   I wanna start out by saying that I like KH and square and so on . I mean my top 3 games ever are squarenix games.

   So saying that it should be considered a sad and pained statement when I say that they **** up and they **** up bad. And I am not talking about the cloud streaming thing in particular. I was ready to have the cloud version and just play it on the couch or in my bed whilst relaxing....so ye I got the mega edition I clouding the whole KH series for the switch and was excited when it came out . Soon the day it came out I started it up and wanted to start by plaing KH birth by sleep the KH game that came out for the PSP which for those who don't know what it is a Sony handheld console that is by now quite old and way inferior to the Nintendo switch overall.
   So Yr I started it up and was ready to go only to be greeted by a big fat message telling em that my connection wasn't good enough to play so it may lag or be shut down. I though "ye OK my bedroom is kinda far away from the router and the WiFi on the switch isn't that great so lemme get closer' so I did just that and hey it worked and ran smoothly....for about 10 minutes which was the longest time of normal or proper gameplay I had since I got this game up to this point and I have 10 hours into it now most of which has been me gritting my teeth while my character reacted to movement inputs I did half a minute earlier and me lagging throughout the first 3 or 4 worlds because defeating the base mobs that spawn when running around can actually be achieved with a standard input delay of 5-7 seconds even if its not really fun to do it.
   And that has been 99%of my experience so far...its just not fun because its literally impossible to play the game when you have basically no control of your character and you get hit by stuff that's lagging past you so you don't even see it. Rn I am stuck at a boss because I can't hit him, dodge him or block him because he is gone when the input command goes through, I have been hit or defeated when my dodge command goes through and so on and its sadly not just with this chapter of the game. As I said I got the complete edition with the whole series and all of them are like this but I am writing it on this one because this is the one where I tried to actually play it the most and because its the entrance to the series. And I said I didn't mind the cloud thing at first but after camping right next to my router for hours just for an attempt to play through one of the starting worlds and it was still nearly impossible to play I have to say that a normal port for the earlier games of the series would have been a lot better 3specially considering considering that I didn't just waste my money on a expensive series of games that don't work, I wasted my money on an expensive series of games that don't work and will be impossible to give another chance once the servers are shut down some day.
   And what's a bit mind-boggling to me is that I had such trouble while trying to play a psp game most of the time....a freaking psp game. But I guess wanting to play a game on the switch that was originally on a way inferior Sony handheld console from ages ago is just asking too much after stuff like witcher 3 etc was made possible.
   Ok I think you get my point that you shouldn't waste money on this series for the switch because its not worth it. If you don't believe me fine go ahead and get it, maybe it has changed by the time someone reads this but it hasn't yet for me so here I am.
   Thanks for reading if you made it this far and excuse my rambling I was just (noticeably) upset because I was quite excited about this game series on the switch and this just made me sad. I may seem upset but I am just disappointed and sad. I will gladly redo any opinion of these games once it has actually changed but this is where it is atm and I actually made this account just to vent here a little because it had to be said it felt like xc.

   Runs terribly, even on a 400/800mbps connection (wired/wireless). No one should ever buy this game - don’t encourage Square Enix to keep churning out low effort, low quality garbage.… Expand

   I played the demos for these game both before and after the updates. Each time I ran into the same pixelation, input delay, and frame dropsI played the demos for these game both before and after the updates. Each time I ran into the same pixelation, input delay, and frame drops throughout even though I actually have great wifi (and nothing was connected at the times I played besides my switch). It was as if the “update” never happened. The only way you’re going to really enjoy playing these cloud versions is if you have a tethered connection to a GODLY network. The only place that seems to have consistently good reviews for the cloud versions is Japan since they have much better network connections there for cloud gaming. For starters the games are only available in certain parts of the world. Let’s say the cloud gaming worked absolutely fantastic and I saw no issues with cloud gaming on Switch. The games are still only available in Japan, America, Canada, and certain parts of Europe. Everyone outside of there just has tough luck. Which sucks since that alienates a good portion of their fanbase. There’s also the issue that you don’t actually OWN the games. The servers might be up for a while sure, but the second something happens to make them unusable or the moment they go down, that’s it. You can’t play them anymore. And if the service ends prematurely, that’s anything from $32 (if you buy the games now) to $80 (buying the full collection at full price) down the drain for whoever bought these games. Which sucks if you want to revisit these games on the Switch after the fact. You’re essentially paying for a RENTAL rather than paying for the game physically or digitally.
   
   There’s also the issue of the audience on Switch. A vast majority of owners for the Switch are children. Children who (usually) don’t have their own private gaming internet connection. Children who might not know what a cloud version even is. Square has kind of shot themselves in the foot here because since children are a majority of the Switch’s audience and the target audience of the system, they would’ve made a killing with native ports from them alone. I worked at GameStop for a long while and when Melody of Memory came out for Switch, kids were getting their parents to buy it (and parents were picking the game off the shelves for their kids) simply because Mickey Mouse as well as the Disney logo were on the cover. Unfortunately with the cloud versions, kids will probably have a hard time playing a majority of the time cause of those internet connectivity issues and might be under the false impression that they can take the games on the go like any other Switch game. Which brings me to another reason why having such a huge and beloved franchise on the Switch via cloud isn’t a good idea here: it defeats the entire purpose of it being on the Switch. When fans begged Square Enix for the past five years to put the Kingdom Hearts games on the Switch, we had hopes that it would finally be a way to take the games on the go the way we dreamed since Chain of Memories fist came to the Gameboy Advance. Instead, these cloud versions are about as portable as a WiiU gamepad; not very portable at all in the grand scheme of things, which goes completely against the entire point of the system.
   
   What also bothers me on a more personal note is Square Enix’s response to fan outcry. In response Square mentioned that native versions weren’t completely off the table and that they would listen to fan feedback. Since the demos released, fan outcry only grew stronger, and yet, Square has only continued to push forward with promoting the Cloud Versions. I realize changes in plans and official statements take time, but it definitely feels like that statement about listening to fan feedback was just an empty corporate promise to fans that have been following the series for the past 20 years.
   
   I can’t recommend these games at all. 1.5+2.5 are based on nearly 20-year-old games and could absolutely run natively on the switch. 2.8 is debatable and 3 will probably always be on cloud unless Square decides to get help from Panic Button since they seem to be able to port almost anything to the Switch. I understand that SE are up to their necks in projects between the next Kingdom Hearts installment as well as Forespoken and other projects, but if they’re going to put the Kingdom Hearts series on Switch and kick off the 20th ANNIVERSARY with that, then they should put in the effort that we know they could and port at LEAST 1.5+2.5 to switch. When games like Assassin’s Creed, Outer Worlds, Witcher, Skyrim and Doom are able to run natively on the Switch AND be put onto physical cartridges, I feel that the KH titles leading up to 0.2 have little to no excuse. If they’re going to charge ~$80 for the price of admission to the series on Switch, they need to make it worth while. Until they do that, these cloud ports are unfortunately objectively the WORST and second most expensive ways to play these games at the time.… Expand
