Sep 10, 2023Incredible art, music, voice acting and story. The JRPG style gets a little grindy but is managed well in this title.

Aug 23, 2023JRPG perfection: graphics, music, stories and plot twists at the end make this one of the best games in recent years!
-
Aug 15, 2023A blast from the past! It keeps the heart of old style rpgs while having updated graphics.
Amazing game highly recommend. -
Jul 14, 2023An SNES RPG classic made for Switch, will make you feel like you’re playing in your childhood bedroom.

Jul 7, 2023+ Epic and gorgeous soundtrack
+ World inspired by the golden age of RPGs is gorgeously realised
+ Puzzle-like combat mechanics are excellent
+ Character classes, levelling and equipment management has great depth
- Lack of compelling overarching story and character interaction
- Writing and dialogue is entirely skippable at times
- Pacing is a bit off given the 8 different paths -
Feb 27, 2023I loved and enjoyed all the stories, the gameplay was fun although repetitive in the end and the art/graphics are amazing.
-
Feb 21, 2023A stunning looking game with one of my favorite soundtracks in video games that gets held back by lots of grinding and predictable story.

Jan 31, 2023Pros:
Incredibly fun gameplay
Beautiful 2D graphics without feeling dated
Great soundtrack
Cons:
Character paths conjoin in a very minor way; does not explain why Therion allows party members -
Nov 24, 2022an absolute masterpiece! plot, music, characters, style. excellent voice acting. a stunning world that is fun to explore. one of the best JRPGs for me. there is nothing more to add. bravo!

Nov 22, 2022Only leaving this review to counter act attemptatreasons moronic review, he clearly doesn't understand what 'user' score means. It doesn't matter what you think it deserves, its what the game earned from its users. Also his review is void because he clearly never played the game. If he did he would of known that there is special party dialog.

Aug 24, 2022Octopath Traveler is bolstered by a strong soundtrack coupled with amazing visuals. If you enjoy older JRPG's then this game should be right up your alley. The 2D-HD style is phenomenal and seems like a great way to remaster older games.
As others have noted, there is no real overarching plot, but 8 separate stories. This did not bother me and kept the game refreshing during its long run time. -
Aug 16, 2022Simplemente genial. El estilo, la musica, la ambientación, jugabilidad... Ya lo he jugado 2 veces y seguramente dentro de un tiempo lo volveré a jugar. Nunca es mal momento...

Aug 6, 2022The music and the graphic are amazing. If you are big fun of JRPG, this is a must play.

Jul 19, 2022Octopath traveller is the best JRPG in the video game history. 8 characters/ 8 histories and an amazing gameplay
-
Jul 19, 2022Octopath is a fantastic game. The fighting system is great, the characters appealing and it offers an OST that's absolutely stunning. The overworld may be a little bit flat but what really lets this game shine are the stories and even more, the characters within

Qué joya de videojuego. Cada día descubro algo nuevo que me encanta. Ese componente estratégico bien valanceado para poder hacer frente a los enemigos. Es una compra obligatoria en Switch. -

Mar 16, 2022For those that love the 2D 16 bit RPG's back in the day you are going to be in for a treat. Visuals are stunning. Fantastic soundtrack. It sure is nice to still have some JRPG's that are turned based as that style has gone out of fashion over the years. (Try the demo if you want a sample)

Nov 21, 2021the developers popped off.
It's a very grindy game. Like, too grindy. And I don't even care because the combat is so fun. The art style and soundtrack is godly, the stories (multiple) are AWESOME.
thumbs up square, thumbs up. -

Oct 13, 2021One of the best RPGs of the generation, so many hours of fun, one of the best on the Switch.
-
Sep 28, 2021A beautiful game that is very charming, great battle mechanics and an incredible soundtrack. Only criticism is the story felt a little hollow as it's fragmented through all the various characters different story lines.

Jun 21, 2019While those looking for a deep, story-heavy RPG might find Octopath Traveler lacking, the game is a hugely enjoyable modern take on traditional turn-based games of yesteryear with a collection of short story, rather than novel-length, narratives. The graphics represent the pinnacle of pixel art and the score is amazing. This game was pretty much a system-seller for me and well worth every penny and hour spent with it.

CD-ActionOct 25, 2018You can either hate Octopath Traveler’s art direction or love it, but it definitely will not leave you indifferent. Distinct visuals are just one of the game’s many strengths which make it a feast for the fans of jRPGs – and much more than that. It’s not flawless though – the dungeons are bland and there are virtually no relations between the characters in your party as they don’t communicate almost at all. [09/2018, p.66]

Sep 13, 2018Octopath Traveler is unapologetically old-school, and would not have been out of place if it had released back in the golden age of JRPGs.
