Revisit the first two Pikmin games on the Nintendo Switch™ system!

Reintroduce yourself to the plantlike Pikmin and strategic gameplay that this charming series is rooted in. From finding a way home to collecting treasure, Olimar (plus Louie in the Pikmin 2 game) must partner with a parade of Pikmin to survive the harshest of conditions. Both games support optional motion controls for more options when guiding your floral friends.

Find your way home in the original Pikmin-plucking adventure

Meet Captain Olimar and a capable cast of red, blue, and yellow Pikmin on a dire mission across a larger-than-life planet. Olimar must guide his loveably-leafy companions through obstacles, in battle, and when collecting his missing ship parts.

Meet even more Pikmin (and Louie) on a treasure-hunting expedition

Swap between Olimar and Louie to divide and conquer in Pikmin 2. Tasked with helping pay off their employer’s debt, the pint-sized pair teams up with Pikmin (including purple and white Pikmin) to collect treasure on...you guessed it...a strange planet. Time ticks away on the surface, but cave systems let you take your time to let your strategy blossom.

It’s been a pleasant trip down memory lane with both Pikmin 1 and 2, and if you’ve never had a chance to experience either game, I’d say they are both highly recommended and stand the test of time quite well. Neither game is particularly long, and while 2 can be challenging at times, both are pretty friendly to new players and work as a solid primer for the upcoming release of Pikmin 4. Definitely check them out when you get a chance, you won’t be disappointed.

Pikmin 1+2 are still wonderful games, and although it's a fairly pricey collection having the games on the Switch is lovely.

Pikmin 1 and 2's Switch ports might not be much of an upgrade in a technical sense, but the games themselves have stood the test of time wonderfully well, thanks to their timeless game design, addictive loop, intuitive controls, and healthy dose of charm.

These present us with two adventures with a huge strategic component, thanks to the different types of Pikmin and the variety of orders we can give them. With the help of these adorable creatures, Olimar will have to collect objects on a planet that is unknown to him while trying not to kill himself or his new friends in such a hostile environment.

In both games you get solid and playful gameplay where you solve relatively simple puzzles, manage time limits, and most importantly have fun. If you're willing to forgive the game for being twenty years old, definitely give it a shot. [Issue#329]

Pikmin 1+2 works as a good gateway for new fans of this franchise, with strategic and addictive gameplay that has you returning for more. Unfortunately, Nintendo didn't take the opportunity to fix some of its original bugs, which can be frustrating.

Pikmin 1 and 2 on Switch are the barest of bare bones ports. The clarity added by HD resolution and 16:9 support simply isn’t worth losing the improved controls of the Wii versions. In addition, these ports lose some of the original’s charm and contain strange glitches. While it’s great to have these games available on modern consoles, the Wii or GameCube releases are still the way to go if you can.

Everything i once saw 20 years ago on my small little TV is now in HD and better than ever! Most of the silly bugs have been patched, including the notorious crush glitch! Somehow knowing that you are against time, and you have to find the balance between farming pikmins and getting the pieces is great. It is a very simple gameplay...Some camera issues, and the movement of the pikmins is a bit clumsy, especially pikmin 1. But I recommend it to everyone who wants a different experience, far from mobas and shooters.

Once you start you know that you have to place the pieces, the tutorial is simple and direct (as it should be). Then, in the following levels you learn by force that your pikmins are fragile and you must be careful, that the day is about to end, and your losses are 60% of your pikmin population is not a good sign.

I could criticize the price, but a part of me has understood that when you buy games that are too low in price, they simply accumulate digital dust and will not be played. In addition, it is compensated in some way to carry your portable pikmin

    Minimal remastering efforts.

    Thoughts-
But then again, if all you want to do is play these games and enjoy their timeless charm, you can’t go wrong here. Pikmin 1 and 2 might be two decades old, but they’re still as fun as they were back when they first released. Timeless game design, intuitive controls, oodles of charm and personality, and an addictive gameplay loop come together to make for two of the weirdest and most oddly compelling real-time strategies games you’ll ever play. And with Pikmin 4 finally approaching is long-awaited launch, this is the perfect time to jump back into the series’ past and marvel at how well it holds up.
