Feb 23, 2020Great atmosphere and grahpics. Love the oldschool artstyle. The oldschool JRPG combat system feels solid. One big flaw of the game is the 8 seperate stories that they put in the game. It somehow doesn't feel right.

Apr 13, 2019One of the best turn based rpg games available. I would give this game a 10 if the story wasn't so long. Plus the side quests aren't as inviting as you would hope. Fortunately it gives you the option of skipping the story if you want to play it more than once.

Sep 6, 2019I love the classic old JRPGs so much. Even though the storytelling is not that great the fighting system and characters are interesting and exploring different towns and talking with people are addicting.

Dec 31, 2019Overall it is a fun JRPG game and I enjoyed that it has small innovations on top of the traditional JRPG structure. I just with it can reduce the chances that you encounter monsters in dungeons, sometimes it is annoying.

Nov 12, 2019Great RPG. I already feel nostalgia towards this game as if it was a game like Legend of Dragoon.

Feb 29, 2020This game is really fun and I spent so much time battling and roaming the surprisingly expansive world. The graphics are gorgeous and its a steal if the story wasn't terrible. I'm not that much of a critic but this story just had me pressing the skip button every single time. Other than that its worth it!

Mar 29, 2020Very nice graphics, great experience. The reason I come to this game is because it has a really good soundtracks (one of the reasons I play JRPGs). The downside is that the plot of each character has no relationship and interaction between the characters, but for me, the story is temporary. I still give 10.

May 1, 2020Despite not being a big fan of this retro artistic section, I must admit, it is impressive in this one. The game is outstanding in the playable section in its turn-based combat and has an incredible soundtrack. To put something down, I think the game is short on end-game content. But definitely recommended.

Apr 27, 2020Awesome rpg, really impressed me. Feels right at home on the switch. The graphics are amazing and very stylized. The characters are fun relatable and memorable. I would recommend this to anyone who loves fantasy rpgs and awesome medieval soundtracks they can listen to outside gameplay. Very good game yes very good.

Jan 21, 2021I love this game! The turn based battle system is perfection. The boost system is really fun and I enjoyed the depth and strategy required to defeat each unique boss battle. It was a pleasure to discover each characters storyline and the music was fantastic.

May 15, 2020This game looks great. It is the dream of any retro inspired game to look this good. Other than that it is very retro in that it plays just like something which would come out in 1990. Good to scratch a nostalgia itch, but that's about it

Jun 22, 2020The job system is excellent but it isn't very well supported by the story, which lacks cohesion and forward momentum.

Aug 6, 2022The music and the graphic are amazing. If you are big fun of JRPG, this is a must play.

Nov 17, 2020the story of this game is not only boring but also too slipshod. which is the most bad point in this game.

Dec 5, 2020If you enjoyed SNES era JRPGS then this is a must play. I don't recall the last time I had this much fun playing a 16 bit style game. My only complaint is the mid game grind. It's tedious.

Nov 2, 2020I’m generally not an RPG fan, and this game didn’t do anything to change that.

Dec 26, 2020Un señor RPG de principio a fin buenos gráficos en 2D uno los los mejores RPG que he jugado en Switch
-
Dec 14, 2020a really enjoyable JRPG which is visually beautiful with amazing music , the stories in the games are done pretty well though they are a bit disconnected , the gameplay is really good and has a bit of depth with the BP system and break system , this game has easily 80+ hours of gameplay and just a really good overall game

Jun 18, 2022Stunning visuals and music, fun battle system, but with many shortcomings in the story, instead of "Octopath Traveler" could be named "Eight Short Stories" subtitle "None of them memorable"

Oct 11, 2022A brilliant turn-based battle system with a stunning visual aesthetic. It is a shame the game is ruined by an unfair superboss that makes you do too much to reach it without being able to save. Should you fail, you will need to restart hours of work.

Sep 10, 2023Incredible art, music, voice acting and story. The JRPG style gets a little grindy but is managed well in this title.

Jun 21, 2019While those looking for a deep, story-heavy RPG might find Octopath Traveler lacking, the game is a hugely enjoyable modern take on traditional turn-based games of yesteryear with a collection of short story, rather than novel-length, narratives. The graphics represent the pinnacle of pixel art and the score is amazing. This game was pretty much a system-seller for me and well worth every penny and hour spent with it.
-
CD-ActionOct 25, 2018You can either hate Octopath Traveler’s art direction or love it, but it definitely will not leave you indifferent. Distinct visuals are just one of the game’s many strengths which make it a feast for the fans of jRPGs – and much more than that. It’s not flawless though – the dungeons are bland and there are virtually no relations between the characters in your party as they don’t communicate almost at all. [09/2018, p.66]
-
Sep 13, 2018Octopath Traveler is unapologetically old-school, and would not have been out of place if it had released back in the golden age of JRPGs.
