    There is a lot to like about Loop8, and there’s the sense that the creative team put a lot of work into the symbolism and theming of it. They shot for the stars. Unfortunately, it fell slightly short, and while it’s interesting and different, it never lives up to the clear potential it had. But that’s also okay. At least they tried something different. Gaming wouldn’t be worth it if people didn’t take a creative risk every once in a while.

    While the gameplay isn’t for everyone, the world is intriguing and delightful to discover. Those who are fans of visual novels, social simulators, and battles against mysterious monsters will enjoy Loop8: Summer of Gods.

    On paper, the looping concept and setting could’ve worked well, but it feels like there was a disconnect between the people working on the in-game combat and dialogue systems with the rest of the game. Loop8: Summer of Gods is one of the biggest disappointments of 2023. It had so much potential, and I hope this idea is revisited in the future, but I cannot recommend it right now unless you’re ok with boring gameplay that feels more like a chore than anything. The great art, music, and voice acting sadly isn’t enough to elevate this to something I can recommend at full price. It should’ve been better.

    For all of its rough edges, and there are plenty of them, I still think Loop8: Summer of Gods is one of the most interesting games I’ll play this year.

    While Loop8’s story has the potential to be incredibly interesting, it never really lands and fails to leave an emotional impact towards the end. It's all presented beautifully and has a unique mix of gameplay styles and ideas, but their repetitive and frustrating nature makes the whole experience a chore. It’s like toiling away at your summer job and going through the motions until it’s time to leave.

    I think most people don't understand the game, the game focus on a town and all happens in the same town, it is more than logic that the townI think most people don't understand the game, the game focus on a town and all happens in the same town, it is more than logic that the town is the same in the twisted version and therefore also the lack of dungeons. People want to create something that goes against the logic of the game. The loop system is not to go back and try to save anyone from dying people WILL die based on your descisions, it is not intended to go back and fix it. This is no Fire Emblem with permadeath and every time you lose a party member you reset the game, this is more like the Banner Saga series were people die and you move on, that is exactly what the devs mean by your descions MATTERS. So the problem is NOT the game but people who don't understand the game!… Full Review »

    El juego se trata de un JRPG que mezcla las batallas por turnos, la novela visual, y aspectos de Rogue-like y de simulación de vida y citas.El juego se trata de un JRPG que mezcla las batallas por turnos, la novela visual, y aspectos de Rogue-like y de simulación de vida y citas. Se trata de algo distinto a lo que estamos acostumbrados en el género, si bien no destaca en ninguno de los campos que trata de abarcar. Es un juego con una premisa interesante: "La humanidad está prácticamente extinguida, siendo perseguida por unas criaturas -Kegai- que amenazan su supervivencia. Muchos supervivientes optan por vivir en el espacio, mientras que nuestro protagonista, Nini, se ve obligado a regresar a la Tierra y a enfrentar a estas criaturas para poder salvar la humanidad". Sin embargo, la historia está expuesta de manera caótica y poco comprensible. Es más, la mecánica que debería destacar más - los LOOPS (bucles)- es básicamente una excusa para el game over que no aporta nada. Al repetir el verano tras un loop, lo único que te llevas son "Bendiciones" (subidas de stats), pero en tema de contenido, es una repetición total de las mismas conversaciones que son 90% vacías. Aunque el combate y subida de estadísticas tienen su aquel (combate clásico por turnos, controlando únicamente a Nini de los tres miembros máximos, con un triángulo afecto-amistad-odio que sustituye a otros tipo agua-fuego-planta; mientras que los stats se suben con actividades cotidianas).
    Aunque el juego cuenta con ciertos problemas más allá de la propia historia. Cuenta con animaciones toscas y poco fluidas de los personajes, una velocidad de movimiento exasperantemente lenta, así como lag en muchos momentos (en ocasiones empeora esas animaciones y las vuelve aún más molestas).
    Pero, en definitiva, es un juego que me ha gustado. Tiene unos escenarios preciosos, una interesante propuesta, y, una vez que le coges el truco, una jugabilidad entretenida. No es el mejor juego que he probado, pero desde luego que no es el peor. Es algo que recomendaría probar antes de hacerse una opinión, ya que no creo que sea de gusto de todo el mundo ya que no tiene ni siquiera un nicho concreto de jugadores.
    Si el juego arreglase sus problemas, seguramente la nota subiría bastante, pero visto el resultado, y admitiendo que lo he disfrutado algo, le otorgo un 6/10.
