The core gameplay holds up after all these years, yet other parts show how dated/lack of development compared to today's expectations.

Cons - The writing is just passable enough to progress the story, although it's really an eye-roll at times... I did find a lot of the characters to be annoying to indifferent. -The factions that you play as in the story surprisingly get worse??? Very

    Cons
    - The writing is just passable enough to progress the story, although it's really an eye-roll at times... I did find a lot of the characters to be annoying to indifferent.
-The factions that you play as in the story surprisingly get worse??? Very odd design choice, but it's noticeable starting at act three, where you have to grind battles for experience points to level up. Necromancy faction feels very weak until you get a certain few artifacts and the better units. Then after that the demon faction feels also weak for awhile and same thing you have to grind battles. Then when you get the extra turn artifact it becomes too easy. The last faction feels the weakest, the magic faction is way too weak, all of the units just feel overall like there's too many negative aspects, and the hero ability is just terrible, it's up to chance if it does anything. An easy fix they coulda done is pick five spots for the lightning bolts to land, and you cant pick the same spot multiple times, that's way more fair for this ability. This in turn makes the last act of the story just drag on because the magic faction is just terrible and the fights take way too long, and just feels like a chore. I pretty much quit at this point because this feels like a difficulty spike but due to very poor design choice. For this being a definitive edition they could of maybe made some alterations to make this faction a bit stronger.
    - Some general bugs/poor design, as sometimes the music will play during a "cutscene/conversation" then abruptly stop when the conversation stops. Also during battle the music will sometimes not play, or a rather odd design it will play then finish the song, be quiet for a bit before playing another song, just kind of poor design.
    - In the story mode, I'm not sure why your "sidekick" for each act doesn't do anything. It would be cool if it was like a special unit, or they provide a small buff. Because their commentary during the story is very minimal and they don't add enough to the story.

    Pros
I like the overall art style, with the different designs for each of the factions and units.
If they ever make another game like this, I would like more dynamic backgrounds
-The core gameplay is honestly quite fun, I like the strategy that results of the combine 3 units, with also other units that require two, or even four. and being able to combine/stack. I wish there were more games like this to be honest.
-Gameplay and controls are responsive and easy to understand

Overall, a solid game, but with some flaws.

Might & Magic – Clash of Heroes: Definitive Edition’s nearly perfect combination of puzzle and RPG elements make for engrossing gameplay that’s only occasionally hampered by frustration with the components that involve random luck. Whether this is your first playthrough or a double (or even triple) dip, it’s not to be missed.

Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes has held up very well despite many similar games coming out in the intervening years. It offers a high level of depth in its battle system that keeps you coming back, and is especially well suited to the Switch’s handheld mode that makes it easy to say “just one more battle.”

Might & Magic – Clash of Heroes: Definitive Edition doesn’t add very much to the original game, but it was already a strong game that stands for itself quite well in modern times. Dotemu has done a capable job of bringing it to the Switch, and it fits the platform almost as well as it fit the Nintendo DS. If you’re looking for a cool new puzzle game that offers both a substantial single-player mode and enjoyable multiplayer gameplay, you’ll likely be quite satisfied with what this game has to offer.
