Nobody Saves the World

Having now played Nobody Saves the World on Xbox Series X, Switch, and PC, I would recommend the Switch version above the others for offering the ability to play at home or on the go with a competent port. The gameplay suits the pickup and play nature of the system as well. I’m going to keep chipping away towards completing every aspect of Nobody Saves the World on Switch, but I can’t imagine this won’t end up being my favorite DrinkBox Studios release so far. I hope it gets a physical release down the line. If you’re looking for a charming action RPG that blends a bit of Zelda and Diablo together with its own signature style, Nobody Saves the World is for you.

Nobody Saves the World is a quirky and engaging little action RPG. With smooth controls, awesome art and sound, plenty of customization options, and fantastic multiplayer; you should definitely consider adding this one to your Switch library.

Drinkbox Studios has made its best game yet, as Nobody Saves the World brings a fresh tone to dungeon crawling, alongside incredibly satisfying gameplay. You’ll never run out of ways to combine your attacks or new threats to face, and with its quick, gratifying action and colourful world, it's a perfect match for the Switch.

Nobody Saves the World is a thrillingly well-paced and enjoyable action adventure that Switch owners won’t want to miss. An addictive quest system, surprisingly deep class system, attractive art style, and punchy combat all come together to make for a varied and engaging experience that oozes quality at every turn. If you’re a fan of RPGs with a lot of customization, old-school Zelda games, or classic arcade beat ‘em ups, Nobody Saves the World is absolutely a title you need to add to your library.

Nobody Saves The World is a mix not only of many styles, but of a lot of gaming experience. Chaotic, fun and with just the right amount of humor, you can spend hours just doing quests and forget about time, although some may find it quite repetitive.

Nobody Saves the World takes the joke a little too far, forcing the player to go through the same motions over and over, to the point where it feels like the game is laughing at you, rather than with you. [Issue #63 – January/February 2023, p. 19]

Nobody Saves the World is a charming action RPG with a beautiful visual style, accessible and welcoming gameplay, and a great variety in how we handle its dungeons. Its mechanics are simple enough for any player to grasp but that doesn't mean its difficulty level doesn't get demanding. Nobody Saves the World is a fun and ambitious gem that goes beyond the label of an 'indie' game and which will fit nicely in any Nintendo Switch.

Despite its repetitive nature, there is so much to love about Nobody Saves the World. Not only is it a great experience to share with a friend, but it’s a memorable one overall. Drinkbox Studios has crafted such a fun and challenging experience that definitely made me a glutton for punishment. There is so much creativity throughout the game from its overall aesthetic to its unique take on action RPG combat. Nobody Saves the World deserves so much praise for everything it accomplishes and is a must-play for anyone who loves crazy apocalyptic settings filled with questionable but loveable weirdos.

Being an avid fan of Drinkbox Studios previous games, I can gladly say Nobody Saves the World is another successful addition to their catalog. It brings creative class-based gameplay with a hauntingly fun animated art style that runs like a dream on the Nintendo Switch. Despite the repetitive nature of Nobody Saves the World, the lows never outweigh the highs of completing quests, upgrading abilities, and mixing and matching new class combinations. The map size and story length aren’t overly large, so even if it wears out its welcome a bit, it isn’t as egregious as it could have been. Leveling up and crushing waves of enemies never stopped feeling good, even after this Nobody had rolled credits.

Nobody Saves the World is a unique and charming action RPG, but it’s held back by some frustrating decisions and a disappointing beginning and end.

If a strong narrative is required to keep you invested in a game, it’s probably not the one for you, but for those out there who love the steady feeling of progress for its own sake, it’s a lot more fun than the idle games clogging the market and trying to scratch that same itch.
