    For a smaller title, Kid Tripp is actually quite enjoyable. The game isn't exactly a thrill ride, but it is an enjoyable venture. The 20 levels are challenging and can be played on a whim, making them highly replayable. Kid Tripp looks nice as well. It doesn't stand out, but the grassy plains do their trick well enough. Above all, the title just feels nice to toy around with. It is why I will go back and better my runs a couple times down the line!

    Kid Tripp is a polished, simple little platformer that will put your skills to the test from the very beginning. It's a no-frills experience that's light on ceremony, giving you 20 levels of rapid gameplay that's perfect for short sessions and high-score chasing, but falls a little flat in terms of creativity and content. While it's undoubtedly a fun ride while it lasts, the whole game can be beaten in under an hour, so don't expect much in the way of post-game content or extreme replayability, unless you really want to dig into the nitty gritty of mastering each level. That being said, it's a solid budget title and one well worth looking into if you want a delightfully punishing dose of retro gameplay. It's a Tripp worth taking.

    Kid Tripp is a somewhat fun auto-runner game light on content but looks great and is priced generously. It has its frustrating moments, but there's certainly worse games lingering out there on the eShop.

There are just two main controls: shoot and jump, but jumping can be done to different heights. There's also a 'walk' button which I never used: who walks when you can run?!

    It's genuinely not easy to know if you should shoot an enemy or jump on its head — either course of action could have different side-effects. For example, you might shoot a snake, only to find out half a second later that you needed to be able to jump on it to clear a gap. So muscle memory and trial-and-error are key components of the gameplay.

    Another key challenge involves landing (on an enemy, a spring, etc.), then timing another jump just right, so as to jump higher. It's a tricky move to get perfectly right, but you'll need it a lot.

    There are only 20 levels, divided into 4 worlds, and whilst the first 2 worlds are rather easy, the difficulty ramps up from there, and the later levels are genuinely challenging. Each level is only about 20 seconds long, so you could complete the entire game in about 7 minutes, in theory. In practice, you'll almost certainly be playing several of these levels many tens of times over. Thankfully, you're given 10 lives, restarts are almost instantaneous, and continues are infinite.

    If you can get over the blocky graphics and the sense that you're playing a mobile game on a 'proper' console, Kid Tripp is an entertaining romp that is well worth the money. It might be an auto-runner, but that doesn't mean platforming skills aren't involved, and Kid Tripp gets platforming down pretty well. On sale, this is money well spent.    … Expand

    I bought this Kid Tripp title for the switch this past weekend. I knew it was an ''auto-runner'' which I personally do not like in general,I bought this Kid Tripp title for the switch this past weekend. I knew it was an ''auto-runner'' which I personally do not like in general, but for the price I though why now try it? I was a little bit surprised as I enjoyed it for the first 3 worlds. The fourth and last world is very hard and unforgiving. It is the type of game that it is a lot of luck at the end of the day in a sense which I do not appreciate. There were several times where I was like...mmm I am sure I pressed the button at the right time... I did It took me like 50 tries to complete the 4-3 level and after seeing the videos for the 2 last levels....I just quit as I do not have the patience for that type of difficulty. I could probably do it, but I prefer to spend my time on other games that I enjoy more. The 8-bits was ok, but a disadvantage at times as the graphics felt ''cramped''. The music is good and does not stop when you die unless you are game over. I personally did not like the controls and I believe it would have been easy for the developer to include the option to change them, but hey I don't know I am not one... It would have also been nice to be able to turn off the ''auto-runner''. It would have been a better game for me anyway. All things considered, it is a good effort and I still enjoyed it especially for the price!

    Update: I never quit a game because it is too hard and I decided to try again the following day in handheld mode during my lunch break and was able to pass the last 3 levels fairly easily... I don't know why, but it felt easier/better on the handheld mode. It took me 1 hour and 20 minutes to complete the game.    … Expand
