In this golf-like game with a perpetual darkness setting, your task is to guide a little square-shaped fairy, named Midnight.

Use your controller or touch-screen controls, to launch Midnight into the night sky, but watch out! The world of Midnight is a dangerous one thanks to the likes of spikes, circular saws and plenty of other dangerous objects and even if you do manage to get Midnight into the safe zone, to advance to the next level, there's the added challenge of trying to complete each level in the least amount of shots as possible to get all three Stars.

    Features:
70 engaging levels that get progressively harder.
Enhanced graphics that are even greater than those seen in 36 Fragments of Midnight
    Controller support added
Touch-screen controls have also been added for the players who would rather use their fingers.
A soothing piano soundtrack throughout to complement gameplay.

Midnight Deluxe’s reliance on its singular mechanic only makes for a repetitive experience overall. The game is too laid back for its own good, so much so that what little creativity it offers is often lost in the midst of its simplicity. That said, there’s certainly some fleeting fun to be had here and I do credit the game for its decent visual and audio design. All in all, Midnight Deluxe is passable, at best.

Midnight Deluxe wants to come across as a calm and relaxing game and tries its very best to do so. Unfortunately, it suffers from some fiddly controls and an over reliance on luck rather than a well-placed shot.

This isn’t the worst physics game by any means, but there isn’t much to it. With nothing fun to unlock and no sense of accomplishment in gaining three stars, you find yourself bored very quickly. Reload times are fast and the instant retry is great for when you want to test out the level first and mess around before you make an actual attempt. This is probably better on a mobile platform where you can use touch controls to determine the force at which the little square guy flies. With an analog stick, it’s like being in a constant sand trap. I can’t say I hated Midnight Deluxe, but I can say I didn’t really like it either.

The difficulty curve is spot on in my opinion because whilst it offers you a challenge it never gets too frustrating at all. There isn’t lots of levels for you to get to grips with I found the levels that are available to be very cleverly designed with lots of variety present as well. Technically the game holds up really well throughout your time with the game and the controls remain responsive at all times. In terms of content the game has very little and you can complete this game in no time at all. There are no online leaderboards of any kind which in turn means the game has no replaybilty and you definitely won’t return back to the game. It doesn’t offer anything different compared to games in the past and if you’re not a fan of these games it is highly unlikely to change your mind. In the end Midnight Deluxe surprised me quite a bit because the price the game is currently at I must admit that I didn’t expect very much. Don’t get me wrong it isn’t going to win any awards or anything like that but what it did do is provide me with a very enjoyable time. Without a doubt my favourite thing about this game was its presentation and that’s because both the visuals and sound design create a charming and relaxing experience from start to finish. Unfortunately though this experience doesn’t last very long because in terms of content the game doesn’t have very much at all. Thankfully though the content it does have has been done really well and even though it doesn’t offer anything new in regards to this specific genre I was still impressed with each individual level in the game. The difficulty curve also impressed me as well because it does offer you a challenge in some levels but it never becomes too overbearing so you very rarely get frustrated if at all. At the end of the day then Midnight Deluxe does more than enough to get a recommendation from me and even though it doesn’t offer much in terms of replayability for the price you have to pay this game is well worth it.
