Fire Emblem Warriors

Fire Emblem Warriors pays tribute to the most recent 3DS titles that helped the series take off in recent years. While it would have been more varied if they had included more than just a handful of characters from older entries, it still creates an enjoyable action packed spin-off for new and old Fire Emblem fans alike. Fire Emblem Warriors is an easy title to pick up and play at any time, regardless if just doing one mission or sitting down to grind for a full session. Whether a fan of the series or just looking for another title to play with friends, Fire Emblem Warriors makes for a great time with plenty of content to keep players coming back for more of its perfectly-captured action.

I am, of course, a hardcore Warriors fan. Everyone knows that. I play them all. Fire Emblem Warriors is, for my mind, the best of the licensed Warriors titles.

Fire Emblem and the musou genre are a match made in heaven. Dynasty Warriors and Fire Emblem are a great fit in strategic and action gameplay.

If you like the musou genre or the Fire Emblem franchise, give this a try. It isn't perfect, but it is addictive and very fun.

Fire Emblem Warriors is one of the best designed musou games in recent years thanks to its strategy touch, which is great for this genre. Even though its story is a little bit dull, the Chronicles mode offers lots of objectives and battles that last hours and hours.

Fire Emblem Warriors is a good title for all the fans of the musou genre, that takes advantage of the hardware it's been designed for. The roster could have been better and the storyline is nothing but ordinary, but the action is furious, with an unexpected strategic depth.

If you hate the musou games, Fire Emblem Warriors will hardly make you change your mind about the genre, but for everyone else it’s a strongly recommended game thanks to its tactical and strategic elements.

A wonderful fusion of Musou and Fire Emblem, fantastically balanced and with huge scope.

Hyrule Warriors may be one of my favourite games on the Wii U, and while I wasn’t as engaged in the characters and world of Fire Emblem Warriors, I loved every minute of the game both on N3DS and Switch. While the game is still fresh and will have several DLC and updates in the months to come, if you have any interest in a musou game, this is easily the best and smoothest on the Switch so far.

Fire Emblem Warriors is a very fun game marred by a only few issues, some of which were probably unavoidable. The basic hack-and-slash gameplay is as solid and polished as any Warriors game, and the new innovations based on the Fire Emblem series add a lot. The game honestly feels like Fire Emblem almost as much as it feels like a Warriors game. If you’re a classic Fire Emblem fan like me, don’t let the roster keep you from buying the game. If you like Dynasty Warriors but don’t know Fire Emblem, there’s still plenty to enjoy here.

Fire Emblem Warriors offers a great mix of the “warriors” gameplay and the interesting characters and beautiful art direction from the universe of the Fire Emblem series.

Fire Emblem Warriors is the near-perfect mix of two beloved franchises, taking the best of each to create one solid gaming experience on Nintendo's newest hardware.

The malleable quality of Fire Emblem’s weapons-triangle and pairing systems make them a natural fit for the hack n’ slash genre. Even when I could barely tell what was going on on the crowded battlefield and my troops were a little too codependent, I enjoyed directing the action and jumping in to be part of the carnage. And while Fire Emblem Warriors makes poor use of the Fire Emblem universe’s story and history, we still get traces of the relationships between the characters that make it memorable.

Fire Emblem Warriors is a pleasant hybrid of pure Musô action and tactics elements borrowed from the Intelligent Systems' series. It has a lot to offer to hack'n'slash fans and it feels like it should inspire future Dynasty Warriors games.

I have a soft spot in my heart for Warriors titles because after a long day of work it's fun to take out my various frustrations on thousands upon thousands of units. The fact that it's in a universe that I've become a huge fan of and that I can take it wherever I go is a huge plus. There's a few holes in the game that the season pass might alleviate somewhat, but the core package of Fire Emblem Warriors is still worth diving into.

Fire Emblem Warriors delivers with enjoyable gameplay that blends mechanics from both Fire Emblem and Warriors games into something unique and unlike anything else on the Nintendo Switch.

Warriors offers a lot of action for the Fire Emblem series, and Fire Emblem offers tactics for Warriors. This game makes you button bash a lot, which that can be very entertaining.

I’m impressed at how well Fire Emblem blends into the Warriors style.

Like its Hyrulean brethren, Fire Emblem Warriors is a joyous action packed romp through hordes of faceless enemies in the company of some well-loved characters and all the trappings of a Fire Emblem game. It’s not going to convince anyone who’s unsure about the well-worn Warriors template, and it’s far from being a technical showcase for the Switch, but it is raw, unadulterated fun packed with bags of fan service.

Fire Emblem Warriors has an incredible amount of depth and an awful lot of content to whittle away your spare time. It is let down slightly by its weak story and repetitive nature but there is still a lot of enjoyment to be had. Fans of the series will no doubt get a kick out seeing their beloved characters in a new way and, whilst it might be a little daunting for some, newcomers will be rewarded if they have the time and patience to soak up everything the game has to offer.

Fire Emblem Warriors has some good gameplay to prop the experience up, but the focus here is to play as your favorite Fates and Awakening characters in a new setting and genre. If you don’t know these characters or don’t like them, Fire Emblem Warriors will be more of a case of “what could have been” than what the game actually is. This is a title made for a certain fanbase, and those of that fanbase will undoubtedly enjoy what Koei Tecmo has on offer.

Far from being the braindead musou we have learned to expect and love, Fire Emblem Warriors is not just a Hyrule Warriors reskin either but a new, exciting take at the genre. The strategy elements work wonderfully and add layers of depth to a spin-off which captures the spirit of the Fire Emblem franchise surprisingly well.

Fire Emblem Warriors is surely the best musou to grace a console in recent years: the strategic elements taken from the Fire Emblem franchise deepen its gameplay, making it attractive even to non-musou fans.

Fire Emblem Warriors does a better job of blending two disparate series than Hyrule Warriors did. Fire Emblem’s ethos remains intact, perfectly accentuating, and enhancing Warrior’s’ patented hack-and-slash gameplay.

Fire Emblem Warriors may not convince gamers still unsold on the Warriors formula, but it’s sure to come pretty close after expertly implementing trademark mechanics of the renown Nintendo series. Add in local co-op multiplayer, nods to the source material’s permadeath option via Classic Mode, and even a History Mode that allows fans to replay key battles from the franchise’s past and it’s clear that developers Team Ninja and Omega Force were able to deliver some impeccable fan service to Fire Emblem fans.

Fire Emblem Warriors is superb. It successfully translates the beloved RPG series without sacrificing any elements for which I have adored the series. With countless characters, a robust upgrade system and plenty of modes on offer, you’ll sink hours into this stylish hack ‘n’ slasher without even knowing it.

Musou fans will love the fantasy setting and blade-based action, while Fire Emblem followers will appreciate the strategic wrinkles that series adds to proceedings. While the story is largely forgettable there's plenty of fan-service for Fire Emblem lovers here; granted, the cast list focuses on the more recent outings on the 3DS, but we imagine that DLC will redress the balance moving forward. Despite the addition of deeper tactics we fear that Fire Emblem Warriors may still be too samey for those who h ave struggled with Koei Tecmo's franchise in the past, but everyone else should definitely give this a try; it may well be one of the best Musou outings yet seen.

Fire Emblem Warriors moves the philosophy of the classic Nintendo franchise to an intensive action game. As a Musou, it is one of the best. As a spin-off of Fire Emblem, it also performs quite well.

Fire Emblem Warriors has enough content for at least twenty hours. When you have a knack for defeating as much enemies as possible, this is the ideal game. Although the game focuses mainly on fighting, it introduces some kind of strategy.

Fire Emblem Warriors does well in combining elements from the two series it combines. The story, although predictable, does an excellent job of incorporating the characters from the different titles and having them interact together. The game performs well both in docked and handheld modes, with strong voice acting throughout. While the game is on the easy side, the game has a lot of content to offer, and fans of the Fire Emblem series will feel that the developers have done the series justice with their take.

While it may have the Fire Emblem name in its title, the character roster leans a lot towards more recent entries of the franchise, and since the story lacks any significant depth, it is not for all Fire Emblem fans. However, the polished system does a good job at combining action and strategy elements, resulting in a game true to the Warriors series.

The inclusion of tactical elements like the orders for the teammates give this otherwise very conservative musou action an interesting twist.

An attempt to blend Fire Emblem with Dynasty Warriors might seem an odd idea. Where’s the common ground between a tactical RPG and an over-the-top slasher, right? It actually worked out pretty well, as the game managed to retain Fire Emblem’s atmosphere. If you’re a fan of the series and not allergic to Dynasty Warriors’ formula, give it a try. Fire Emblem Warriors is an exemplary marriage of two series. It’s recognizably Fire Emblem, unabashedly Warriors, and all in a way that fits together and feels perfectly complementary to each. Although the game’s storytelling and technical prowess fall short, there’s no denying that Fire Emblem Warriors is an energetic, familiar kind of fun.

Fire Emblem Warriors is a fun game held back largely by its adherence to the source material, which drags down several gameplay systems. It's still enjoyable, especially if you like Warriors games, but it could've been a lot more. The lack of diversity in the cast hurts it as a collection of fan favorites, and the overt similarities to Hyrule Warriors mean that it's easier to recommend Zelda over Fire Emblem unless you're a die-hard fan of the latter. If you can get past the nagging flaws, it's still one of the most solid Warriors titles on the market and a great Switch exclusive. It's always going to be in the shadow of Nintendo's other popular sword-swinging franchise.

Fire Emblem Warriors continues the excellent port of Nintendo’s franchises into the world of musou. The little additives from the franchise translate well into the genre. The art style is outstanding and the combat is just as fun (if not repetitive) as it has always been. This is another solid entry for Nintendo’s latest machine.

Fire Emblem Warriors is the scheduled consequence of Hyrule Warriors; a sword-friendly Nintendo treasure paired with Omega Force's quantitatively indisputable knack for mowing down thousands of bad guys in the pursuit of an even worse guy. Somehow, in spite of the presumed absence of inspiration, Fire Emblem Warriors remains engaging. It will always be fun to destroy perpetuating hoards with only a modest commitment from your mind.

Fire Emblem Warriors isn’t an amazing game, but is a successful and enjoyable merging of two franchises that naturally fit together.

Fire Emblem Warriors successfully taps into the series’ long history to create an entertaining mash-up of its most memorable characters. Despite some poor storytelling and extraneous systems, I can’t wait to return to the battlefield as my favorite characters to single-handily lay waste to entire armies and look incredibly stylish while doing it.

A very respectful combination between two series, but mainly destined to fans of musou and Fire Emblem.

Fire Emblem Warriors is a hit for the fans of Musö games as well as fans of the Fire Emblem IP with a joy-inspiring combat system. The only let downs are a crappy AI and some very weird storylines. A good beat'em all on Switch overall.

Fire Emblem Warriors is more than just a Warriors game with Fire Emblem personalities in place of classic Chinese historical figures. It manages to retain a distinct Fire Emblem flavour despite dishing out a style of action that is arguably the polar opposite of what Fire Emblem fans expect.

A nice entry for the musou games but not its deepest iteration, nor is as profound as any other Fire Emblem title.
