The quality of the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster on the Switch makes this a definitive way to play with the all-in-one convenience of what the console offers. And regardless of if you jump in now or at a price you like then you’re gonna have an awesome time with these games.

One of the most mythical role-playing games comes to Nintendo Switch in an outstanding port that gives us more than 300 hours of play thanks to Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster along with the addition of being able to use the touch screen.

Nothing new, but nothing wrong with this old but great classic RPG.

With two fantastic games in one package, this latest re-release of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster is very easy to recommend, with a few caveats. On Switch in particular, X-2 benefits from being suited to both long-play sessions on the TV and short bursts in handheld mode. Visually it looks very similar to the PS4 version, which is mostly great news, but it's upsetting to see the developers still haven't fixed character faces going from flat to high quality in cutscenes.

A great comeback for an amazing game: if you didn't manage to play Final Fantasy X back in the days, you definitely should play it now.

Final Fantasy X was a watershed moment for the storied franchise, rightfully gaining widespread acclaim while also ushering the series into the new generation, and while Final Fantasy X-2 hasn’t quite reached the same level of influence, it stands as a fantastic adventure in its own right with a level of quality that surpasses most of the competition in the Switch library. Having both of these incredible games in one package, with all the international content thrown in, and with prettied up graphics and audio makes picking up this release a no-brainer. Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster successfully does justice to these two RPG classics as it brings them to a new age of players; we can’t recommend it highly enough.

The touch screen options, the removal of PC's autosave feature and other adjustments, aside from playing it in gorgeous portable mode, make this Nintendo Switch version the best of all that have been released as a Remaster, and the most faithful to play the original versions, even if it had to make some sacrifices in the visual element.

With Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remastered, Square Enix unleashed a close-to-perfection remastered version, even if Final Fantasy X-2 has to be fully downloaded, which is a bummer.

It goes without saying that Final Fantasy X & X-2 HD Remaster is an incredible port of a pair of already incredible games. While both Final Fantasy X and X-2 have received numerous new releases over the past several years, it is apparent that the Nintendo Switch version holds up extremely well alongside the other available systems. If you’ve not already had the opportunity to give this series of games a try and are looking to dive into one of the essential Final Fantasy titles, or if you're seeking to rediscover Spira again, now is your chance.

Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster is a nice fit to the Switch’s library, but it adds nothing compared to previous editions of the HD Remaster that appeared on other platforms.

Final Fantasy X / X-2 is a classic title that is still in the hearts of many and with this HD Remaster, we not only get the 2 core games but also the short film, Eternal Calm, a 30-minute audio drama Final Fantasy X – Wish-, and Final Fantasy X-2’s Last Mission. With an incredible package of games and extra’s, playing through this JRPG epic will last you quite some time and the added bonus of being able to play it on the go or docked is simply fantastic. For those who haven’t checked out the games yet, be sure to pick this one up as it’ll be a great addition to your library.

Tidus and Yuna are back, and that’s always great news. This version doesn’t really offer anything new, but it’s always good to have available on new platforms, particularly on the versatile Switch.

Final Fantasy X | X-2 is both beautiful and bonkers, a beloved turning point for one of the greatest JRPG series in video games. Even with its notable shortcomings, it’s hard not to get swept up by its powerful emotions, while there’s plenty for the most ardent JRPG completionists to spend over 100 hours in Spira.

In a lot of ways, Final Fantasy X-2 could be considered the superior title to Final Fantasy X. The battle system has more variety, the tone is more upbeat and fun, but without the context of the events that occur in the first game, the story just won’t make a lot of sense. I definitely recommend exploring Spira during what should be the eternal calm, but not until after you’ve actually defeated Sin.

Overall it’s a very solid packaged. Both games are fantastic in their own way and still hold up. The feature upgrades available in Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy IX are nowhere to be found when they would have been most welcome. Considering the upcoming Final Fantasy XII remaster also contains these features makes this package stand out all the more. It is also a steep price point. Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster may include two full games, but charging $80 seems a little ridiculous. Despite this it still comes highly recommended. Maybe just wait for a sale first.

Both games still hold up well today, and, at the very least, Final Fantasy X alone can make this compilation worth the purchase, especially now it is portable on Nintendo Switch. Although this edition of Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster isn't as graphically impressive as other ports and is missing the PC boosters, it remains a highlight of the franchise and shouldn't go missed. Unskippable cut-scenes in this day and age is a huge negative, though!

The Switch version is definitely the best way to experience the game right now but it has a few issues that affect the release overall more than the port which is great.

Over 200 hours worth of high-quality content, playable at home or on the go, Final Fantasy X/X-2 Collection is a must-buy on the Switch. Those that have played before will happily greet old friends, while those that haven't explored Spira will find just as much to love.

Final Fantasy X-X2 HD Remaster is still a fantastic compilation of two incredible games and now it's available in portable format... recommended despite an above-average launch price.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster features two fantastic games with a heap of compelling content but is ultimately marred by questionable attempts to improve its presentation. The new soundtrack is good but fails to pay tribute to its predecessor, while the new character models look clean but lifeless. Despite these visual issues, it’s hard to deny that these games are some of the best Final Fantasy games and worth your time whether on Xbox or Switch.

Landing for the first time on a Nintendo hardware, these two episodes, especially the first one, are instant classics of the JRPG genre. This Switch version of the HD Remaster is quite clean, technically speaking, with high resolution textures and low loading time. Alas, the cartridge only includes Final Fantasy X (X-2 being available by downloading it), but it's not a reason to pass by these fantastic games.

The Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster collection is an incredible package, and it comes to the Switch with virtually the same quality and improvements as every other release before it. The lack of speed-up options for battles and no Japanese language audio is a huge blow, but regardless, the ability to have this massive collection of JRPG goodness on the go is a treat that far outweighs those missing features.

The Nintendo Switch edition is a great choice for anyone who is feeling nostalgic or hasn’t picked up the game before. The Switch’s visuals are on-par with the other remastered releases of Final Fantasy X/X-2, but with the added plus of custom controller binds and the Quick Recovery system.

Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster is still the timeless JRPG we all know and love, but the launch price and the lack of new content makes it hard to recommend this new version over the older ones.

This game will make you cry if you don't cry or feel emotional, then you're heartless! (Get it?) Time to review this...

    Final Fantasy X:
The story is simply fantastic and slightly complicated. You just need to know that it takes place in Spira and you're on a pilgrimage with a summoner and guardians, overcoming hardships and challenges to defeat the villain of the game, Sin. Especially the ending, the end will make you cry! The gameplay completely feels like a traditional JRPG turn-based combat, and instead of experience to level up, you have the sphere grid, which can increase your stats and learn new moves after you've gained some AP. The graphics look slightly better than the original PS2 graphics, although I prefer the original anyways. The music is very great, composed by Masashi Hamauzu, and Suteki Da Ne (which translates to "Isn't It Wonderful?") is a really beautiful song. The characters are quite memorable and the minigames are quite tedious themselves.

    Final Fantasy X-2:
Although some people say that the story is kinda bad or mediocre, I would say the story is really good! Despite the story being technically a downgrade from FFX, at least the story is simpler to understand than in FFX. It sucks that the game doesn't tell you that there are multiple endings (there are six), so you have to search up how to get the good ending. Well, the good ending is actually the normal ending but it added an emotional ending cutscene which might make you cry. The gameplay doesn't use the traditional game mechanics that FFX had, but they brought back the active battle system with additions to it! There's a new game mechanic called Dresspheres, which basically you change your character's classes. FFX-2 is now actually a mission-based game, but you have the freedom to explore anywhere in Spira. The visuals look very great in FFX-2, but I don't know if PS2 graphics are better though. There are many music pieces in FFX-2, a few are great lyrical songs, so the music is really great.

FFX Eternal Calm is a long cutscene that acts as a short prequel to FFX-2, basically not a game.

FFX-2 Last Mission isn't enjoyable because the gameplay is quite similar to Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, technically a ripoff. I only play it for around ten minutes or more, the gameplay feels hard to me and although not knowing the story, it feels kinda generic and highly linear.

FFX Will is a really long (cutscene) movie which is basically incomprehensible or what I've heard from critics. I don't know what FFX Will is about but it's definitely recommended to NOT watch it at all if you don't want your experience of FFX and FFX-2 to be absolutely ruined. It's THAT bad!

Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster is a great remaster itself while the new story additions were mediocre. Final Fantasy X was my first Final Fantasy game while X-2 is my second, I guess it's recommended to JUST playing ONLY X and X-2. It was really nice to cry at a video game again, the experience was unforgettable and beautiful. I'm truly blessed to play Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2, Final Fantasy X is truly one of the best JRPGs I've ever played. Now, the score is... 9.6! (10)
