    While I will not go into gameplay, DOOM Eternal is simply one of the best first-person shooters on the Nintendo Switch. Succeeding a great port of DOOM 2016, Panic Button has again delivered a fantastic port I never thought the Switch could ever show. The graphics take a noticeable hit, but the game is very stable, and personally, it's my vote for Game of the Year 2020.

Yes the graphics and effects take a necessary hit, and you are playing at 30fps, but make no mistake, this IS Doom Eternal, the full experience, on a little tablet released back in 2016 with a 1.02 GHZ CPU. The game runs at a remarkably stable 30FPS, with very quick loadPanic Button absolutely crushes it out of the park with this remarkable and unfathomable port of Doom Eternal on Switch. Yes the graphics and effects take a necessary hit, and you are playing at 30fps, but make no mistake, this IS Doom Eternal, the full experience, on a little tablet released back in 2016 with a 1.02 GHZ CPU. The game runs at a remarkably stable 30FPS, with very quick load times, responsive gameplay aided by some nifty gyro-controls, and despite the downgrade in graphics, when played in handheld as you dash, meathook, rocket launch and power punch your way through this masterpiece you will feel you are playing the exact same game that is a benchmark for the latest gen consoles and PCs. The fact you can get pretty much the same experience on Switch is nothing short of arcane wizardry, and if you have any interest in Doom or shooters in general, then this is a must buy. I have heard many won't buy because of the lack of physical release, but despite this curious decision by Panic Button (the game is a lean 18GBs and could easily fit on cartridge), these guys still deserve your support because this port must have taken an insane level of dedication and talent to release in the quality state that it did, and in an era where big triple A studios continuously insult fans with half-assed releases filled to the brim with microtransactions and released in a broken state, this type of effort is worthy of the highest recommendation and support.… Expand

    Awesome game. Don’t hesitate to buy this if you haven’t played Doom Eternal. The graphics are slightly worse on Switch in this port, but everything else is flawless. Don’t listen to the Switch haters. Only docked 1 point because if you own a second console in addition to the Switch the graphics are a little bit better on it. Everything else is the same or better on Switch, including theAwesome game. Don’t hesitate to buy this if you haven’t played Doom Eternal.     Honestly, Doom Eternal on the Nintendo Switch is incredible, panic button really put so much work into this one it just shows that the switch is powerful enough to run these games.

    Awesome port by Panic Button! This one seems way more challenging than the 2017 Doom port and the added platforming sections change things up a lite from the last Doom games. Highly recommended!

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game proves how powerful the nintendo switch really is. Motion blur is missing when you bring up the weapon wheel. The graphics are beyond amazing on the nintendo switch. The parity between this and the ps4/xbox1 versions is 98.7%. Panic button showed the world how powerful the NINTENDO SWITCH Really is! I am amazed with the performance and quality of this game. 10/10!… Expand

    It's incredible, play Doom Eternal on the go, it's not about graphics, people who work outside like me dont give a %*&# about graphics and textures, we can play and that's all we need.

One of the best current shooters if not THE best. runs perfect on a switch, yet 2K cant put gyro on bioshock or put borderlands on a bigger cart so when we buy it physical we still need 20gig download.

    As someone who has this on Xbox One S, this game comparatively runs horrible on the Switch. Though in the sense of the Switch even being able to run it, it's fantastic, in a way - impressive that they were able to get this game running in it's entirety on Switch. I've probably been spoiled by playing this off of a more powerful console (and off of a slower, bargain 5200 RPM external HDD atAs someone who has this on Xbox One S, this game comparatively runs horrible on the Switch. Though in the sense of the Switch even being able to run it, it's fantastic, in a way - impressive that they were able to get this game running in it's entirety on Switch. I've probably been spoiled by playing this off of a more powerful console (and off of a slower, bargain 5200 RPM external HDD at that), but the experience is noticably different in frame rate, though as a lifelong console gamer, I can appreciate the effort that went into the mostly steady 30 FPS; which is understandable as the Switch is obviously somewhat of a lightweight for AAA third party games. If you've only ever played this on Switch, or only have a Switch and are looking forward to playing it, I'm sure it'll a delight for you. 9 for the incredible effort made for this port. This game sets the standard of how third party AAA should be done on Switch.

    Side note: I encountered a glaring fault when trying to play for the first time, the game would not let me log into my existing Bethesda.net account at all (I'm logged into a bunch of other Bethesda titles, maybe I reached a limit? I don't know?). After an hour and a half of Googling and Binging and checking Bethesda's website, I saw no other option but to have to create an entirely new Bethesda.net account to simply log in and play. Stupidly inconvenient and it appears that once logged in to DE on Switch, you can't log out and back into your other account.    … Expand

    I am here to debunk moronic claims that enemies can only be killed with 1 tactic or way in this game. Its obvious this people never bothered to experiment, think, and just assumed that the optional combat suggestions which can disabled in the menus are the only tactics in the game. Hell Guards Boss Fight had shields/projectile blocking moves and Spider Mastermind guns did very little damage unless you targeted the brain. The Khan Maykr point is makes zero sense. They are weak to every gun in the game. The previous game bosses required you to glory them to move onto next boss phase.

    DOOM Hunter can be killed in many different ways. Yes his upper body armor shields are weak to plasma rifle but you don't have to use plasma rifle. Their sled is weak to every gun in the game, grenades, freeze grenades and blood punch.

    Gladiator - Gladiator boss fight is a mix of Hell Guards/Cyberdemon. You can go around his shield by dashing/meathook. If you do want to parry them you can damage multiple by not going for the melee attack and just blast bullets onto them. His second phase has no shield apart from the deflecting move and he you can use any gun want on them.

    Marauders - They can be damaged by sticky grenades and rockets behind their shields. You can also BFG them but they need to stunned first and you have to switch to BFG quickly.

    Cacodemons - can be quickly killed by 1 lock-on rocket blast, chaingun mobile turret kills them in 3 seconds, ballista than meathook shotgun, 1 charged Arbalest ballista shot and 1 destroyer blade shot.

    Shield guys - are weak rockets behind shield, combat shotgun sticky nades behind shield, freeze nades, regular grenades, 1 chainsaw fuel, meathook stuns them to drop shield and 1 destroyer blade shot.

    Arachnotrons - can be killed quickly without targeting the weakpoint. 2 close range supershotgun blasts kill them, 1 lock-on rocket blast puts them in glory kill state, a drop grenade and use Autoshotgun mod, a freeze grenade and use Autoshotgun mod, mobile turret to the body kills them in seconds, micromissles to the body etc..    … Expand

    Holy Panic Button out did thereselves with this port. The game manages to run at a stable 30 fps throughout the whole game, the only major drops in frames are in cutscenes, dropping to around 25-20 frames. The gameplay is the same as other platforms with fast paced combat. The motion controls too are super good. This port is super great overall, would recommend to others.

    Magnificent port from Panic Button once again. The gameplay is very smooth even at 30 fps and the gyro aiming feels so good both handheld mode and docked. I would give it a 9 but the software closed for me a couple of times while i was in the middle of a level, other than that this is an excellent game.     The game's mechanics are fascinating and put your reasoning and exploration skills to the test. The graphics are top notch and it's really well made though I did have two CTDs. Other than that, I didn't have any other technical issues of any importance. It was entertaining, fun to play and the story was good enough that it held my interest to the end.     I have no idea how they managed to port this game to the Switch, but whoever they got to do it all need several raises. Yes, the graphics aren't as good as they are on other systems. It doesn't matter. The whole game experience is on a handheld system.

    I have no idea how Panic Button managed to cram one of the most spectacular action games into Nintendo Switch. It’s an amazing achievement, but of course it came with a price – the game runs smoothly enough at 30 fps, but looks ugly, and playing it with the Joy-Cons is a nightmare. I highly recommend using the Pro Controller, or better still, experiencing this terrific shooter on another platform. [02/2021, p.54]

    Doom Eternal is decent on the Switch and is a great game overall even with its issues. If you must play this game on the Switch, then be aware of what you are getting. If you can get it on another platform, I suggest you do that.
