Pokémon Go players – hence many elements were cut to simplify the gameplay. [01/2019, p.66]

Edge MagazineDec 6, 2018As a first adventure for beginners, young or old, this gets a lot right. No alarms, then, but a fair few surprises. [Jan 2019, p.119]
-
Nov 22, 2018A welcoming addition to the beloved series. It has so much heart behind the little details and seems powered by a general sense that player enjoyment was behind many of the key decisions that went into making this game. While potentially lacking in difficulty sometimes, almost every change is actually an improvement that brings Pokemon as a whole into this new generation of gaming.
-
Nov 19, 2018Pokemon: Let's Go, Eevee!/Pikachu! is an enjoyable RPG but its the third time we've gone through it and the new elements didn't add anything to differentiate it from the previous one.
-
Nov 19, 2018Pokemon Let's Go is the perfect game for families, casual fans, and those looking to ride a wave of nostalgia. Those looking for a complex and competitive Pokemon experience should temper their expectations, or look elsewhere.
-
Nov 13, 2018The gameplay is easy but intuitive and it has definitely drawn inspiration from Pokemon Go. While both games are extremely attractive and cute, the game might be a bit too simple and shallow for the fans.
-
Nov 13, 2018It is very obvious these games are made for a new generation of trainers. The Pokemon Go way of catching Pokemon is very successful, and the small changes to the beautifully crafted Kanto region are revolutionary. It is just a bit too simple for experienced Pokemon players.
-
Nov 13, 2018Merrily exploring Kanto with the new controls, rather than catching wild Pokemon, isn’t terrible. The use of a single Joy-Con to get around becomes somewhat convenient. It’s easy to understand why, as it gives you, the player, far more freedom in regards to sitting down and progressing through the world. This proved to be too inconsistent a method, though, as catching monsters repeatedly is a core gameplay element forced onto you too much in the game.
-
Nov 13, 2018Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! represent a different line in the Pokémon series. Reflecting a more accessible take, these two games make the experience more open to new players, while keeping several nostalgic and legacy factors intact for seasoned veterans. While not all is a resounding success, namely when it comes to its limited online component, uninteresting motion controls and an overall level of challenge that is below expectations, some of the games' new elements are more than likely to bring a fun, enjoyable time to players of all backgrounds.
-
Nov 27, 2018Pokémon: Let's Go should satisfy younger players, and those entering this virtual world for the first time after having fun with the GO app. And while some of the changes in this remake are welcome, the core fans will find this title to be a somewhat shallow and easy JRPG that's a bit overpriced.
-
Nov 25, 2018Pokemon Let’s Go is best approached exactly like Nintendo described it. It’s an experimental side game and in no way a substitute for a main series title. Luckily, we should get a chance to experience a new core title for the Switch next year. As it stands, Pokemon Let’s Go is a decent morsel which will help pass the time until then.
-
Nov 18, 2018Let’s Go is surprisingly shallow when compared to just about any Pokemon game, despite an appealing presentation that returns players to a popular location.
-
Jan 15, 2019For complete newcomers, it’s a solid entry point into the Pokémon world. Those who have already tread those paths before won’t find anything new that's worth seeing.

Nov 16, 2018I call it a portable, comfort-food quest suited perfectly for my get-in, have-fun, get-out tastes (along with, honestly, my affinity for a range of colorful, oddball monsters). Anybody who's tired of the games' ancient Kanto region may struggle to feel the same jolt I did, and that's fair.
-
Nov 13, 2018Pokémon's Switch debut deftly toes the line between returning fans and all-new ones, with a few small wobbles along the way. [Eurogamer Recommended]
-
Nov 13, 2018Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu is another good example of Nintendo doing what it both excels and fails at: pairing fun gameplay while introducing a new mechanic.
-
Nov 13, 2018There is very little new or novel about Pokémon Let’s Go! Eevee and Pikachu. Even the divisive new mechanics are cribbed from Pokémon Go. In the end, I don’t feel like that matters. It’s still Pokémon. It’s still a story about learning who you are and what you’re capable of, still a chance to become emotionally connected to the creatures who help you on that journey.
-
Nov 13, 2018Shedding expectations about what Pokémon is supposed to be is the toughest challenge here, more than trying to become a Pokémon master. But we’re now in a new era of Pokémon, with a new generation of young trainers. Maybe the only way forward is to let go of the past.
-
Nov 19, 2018It’s not going to be for everyone, but I must confess I’ve not been this into a Pokémon game since Pokémon Red, way back when I was a ruddy boy. Just a shame the motion controls Nintendo forced in wreck it for a lot of people.
-
Nov 13, 2018As Pokémon has grown as a series, I’ve sometimes felt left behind or even stuck in my memories of older games. I’m less interested in catching them all these days, or massaging specific stats into my perfect fighter. Let’s Go allowed me to live in its world without the grind.
-
Nov 13, 2018Make no mistake, Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee aren’t the foundation-shaking next-generation Pokemon games hardcore fans have been waiting for, but experienced trainers will find a lot to love in this nostalgia-driven spin-off. Newcomers and lapsed fans will likewise find an approachable and exciting adventure with hidden depth.
