Groove Coaster’s stylish look can be frustrating and intrusive, but the underlying mechanics still make for one of the best rhythm games I’ve ever played. The excellent track list was already impressive, but the fine-tuned gameplay, inventive mechanics like ad-libs, and a mission-based structure of unlocks that keep you focused and coming back for more content make the game addicting and rewarding. I wish I could turn off the flashy backgrounds and weird camera angles, but even with that blemish this is still an easy choice for anyone who wants to get into a good groove.

Yet another fantastic rhythm game to add to the Switch's ever-growing repertoire. It may be a tad on the expensive side, but its core mechanics are rock solid, its minimalist visuals are a treat to behold and the fact it's got to much to play through and unlock means you'll be happily tapping your toes to this one for months.

I was like damn I need to sell a game to get me a quick £50. You need to be in to Asian style music to enjoy this game. Touhou and Hatsune Miku are both on there. If you don't like those, you likely won't like this game very much. I love Touhou music and soon got hooked on the demo. It is just good frantic fun. The design as a rhythm game just works. Expand

Easy to play with simplified controls and active controls with the Joy-Cons but hard to master with high difficulty that will challenge the dexterity of the players. With around 100+ songs in the base pack with variety of styles and genre ranging from Anime and Pop, Touhou Arrangements and Originals which can be expanded upon with DLCs. Inputs are very responsive and requires little to none modifications to play the game but the game also provided an intuitive calibration system to tune your game to your setup. With Online Update, you can now play in Ranked match with others via Nintendo Switch Online.

The downsides are the $60 price point for the amount of content that it offers and it's subsequent DLCs which are priced at $16 each. Granted each DLC contains 10 songs of a specific theme and tons of other cosmetics and content but most of these can be easily missed if the players are not paying attention on where the other contents were located.

A solid rhythm game experience with a fun and creative presentation. Lacklustre list of songs make this a middling value proposition.

If you do want original songs, there is the DLC but it's ridiculously expensive.

Another negative compared to other rhythm games with the same songs is the load times. This is the type of game that players want to quickly jump into for a 5 minute play but the full version takes ages to start up. I thought my console had frozen at first.

I wish I'd checked what songs were available before buying.
