Petite and Ratalaika Games have done an excellent job with the artistic design. With a few shades of colors, they have managed to create that dark environment that will dazzle the player.

Midnight deserves praise for bringing innovative and challenging level design to the golf genre. Deluxe makes the package feel more complete, although I would like to see more than just new levels. Some additional polish in terms of the controls and the freezing would be something to be desired in an update. Nevertheless, Midnight Deluxe shouldn’t be ignored as a solid puzzler with levels that will stump you for quite a while.

Midnight Deluxe goes for the 2D arcade golf mechanics and even manages to find some creative levels that utilise them well but a lack of refined control and limited playing options leave this game failing to fulfil any potential that's on offer.

Despite appearances, Midnight Deluxe is a completely different game to 36 Fragments of Midnight before it. While it's a solid enough casual golf game, however, it lacks the precise control, generous level design and joyful spirit of the best examples of the genre.

Midnight Deluxe brings with it a competent visual environment and decent control systems for a game with a rather unusual premise. Beyond that, the experience quickly loses appeal, as the difficulty level feels forced, the game becomes repetitive on a short-term basis and does not motivate the player to go further.

Even if they were giving it away, I don't understand why anyone would sacrifice their time to play such a basic yet frustrating exercise in tedium. That is, unless they're reviewing it to warn others not to bother.

A game to play when you have a couple minutes to spare, like a mobile game, little challenges that don't take much of your time.

I made a Metacritic account because of how bad this game was. Full Review »
