Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is a game that is sure to make faithful fans of the series happy and bring in new fans too. It’s a unique 2D platforming puzzle adventure that the community needed a good reminder that it exists. Although the controls can get a little out of hand even after playing for a while, the story and gameplay give the game a unique charm that I haven’t seen in most platforming games for a long time. Abe and the Mudokons are some wacky characters that I won’t be forgetting anytime soon and hope to see more remakes and new installments from Oddworld Inhabitants soon! But for now, Oddworld: Abe’s Odysee really is New ‘n’ Tasty!

The remake of Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty is a success of style, fidelity and gameplay. Adding a few elements to the original, the game confirms itself as a milestone for a genre lost in time that finds a way to live anew.

If you've already fallen for Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty! in 2014 or 2015, be aware that there is no need to go to the cash register again. The Oddworld Inhabitants remake is in every way similar to the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions. We therefore find the same qualities as well as the same defects. However, if you're discovering the license today, we strongly recommend this version, since the title gains in flexibility thanks to the arrival of an addition of size, the nomadic side of the console which fits perfectly with the spirit of the Die & Retry title.

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee New 'n' Tasty is a great remake, also now available on Nintendo Switch. If you want to try this classic, this edition is definitely a good choice.

Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty comes to Nintendo Switch so that we can enjoy the remake of a classic game now also in handheld mode. It is the same version of the remake that was released on other platforms years ago with the same quality.

A short but delightful and funny 2D puzzle platformer.

A few smart upgrades and gorgeous visuals give Oddworld: New ‘N’ Tasty a fantastic modern-day shine, and the smart puzzle platforming gameplay and dark sense of humour remain intact. While this port isn’t quite new anymore, it’s definitely still tasty.

Oddworld New 'n' Tasty is an absolute classic with gameplay that holds up today, that unfortunately isn't as technically sound on the Switch.

It's the same game released in 2014 for PS4, and then ported to PS3 and Vita. It's a superb platform adventure, with a touching message and an unforgettable cast. But, if you played it back then, here you won't find anything new, neither good nor bad, because everything is here, from the real time savestate to... not controlling Abe with the D-pad.

Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty is a faithful remake of the iconic 1997 classic, Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee. Fans of the original as well as those who love puzzle games will find a lot to enjoy in the newest installment of the franchise.

I didn't expect to like Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty! before I played, or during my initial time with it. But the unique level design, likable main character, and excellent soundtrack turned me around. Delivering Abe through harrowing situations felt like an accomplishment, and the design restraints forced me to face each level with its own particular approach. Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty! is definitely worth your time.

Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty! may be my first foray into the series proper, but it’s immediately shown me that I’ve got some catching up to do. Some graphical and frame-rate issues don’t detract from the charming, challenging platformer gameplay that makes this an adventure well worth having.

Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty! is a faithful recreation of the PS1 gem that is going to welcome back fans of the original. With some worthwhile future proofing in the form of quicksaves and screen panning, the trip is that little more accessible. For new players however, there is a chance that the awkward controls marring the precision timing needed might alienate and frustrate. Give Abe a chance however and even with the wealth of platformers available on the Switch, this stands tall as a title worthy of the purchase. A delicious remake.

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee - New'n'Tasty! arrives on Nintendo Switch not exactly in top form, offering a visually more sacrificed version than some of the editions seen previously.

If you didn’t get a chance to play this as a kid or take the opportunity to play the remake, I’d strongly recommend giving it a go before Abe Soulstorm — the reimagining of the game’s sequel — arrives on the PS5 next year. Though the humour is juvenile at best, with Abe often communicating in chuckles and farts, it is a perfect example of someone finding light and hope in utter darkness. We could all do with a bit of that right now, couldn't we?

Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is a great adventure platformer that is now accessible on Switch. It’s definitely showing its age in terms of controls and design, but it still holds up all these years later. Nothing has changed in this release, so it might not be worth playing through again if you already have, but if you haven’t, this is the best time to join Abe and make your escape.

Context of the original really can inform what level of accolades someone might give Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty. Without it, you might find the game a bizarre, competent, if clunky, 2D platformer with a few extra tricks up its sleeve. Looking back at Abe’s Oddysee, it couldn’t be clearer how much refinement was done in the action, and how much effort was taken to make it visually pleasing insofar as this world can be. There’s an undeniable charm in its oddness that provides a flavor to this Switch port either way, which makes it easy to recommend. Just make sure to give your fellow Mudokon co-workers a friendly hello.

If you're a 2D puzzle adventure aficionado who doesn't already own Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty on one of the half dozen consoles that it's currently available for then it'll make for a worthy purchase but those who do have it will find little reason to get it again on Switch.

Not all the fans may think New ‘n’ Tasty is a faithful representation of the original, but for the newcomers - it sure is a good starting point. While waiting for the Soulstorm, it's a great opportunity to play the Switch port of the 6 years old remake of the 23 years old game - on the go.

Overall, Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is a good game. That said, it hasn’t made me as interested in its sequels (that I’ve yet to play) as I thought it would. If anything, it makes me long for the original with its, if not timeless, nostalgic visuals. But the accessibility tweaks make this entry useful for new players who’ve yet to experience it.

Oddworld New ‘n’ Tasty is not only a solid remake, but it’s also a solid port. It’s strange that of the Oddworld games, the first game is also the last one to be re-released, but then by now, it’s been available everywhere else. If you’re new to the series and are looking for a challenging platformer with some puzzle solving then New ‘n’ Tasty could be the dish for you. If you’ve already got a copy of the game elsewhere, just be aware that the Switch version doesn’t add anything except another portable way to enjoy Abe’s Oddysee again.

Overall, Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is an older title that holds up well…for the most part. I did enjoy the majority of the time I spent with it, slowly working my way through puzzles and taking in the wild environments. However, things really do kind of fall apart whenever the action gets any faster than a brisk walk. The jumping controls in particular are a nuisance, creating sequences that nearly made me quit in frustration. If you’ve been interested in taking this classic franchise for a spin, New ‘n’ Tasty seems to be the best way to do it. Just be prepared for some of that old-school clunkiness.

Fans of the original and who would like to play it on the go will be all over this remake, a work that not only successfully captures the spirit of the original but also delivers an updated visual world. Those less keen on the Oddworld series and who don't enjoy puzzle challenges as much will mostly notice the game's somewhat clunky and imprecise control inputs.

For newcomers to the Oddworld series, New ’n’ Tasty is a good place to start and the anti–capitalism and anti–consumerism messages in Oddysee still feel (sadly) as fresh and important as they did back then. However, there’s no real reason to grab the Switch version if one already owns any of the others. It’s still tasty enough, but a little short on the new.

We realise it's not a popular outlook. Games should generally be appreciated for what they are rather than blasted for what they're not, but that's very difficult to do in this case. New 'n' Tasty is an acceptable imitation of Abe's Oddysee, but nothing more. It has its moments of inspiration – the Stockyards stage is so beautifully realised that it can momentarily trigger that "this is what I remember the original looking like!" false memory – but it's not enough to make up for the frustrations that come from the many, many unnecessary changes. Even the sound of Abe's chant, which once sounded mystical and otherworldly, now just sounds like babbling. We're very torn. As this is the only way to play Abe's Oddysee on Switch, we begrudgingly recommend it. But we do so with our arms folded, and pouting. Harrumph.

Better call it Oddworld New and Nasty! Bad game! Don’t be fooled by its looks.
Horrible controls , specially the Jumps (they have intentionally delay) , level design is bad , everything is made for you to fail. Character is annoying as hell, it’s Jar Jar Bings twin brother in everything: dumb, clumsy, stupid , awkward and annoying . Sounds are very annoying. Fun factor is gone after the first hour, because of the controls and level design. Controls are the Big Boss throughout all the game (one of the worst controls ever). The ending is one of the worst in gaming history: sad and disappointing. Don’t buy this junk! So much punishment for nothing!! Please, don’t buy , don’t play!!

It can be difficult to move with analogs,I wasn't convinced firstly, but after more or less than one hour, I get used to this remaster. It can be difficult to move with analogs, especially for those, who played old versions on PC and keyboard... Anyway, the game looks really good and developers did a reallly god job to change the visual aspects. But the models of Scrabs, Slogs and Paramites was better in original. Now they aren't even scary, and moves artificially.

Now the game is "fluent", the sidescroll idea is gone BUT there are too many loading screens imo, especially in Rapture Farms beginning level.

The game is now much easier than before. You can use quick saves and quick loads. Abe has a health bar and can restore it. And the biggest change, according to original version from 97' is that Abe can now talk to more than one Mudokon at a time... It means that most levels aren't a challenge now, and you can complete them and save all Mudokons on a first/second try. XD

I think that the "old version" still has the spirit and I encourage you to play it first - in case you don't have experience in Oddworld series, and would to try it !#
