    One thing I noticed about the negative reviews, is that a significant number of them could easily have their complaints addressed if they just looked into the games options menu. And if not that, some are just wrong, such as, "It's too bad they took [X] out," where [X] is a thing that is in fact still in the game.     Like most everyone who loves Monster Hunter, I didn't like the series at first, it finally clicked in 4U, and bloomed into my favorite series in World, and now Rise is the new pinnacle of the series; this game is a master piece. Hunt, craft, repeat. And do it all with friends.    … Expand

    Best monster hunter for noobs that are new to the hunting genre of games. Fast mobility, easier progression of enemies and an overall feeling of excitement despite the dated graphics. Fun on the go as well as playing with friends, this will be the best game to join in the fun of monster hunting!

    One of the best Monster Hunters.
    It remembers me of Tri, the same sensation of being a real NEW monster hunter.
    Love all the mechanics and the dynamism.

    And we are talking about the core game, without updates.... And if this turns a G for free (looks like) makes this game the best one.

    I have played every iteration of the Monster Hunter series since MH3 Ultimate on the Nintendo DS then 3DS (though I've not played MH World). MH Rise maintains the fun of monster hunting (it's most fun when hunting with other players) but adds two key things:

    1. Quality of life improvements e.g. it's quicker to collect materials along the way (it used to be painfully slow), the Palamute    I have played every iteration of the Monster Hunter series since MH3 Ultimate on the Nintendo DS then 3DS (though I've not played MH World). MH Rise maintains the fun of monster hunting (it's most fun when hunting with other players) but adds two key things:

    1. Quality of life improvements e.g. it's quicker to collect materials along the way (it used to be painfully slow), the Palamute speeds up travel, hold A to carve a fallen monster multiple times, etc.

    2. Fun new mechanics such as the wirebug which turns you into a bit of a mini Tarzan, and of course, the monster or wyvern riding capability, letting you control some monsters

    If you're new to Monster Hunter, my advice is to take it easy. Take your own sweet time at the beginning with the single player "campaign" which walks you through different quests which introduces you key aspects of the game. There is a whole lot to learn, however, you don't need to learn everything in order to enjoy the game. Just learn the basics, and I would say the key basic thing to learn is weapon handling - just pick ONE weapon (easier ones to pick up include sword and shield, dual sword, long sword - note easy to pick up doesn't mean easy to master!), and learn how to use it. (The next important thing is to learn how different monsters "behave" during hunts - it's the difference between success and failure in a hunt!) Your weapon is the main thing (other than armour next) that will carry you through your initial hunts. In fact, once you are familiar with the weapon system, you can immediately jump on multiplayer as well just to get a feel of hunting with other players. Monster Hunter is best played with others around the world - that's the fun of it!

    If you're a veteran of Monster Hunter, well, you don't need any advice. All that you knew is still there, but you get to enjoy the quality of life stuff that makes Monster Hunter Rise much more enjoyable since some of the terribly boring and painfully mundane mechanics have been taken out of the mix, letting you jump on multiplayer hunts immediately. That's not all though - there are new mechanics for you to learn too - the new Tarzan moves with the fun wirebugs, new Switch skills, etc. Hunting is still soooo fun!

    If you've played Monster Hunter World before this, you may find the mechanics in Rise just a slightly more "complicated" at times, but it's a perfect jumping on point because you're already familiar with hunts and weapons.

    As a result, I must say that Monster Hunter Rise is THE best in the Monster Hunter series and is a great time for new Monster Hunter players to join in the hunt, while returning or veteran hunters can continue enjoying the game with lots of new stuff - and helping new Monster Hunter players enjoy the journey.

    I knew after the demo that this was going to be something special and after 15 hours I gotta say they have nailed it . It's totally designed for the switch and looks and plays phenomenal on it !
    The stages and combat now are incredible bit best of all is the music ! I'm buying the soundtrack to this gem of a game ! Buy it

    Amazing game, highly recommend to any one on the fence about this great game franchise. Graphics are superb as well as how smooth the game runs.

    Gameplay takes a massive step up from previous entries thanks to the amazing wire bug and also switch skillsmassively improve the 14 weapons moves

    I was worried that after playing MHW that I would be disappointed with them going back to Nintendo, and boy was I wrong.     Played a little bit of MH World and couldn't get into it very much like other RPGs I've played. But with Rise, the quality of life enhancements and the overall flow of this game really clicked for me. The hype is real about the graphics and performance polish this game has for running on the Switch. I am also planning on getting it for PC when that drops next year, but it is worth thePlayed a little bit of MH World and couldn't get into it very much like other RPGs I've played. That music is incredibly well done. The sound design in this game is awesome. It's a nice mashup of MHworld, a little bit of a classic feeling while also being incredibly accessible to everyone. The Village feels alive. The colours are much more vibrant. The incredible setting of the Japanese inspired village and Haiku monster intros. The switch skills and wirebug techniques are also really well done and add a new layer to hunting. Definately up there with one of my favourites in the series.    … Expand

    This might be the #2 best switch game of all time. Next to BoTW...

    I bought Monster Hunter World for PS4 but got bored really fast. I was overwhelmed by all of the systems...I spent most of my time running in between areas of the map.     The game is impeccable. The things I disliked about the previous monster hunter game have been changed with the addition of mounted movement (at anytime) and the wirebug (grappling hook)

    I simply cannot stop playing this game. If you like 3rd person action games...If you like RPGs at all this is a must buy. This is one of those moments in gaming history where any description I might give you wouldnt do it justice. Just buy it...give it a chance and let it wash over you. Enjoy    … Expand

    Easily my favorite Monster Hunter yet. Adding the Wirebug and Palamute makes getting around the maps a ton of fun. Monster variety is much better than the previous outing, as well as armor and weapons.

    Don't compare to World like most of you tube is! This game is the successor to generations ultimate. the way multiplayer works, single player, food, palico training area, quests, everything is born from the old school monster hunter. there is quality of life enhancements such as no loads between areas and load time are really quick. the armour and weapon systems are pretty much the sameDon't compare to World like most of you tube is!     Essentially, the quality of life and the new mechanics don't break the game. it is easier than previous titles, but only because your already a skilled hunter if returning to the series. I thought it was stupid easy until I seen family that have never touched the series before trying to get to grips with it all, then I realised that I do have over 5000 hours spent on the series since early 2000's.

    I do miss mechanics from world that I had got used to sure. For instance, I really miss the clutch claw, hanging off its face and punching it directly in the face to turn the hulking beast and smashing a monster into a wall from it is way more satisfying than silk bind control, dropping off a high level directly landing on and mounting the monster is immense fun and missing too. Another infuriating thing is when the creature is battered and needs to run away, you could zip onto it in world and keep it in the area, which now its going to get away even on the back of your trusty Palamute, BUT, that's why all this should not be a comparison to World, its not World. The mechanics feel more of a direct lineage upgrade from generations ultimate rather than from world. World is very western in its story and its characters, and overall look (designed to be so) . Rise goes out of its way to introduce Japanese culture. its built for the handheld market, and that has always been strongest in Japan and Asia.

    Any monster hunter worth his salt is going to own every console or Pc with a current monster hunter game. world will have a world 2 for pc and console, and rise is the start of Capcom's new handheld MH Branding. So get ready to own 2 consoles or Nintendo and a pc whilst MH Stories is Capcom's mobile phone branding. As a business structure its sound (own three games rather than 1) and this will pave the way for a very bright future for all of us hunters as all games are fully supported. The series is still in the 'growing the fan base and loyalty' stage of development due to the west being late to the MH party.

    As for possible lack of content, you only have to see how Capcom have handled this in the past with constant updates and new monsters/weapons/armour/areas. your game is going to stay relevant for a very long time.
    lets hope Capcom don't do an EA or Activision once they have the massive user base, because you can see how that went, all those micro transactions and ripping the customer until the product saturated the market and fell from grace because of greed is to blame for the vacuum of power in the gaming world, and Capcom and Square Enix were just waiting for that moment to launch Jap gaming back into the mainstream.

    MH Rise is worth every penny. Cannot wait for G rank in rise and world 2 on the next gen consoles!    … Expand

    É um jogo que mantém tudo de bom que a franquia vem mostrando em todos esses anos, mas também cumpre muito bem o objetivo da capcom, que foi popularizar a saga, já que, antes de Monster Hunter World, era muito nichada, para isso, o jogo precisou ser simplificado para se abrir a novos públicos, e isso não é ruim, é muito bom, na verdade. Nota 10 sem dúvidas.

And the overall natural animations, the cute voice-over, and the adorable interactions between you and your buddies are the perfect sauce for this dish. On handheld the 30 fps are perfectly fine (on a big screen I get a headache, like with every low fps game). I believe Switch games are optimized forReally cool what Capcom did with gameplay.     This is the first time I have actually given the opportunity to learn how to play a MH game and honestly I only regret not giving the opportunity sooner. I'm using the charge blade for most of my play. After finally learning how to pull off the combos I can guarantee that the satisfaction and feeling of achievement were well worth the effort. The graphics, gameplay, music are all top notch quality that you’d expect from the Monster Hunter teams at Capcom. This game is amazing in every sense of the word!     It feels a bit unfinished, the groundwork is amazing, the mobility, new monster designs and move set, it's all great. World only had 1 extra monster on launch compared to Rise though, so over time this entry can reach extremely high, with the inclusion of master/G ranks, doubling the roster, adding to and finishing up the main story.

    But overall it's a very decent entry.

It has a gorgeous, and with so much detail, art style with the paint drawings, picture mode, the UI and menus. The maps are realy interesting. Weapons never been more fun and accessible, which is a really remarkable feature when you consider that the wirebug seems ratherMonster Hunter rise improves in a lot o manners the MH experience. It has a more interesting tematic and setting. It has a gorgeous, and with so much detail, art style with the paint drawings, picture mode, the UI and menus. The maps are realy interesting. Weapons never been more fun and accessible, which is a really remarkable feature when you consider that the wirebug seems rather complex. While it does greatly diversify the range of movement, it's a intuitive mechanic, granting this iteration a feeling that is not quite like either the old games or wod/iceborne. This game gladly tried to take most good qualities from old MH structure and world's improvements. A truly lovely game.… Expand

    The best Monster Hunter I have ever played. Without a doubt it is the best Monster Hunter that has been created. You must buy if you have a Nintendo Switch. You will have hours and hours of fun guaranteed.

    When I bought this game I was expecting a 3ds-like game with some improvements to make it look like MH World.
    I had no idea that a vice would hit me like the ones that I have not hit myself since I was little, I have more than 30 hours of play in 3 days and I can't stop. It is by far the best monster hunter I have tried in a long time and I have played all of them since 4.

    The combat is very fast and rewarding, a lot of the nasty grinding mechanics have been removed and the new string system is just great, it feels like playing spiderman.
    I recommend it 1000% whether you are a fan of the saga or not.

    No tenia idea de que me pegaria un vicio como de los que no me he pegado desde que era pequeño, tengo mas de 30 horas de juego en 3 dias y no puedo parar. Es por mucho el mejor monster hunter que he provado en mucho tiempo y eso que he jugado todos desde el 4.
    El combate es muy rapido y gratificante, muchas de las mecanicas de grindeo desagradables se han eliminado y el nuevo sistema de cuerdas es simplemente genial, se siente como jugar spiderman.
    Lo recomiendo al 1000% ya seas fan de la saga o no.    … Expand

    Jogo incrível, com a mesma play de World e alguns truques para facilitar a vida no portátil - achei as soluções muito boas e eficientes! Gráficos bonitos para o console, mapas grandes e cheios de segredos e muitos monstros e equipamentos, claro! Super recomendo! Quase 50 horas de jogo e muita coisa a fazer e descobrir.

    How does this game even run on the switch?
    It performs flawlessly. Furthermore, it looks like we ALREADY have an update from Capcom with new monsters coming in April.
    Basically its simple... if you liked Monster Hunter World, and you own a Switch, this is your go to game.

    He jugado a Monster Hunter desde Monster Hunter Freedom para PSP y he jugado a casi todos los los existentes a partir de ahí. He de decir que es el más fluido y divertido que he podido jugar junto al Monster Hunter World.

    Gráficamente es una gozada para Switch y llega al techo técnico de la consola o al menos, la exprime. El juego se siente fluido y enganchante, estilo de misiones,    He jugado a Monster Hunter desde Monster Hunter Freedom para PSP y he jugado a casi todos los los existentes a partir de ahí. He de decir que es el más fluido y divertido que he podido jugar junto al Monster Hunter World.

    Gráficamente es una gozada para Switch y llega al techo técnico de la consola o al menos, la exprime.
    El juego se siente fluido y enganchante, estilo de misiones, monstruos, el uso del cordóptero y las mascotas...
    Llevo varias horas y la ambientación Japonesa es todo un acierto, esperemos que saquen buenas actualizaciones y futuramente saquen una expansión tal y como hicieron con Iceborne.

    This is the best Monster Hunter game I have ever played. QoL improvements make it less tedious than earlier games. The wirebug gives is a great new addition that make the gameplay more fun. The graphics are stunning for a Switch game and the load times are surprisingly short. Absolute must play for any Monster Hunter or action game fan.

    Если в MH World я поигрывал между делом, то в эту часть залип конкретно. Видно что разработчики анализируют свои ошибки и исправляют их. Игра стала в разы динамичнее бодрее, дизайн приятнее. В общем отдаю 10ку

    Barely forced myself to put down the gamepad. I want to say only one thing - this game is just a MASTERPIECE! And undoubtedly the best game I've ever played on NS!

    Fantastic. This is the best monster hunter game. Took World’s smoother movement, open maps, and added insane levels of elevation and movement. Yes at launch the story isn’t over, but Capcom’s promised completion in April’s update.

    I've been having a great time with this Monster Hunter. It feels optimal for the Switch, with different areas big enough to make you explore them but not too big to slow the game. The addition of the Palamute riding feels very good and makes the game more fast-paced, which is ideal for hunts on the go. Moreover, it seems that the game will get periodical updates, which is a huge success!

    One of the best Monster Hunter games released, such an improvement over Monster Hunter World. The armor and weapon designs are mostly like the older games with unique and impressive designs. Gameplay is smooth and satisfying, can’t recommend enough, i hope this sells better than world.

    I LOVE this game, already hours of fun, I get what people are saying about the story but honestly I don't care about that as long as I can have a blast slaying these extremely fun, different, unique monsters. Plus it's one of the best running/looking games I have played in a long time. Even got more girlfriend into it, as far as customization and the dog (palamute) in it lol. I don't know how is it in co-op since I played it solo, but I love the gameplay, the grind and the weapon differences. Quita la paja del World de farmeo de huellas o ir andando a todos lados (ahora con un perro que además de ser más veloz no consume resistencia), y la mejora del online que puedes participar en las cacerías de tus amigos sin impedimentos por no completar la historia. Excellent set of monsters, excellent weapon and armor designs, great new improvements to the weapons, all the new monsters are excellent, just all around a great new installment. Graphics are excellent for a Switch game and performance is super smooth. Haven't obsessively played a Switch game like this since Hades.

    My very first Monster Hunter game. Well sort of. I tried World from a friend when the craze was high and the Generations Ultimate demo on Switch but really didn’t like it. When Rise was announced I initially was hesitant but it really looked interesting. I caved to Fomo and bought it digitally on release date. The first couple of hours were pretty jarring, a lot of information on systems,My very first Monster Hunter game. Well sort of. But I understood more and more, got better and better and without noticing it I had played for 15 hours into the early morning, something that has not happened to me since BotW. And I wanted to continue to play the very next morning. And the next day. Needless to say the weekend was very unproductive. Once the gameplay loop clicks you are in a carousel of fun that just does not stop. Hunt after Hunt of incredibly animated Monsters for the next better weapon or armour, multiplayer with friends or solo hunts in arena for challenge. And just like that, 150 hours in a month since release are gone. And I didn’t even try any weapon apart from the hammer. I don’t have time to play this much, how did this happen? (I slept way less, worth it). And there is an update with more content already? And another one comes out in a few weeks? Please, I want my life back. Anyway, tl,dr: I’m a Monster Hunter fan now.     I played it for around 40 hours completing the main missions and some side quests. After playing past iterations I can only say that this game is impressive. Graphically it is 10/10 taking into account that it is just a Nintendo Switch game, and how limited the system is.     It is awesome, like all Monster Hunter. But this one it is even more beautiful, and the possibility to climb and jump with your dog it's very useful and makes everything faster and incredible. I'm loving every new aspect :) 10/10

Música espectacular, gráficos espectaculares siendo de switch, jugabilidad totalmente fluida, tiempos de cargas cortos, un gran acierto el canyne, increíblemente bueno el coordoptero(cable bicho) te mueves mucho más fluido por el mapa, una pasada que no haya zonas con tiempo de carga totalmente abierto, una pasada poder subir alas montañas o donde te de la gana, el juego gana una verticalidad brutal. Mucho mejor recolectar mineral de un solo golpe enves de perder tanto tiempo recolectando setas, mieles, mineral etc.. Todo un acierto también el mapa que te muestran los enemigos, la fauna, los materiales etc.... El online va de 10. Vienen actualizaciones gratis.... El sistema de creación de armaduras y armas está mejor organizado, y tu equipamiento, la aldea kamura está muy bien organizada, no tienes que investigar huellas ni nada para desbloquear información de los enemigos, esta como antiguamente. ...     A nice mashup of original Monster hunter and MHWorld. Excellent sound and music with great care on details. The town feels alive, the maps are colorful, clean and super fun the explore. I think they really nail it for both old and new hunters.

After playing World and it’s Iceborne expansion I didn’t think they could achieve a better product however Rise incorporates the best features from world and the older games while combining them with new engaging ways to play. Monster Hunter Rise starts of with a great introduction to the world where the characters shine like never before in any other Monster Hunter game. The graphics have to be one of the best looking games on the Nintendo Switch even on handheld mode. Even at the start of the game it's promising all the way through it's finale. In the gameplay aspect in the past entries of Monster Hunter the game felt harder to grasp and each entry was a different challenge. In this entry of the series the weapons have never felt smoother and therefore faster. The animations are clean and spot on to what command you execute to be more effective on hunts. The story is simple and each character has it's own charm to add flavor to the story. The game has it's own Japanese- like culture that was the direct influence and it just adds to the charming aspect of the village. The palicos are as cute as ever , now even adding dog companions in to the mix to even further implement different play styles. There are so many different ways to approach each hunt to the point no hunt feels exactly the same which is extremely refreshing. If you are considering playing this game just for fun or because you are a fan you might love it as much as the hundreds of players currently hunting together.… Expand

    Lo mejor que tiene Nintendo Switch, es espectacular que pueda correr esta obra de arte, y no soy ningún fan de Monster hunter, me gustan y ya, pero en este caso hay que aplaudir a CAPCOM por su increíble trabajo. Y a parte de lo gráfico, jugablemente 10/10, y ambientación, todo, me tiene enganchado.

    Lo estoy disfrutando como un niño, es el primer gran juego del año de esos que llaman Goty, tecnicamente es una pasada jugarlo en la NS lite y la banda sonora me tiene enamorado.

    I’m impressed by how well the developers thought this game through. Rise simultaneously improves the formula used in World and makes Monster Hunter more friendly towards newcomers. It makes great use of Switch’s nature and by clearly separating the multiplayer from the single-player campaign, it ensures you’re going to have fun regardless of the circumstances. Apart from one subpar mode (which imitates a tower defense), it’s an amazing game. [06/2021, p.42]
