Jul 7, 2023It’s been a pleasant trip down memory lane with both Pikmin 1 and 2, and if you’ve never had a chance to experience either game, I’d say they are both highly recommended and stand the test of time quite well. Neither game is particularly long, and while 2 can be challenging at times, both are pretty friendly to new players and work as a solid primer for the upcoming release of Pikmin 4. Definitely check them out when you get a chance, you won’t be disappointed.

Jun 30, 2023The Pikmin series is top notch and these HD ports are a great reminder of that for anyone who has played them before, and a wonderful primer to the series for anyone that hasn't. It's startling how well a lot of the artistic decisions that were made in the GameCube era still translate to now, like a soundtrack that is absolutely bang on, and character designs and animations that are infinitely charming. Whether or not the time limit in Pikmin or, conversely, the unlimited time, gauntlet-like puzzle caves and score chasing from Pikmin 2 is the preferred way to go, they're both excellent titles that play just as well now as they ever did. Plus Nintendo has included the New Play Control options for both titles, which updated them with pointer control on the Wii, as an added bonus.
-
Jun 29, 2023Pikmin 1+2 is a pleasant return to the past in 2023 necessary to further extend the lore around one of the most curious and interesting Nintendo franchises of recent years. Strong and powerful from a playful point of view, it is also satisfying from a technical point of view. Must have absolutely.
-
Jul 3, 2023Pikmin 1+2 are still wonderful games, and although it's a fairly pricey collection having the games on the Switch is lovely.
-
Jun 29, 2023Pikmin 1+2 are bare bones remasters of the first tow Pikmin games, but they are pretty good new versions in HD. We've loved to see some extras, but they are great games none the less.
-
Jun 27, 2023Both Pikmin and Pikmin 2 are two classic games that every strategy games fan should experience. With their high definition graphics and quality of life enhancements, these are the best versions of both titles to date.
-
LEVEL (Czech Republic)Jan 22, 2024In both games you get solid and playful gameplay where you solve relatively simple puzzles, manage time limits, and most importantly have fun. If you're willing to forgive the game for being twenty years old, definitely give it a shot. [Issue#329]

Aug 17, 2023Nintendo Switch ports of the 2001 and 2004 Pikmin games prove that an original gameplay idea can hold up even after a long time. It is worth helping the tiny creatures in their adventure and experience the legendary childlike joy that’s an integral part of this series.
-
Jul 17, 2023How these two games had gracefully aged, it is another proof of Nintendo’s genius touch. Simple gameplay from the first game remains charming, it is essential series gameplay, while the second part brings nice enhancements to the formula. Finally you can have full Pikmin Saga on Switch.
-
Jul 10, 2023Pikmin 1+2 brings two very unique GameCube games to the Switch in about as direct a manner as possible. These games have been reissued before on the Wii (and again on the Wii U Virtual Console), but this is the first time they’ve been available in handheld form. Apart from a higher resolution and the removal of a few licensed elements, these releases make almost no changes to the original games. Still, whether you’re looking to revisit the early Pikmin games or are coming to them for the first time, this is a good, affordable way to enjoy them.
-
Jul 6, 2023My only real disappointment was that more effort wasn’t put into sprucing up the visuals and tweaking the gameplay to iron out some of the minor frustrations from the original releases. Once you’ve experienced Pikmin 1 + 2, I highly recommend giving Pikmin 3 Deluxe a playthrough, which is also available on the Nintendo Switch. And thankfully, we’re not far off from Pikmin 4, which judging by the demo will exceed all expectations.
-
Jul 5, 2023As inventive and charming as when they released 20 years ago, 'Pikmin 1 + 2' on Switch are a welcome way to revisit Nintendo's wild excursion into the real-time strategy space.
-
Jul 4, 2023The remastered versions of Pikmin 1 and 2 have successfully stood the test of time, with improved visuals that surpass their original counterparts. This bundle caters to both new and returning players, offering an enhanced experience. However, some may feel that additional enhancements could have further enriched the experience.
-
Jul 3, 2023It’s been great fun revisiting these two GameCube classics, both holding up remarkably well and each a must for those that perhaps entered the series through its third entry. While the updates are minimal, that doesn’t diminish what are essentially two of Nintendo’s finest efforts on the purple box and a perfect appetiser before Pikmin 4 rolls around.
-
Jun 30, 2023These present us with two adventures with a huge strategic component, thanks to the different types of Pikmin and the variety of orders we can give them. With the help of these adorable creatures, Olimar will have to collect objects on a planet that is unknown to him while trying not to kill himself or his new friends in such a hostile environment.
-
Jun 30, 2023Pikmin 1 and 2 are still excellent RTS, ideal for fans of the genre and newcomers alike. The Nintendo Switch adaptation does not add much and graphically more could have been done, but it is the perfect appetizer in anticipation for Pikmin 4.
-
Jun 29, 2023We liked Pikmin 1+2 a lot. Especially the improved visuals and the solid port to the Nintendo Switch are positive points. However, those who expect any new content or other improvements besides better graphics might be disappointed.
-
Jun 29, 2023Pikmin 1 and 2's Switch ports might not be much of an upgrade in a technical sense, but the games themselves have stood the test of time wonderfully well, thanks to their timeless game design, addictive loop, intuitive controls, and healthy dose of charm.
-
Jun 27, 2023The Switch release of Pikmin 1+2 doesn't mark enough of an improvement on prior versions of the games to be a definitive upgrade, but copies of the first two titles on both GameCube and Wii have skyrocketed in value over the years. For those who aren't double-dipping, nothing about the HD renditions should prove a major turn-off as a way to play the games for a comparatively reasonable price. Although the lack of any new content or major overhauls prevents Pikmin 1+2 from standing out on its own, a competent package of two masterpieces still proves to be a worthy release.
-
Jun 26, 2023This pack demonstrates why the two original games were so groundbreaking at their time. It stands the test of time well, although some gameplay issues have been perfected in Pikmin 3 (and promise to be even better in Pikmin 4).
-
Aug 24, 2023Pikmin 1+2 works as a good gateway for new fans of this franchise, with strategic and addictive gameplay that has you returning for more. Unfortunately, Nintendo didn't take the opportunity to fix some of its original bugs, which can be frustrating.
-
Jul 24, 2023Pikmin 1 + 2 could be a good opportunity for Nintendo Switch players who want to experience original games, but it is a scarce game in terms of adding new things. Pricing is a bit inconvenient for replaying games with only high resolution graphics.
-
Jul 17, 2023If anyone comes into these remasters expecting Metroid Prime or Skyward Sword levels of work, be prepared to be disappointed because these releases are more akin to the Super Mario Sunshine reissue included with Super Mario 3D All-Stars. I see the primary audience from Nintendo’s point of view being those who have never played Pikmin who are interested in Pikmin 4, however not having all the options from Pikmin 3 Deluxe (also on Switch) limits the enjoyment for those introduced to the series from that release as the other main Pikmin games were released on systems that don’t have official support anymore and a very small percentage of people actually had a Wii U. Also, the fact that buying the two games separately is $10 more than buying both together is just an odd business strategy. Overall, I would say these games are worth playing, but are unfortunately not definitive versions that wholly replace previous releases or bring changes that future releases would make to the previous titles.
-
Jun 26, 2023Despite being barebone ports of the originals, Pikmin 1 + 2 are still great on the Nintendo Switch, bringing all-numbered entries of the franchise onto the platform for fans to enjoy.
-
Oct 23, 2023Pikmin 1+2 is a great opportunity to delve into the franchise' origins, especially if you have already played Pikmin 3 or Pikmin 4, also available on Switch. GameCube classics are still fun, but this re-releases are just basic HD ports.
-
Jul 3, 2023Pikmin 1+2 is a great accessible introduction to the beloved series for newcomers and a gem for existing fans, but the steep price tag and lack of features drive a hard bargain for a series that lets you jump in at any point.
-
Jun 27, 2023Pikmin 1+2 are welcome ports of Nintendo GameCube classics to the Switch, but little was done to update them in their 20-year absence.
-
Jun 26, 2023Pikmin 1 and 2 on Switch are the barest of bare bones ports. The clarity added by HD resolution and 16:9 support simply isn’t worth losing the improved controls of the Wii versions. In addition, these ports lose some of the original’s charm and contain strange glitches. While it’s great to have these games available on modern consoles, the Wii or GameCube releases are still the way to go if you can.
