Out of Space is a LOCAL and ONLINE co-op multiplayer game about living together in a house in space.

You and your friends are about to move into a house in space, where you will have to deal with a deadly alien infestation and face the challenges of building a sustainable spaceship, all to make your new place feel as cozy as home!

Each match starts in a procedurally generated spaceship house that will demand your best planning and teamwork skills to become clean and comfy. You and your friends will need to generate resources, recycle trash and alien goo, buy and build new technologies, and take care of one another, if you ever want to call home the mess that you got into.

As a COUCH-FUN game, Out of Space has short matches and is easy for everyone to grab a controller and play. At the same time also as a STRATEGY game, it will require short and long-term decisions, expanding and conquering new rooms and building technology to automate tasks.

Very funny game. Run very well on low end computers. I didn't play in multiplayer mode but it looks like a lot of fun.

It is a cooperative real-time strategy game in which players try to make an alien-infested ship into a new home. They achieve victory when they have placed a battery in every room on the ship. The game plays in a series of independent matches; there is no saving, no checkpoints, nor a campaign. The only sense of progression is via the achievement system, which rewards you by unlocking new items for future matches when you complete certain goals. The alien opponents are more like a contagion than anything else, spreading goo from room to room, so you will have to fight hard to keep them contained. The goo turns into eggs, which hatch as aliens which then start leaving more trails of goo to continue the cycle. Left unchecked, the infestation can accelerate rapidly, causing a tense but entertaining difficulty spike in the endgame of each play-through. Every game gives players a newly generated ship with different items to find. Small ships, which are 6 rooms apiece, will not take too long to play (maybe 15-20 minutes), but the bigger ship sizes can take a considerable amount of time. And this ties into my major issue with this game: it keeps crashing (shows the "an error has occurred" pop-up and closes out to the switch home page). So far I have experienced four crashes, two of those within the same day. They have all happened on medium or large ships, when I was close to completion. With no way to save the game, each crash represented 40+ minutes of wasted effort. The constant crashing has made this game next to unplayable, because I have no desire to start a new match knowing that it could all be for nothing. Therefore I would recommend against getting this game on the switch (not sure if this issue occurs on the other platforms). I can only hope that they will patch this game at some point, or at least institute some sort of a save system so that the current game can be loaded back up when a crash occurs. It's a shame, because despite how harsh the game can be, I was really starting to enjoy it, but for the time being it will be collecting dust in my switch library. Expand

I purchased this game after watching several Let's Plays of it.

Unfortunately, those LPs were of the PC version of the game. The "Couch Edition" still have bugs that were patched out ages ago on PC.

I'd say wait until you can confirm it's got the save version number at the PC version (which just got _another_ big update), or just get it on PC. Game's interesting enough, but the dev's on Twitter just keep passing the buck on the fact that it's missing so many patches.
