I was a big fan of fear effect on the ps1 but this version is a mis-step imho. The change from third person to isometric makes no sense and the mechanic involved in pausing the game to send issue characters commands (like in xcom) is completely redundant. The game is quite unbalanced as well, I breezed through the game before getting stuck on the first boss.

il gioco non è malaccio, ottimi intermezzi animati, la giusta dose di esplorazione ed un medio livello di complessità con puzzle game

Critical reviews have missed the point. Fans of cult classic Fear Effect are happy, and that’s what counts the most, right? Sedna is an indie revival of a dormant IP, and it’s bound to come with some inherent development limitations, and yet Sushee has managed to craft an original, ambitious, and wholly satisfying experience in a timely fashion. Sedna is an indie revival of a dormant IP, and it’s bound to come with some inherent development limitations, and yet Sushee has managed to craft an original, ambitious, and wholly satisfying experience in a timely fashion. That’s far more than most indie studios have accomplished, especially following unrealistically lofty crowdfunding campaigns. Sushee has preserved the aesthetics and character personalities that made us love the original Fear Effect games on PlayStation. There’s a change in gameplay perspective not unlike another cyberpunk classic Shadowrun, and while quite different from the originals, it suits the series perfectly. Combat is a bit clunky at times, especially when trying to use stealth, but puzzles are as clever and fun as they are challenging. I especially love the death cutscenes, which make repeated failures a welcome learning experience instead of a source of frustration. The game shines brightest on Switch in my opinion, but PS4 is solid too. Frankly, I’ve enjoyed Fear Effect Sedna far more than the sum of its parts and more than I expected even after I backed the campaign. That’s in no small part due to nostalgia, but Sushee still deserves the credit for managing to capture that feeling almost 2 decades later. Expand

The one mechanic that I didn't really ever use was the pause to control multiple characters and tell them what to do and then unpause to watch them do what I told them to do. It was presented like the combat in fallout 3 but in reality it was nothing like that at all and you are much better off just letting the AI control the other characters at all times.

This story made no sense to me either. I'll leave it at that I don't want to get into spoilers. If you are looking for an rpg I wouldn't suggest this game.

Great overall game and premise which captures the unique character and charm of the original series. I must admit even as somebody who had completed both of the first games, this game did at first appear to be quite difficult to grasp in terms of gameplay mechanics and direction, however, after a bit of getting used to the controls and general gameplay elements it does all appear to run smoothly and come together nicely. Fear effect is a series known for high difficulty scenarios which leave you at times with minimal time to figure out what to do before meeting the game-over screen with a unique and at times shocking but creative death scene to follow you. Fortunately, you can jump straight back in where you left off and keep attempting to get past those tricky but not impossible puzzles. Some of the puzzles require good observational skills by scanning the environments almost piece by piece until figuring out a solution, which is very similar to the original game series. I can understand how to some this could be very frustrating, but I believe this games biggest flaw is perhaps being a victim of it's own gameplay difficulty, especially for newcomers of this series. Whereas the originals had more of the eye candy to give people the wow factor to try and push on, I feel that this game whilst unique in style and design does not have that same visual awe to keep people invested to explore the rest of the game, and sadly this is where I feel this game probably loses out in terms of draw factor to get those new players discovering this series and trying it out for themselves. I love the game art and design and whilst minimalist it is very uniquely crafted and works well especially when controlling multiple characters and exploring the levels for puzzles. Overall it is a 9/10 but you need to go into this game expecting the gameplay style and old school difficulty. Expand

Fear Effect Sedna marks the return of a well-regarded series from the early days of the 21st century. Featuring enjoyable animation cut scenes and a quality soundtrack, this Nintendo Switch version ends up losing to its counterparts when played in handheld mode, as many of the details become too small to be visible on the screen. Also the game's plot does not attempt to make a bridge to new players, who won't feel a connection with the game's story and its strategic component is less interesting than expected.

Fear Effect Sedna by far is the worst game that we put our hands on this year. It is not possible to highlight a positive point, either in the technical aspects like graphics, sound, gameplay, or artistic aspects such as style or history. Of course, the effect of this game on the players is ghastly.

It is a sloppy mess that gets off on the wrong foot, only to shoot itself in the foot right after. It is a weird hodgepodge of body horror, cyberpunk sleaze, and secret agent shenanigans that, in theory, should work, but don't.
