I enjoy difficult games like Hollow Knight and Cuphead but if a game is going to be hard it has to be enjoyable enough to keep coming back for another try.

The enemies in this game are like bullet sponges and have to be hit so many times before they go down. The areas look samey and with no map it is easy to get lost. On reading the reviews, I thought this game would be ideal for me but

Love Soulsborne and Zelda but this ain't it. Going to try to keep it brief. The controls aren't tight. The dodging feels inconsistent in terms of input response. The level design is looping (like Souls games you open gates to earlier areas, etc.) but feels really repetitive, you don't get that 'aha!' feeling when it loops back. Next, enemies all feel the same and uninteresting. You see aLove Soulsborne and Zelda but this ain't it. Going to try to keep it brief. The controls aren't tight. The bosses are passable and probably the most decent part part of the gameplay but not enough to carry the whole game.
Lastly, the music is good, probably the best part, has nice Hollow Night style calm and sad ambiance. Too be honest I don't know how this game has so many positive reviews. This game is mid at best, boring Zelda/Souls imitiation at worst. Just wanted to post my review because I'm seeing some glowing reviews from some big review platforms and as a fan of these type of games, these excellent reviews are just not that accurate for this game.

The game is alright. It’s beautiful but stutters on switch. It’s also very grindy. The exploration is fun but limited. It feels like a $5 game. If you pay more than this, you’re paying too much. Update: the longer I play this game the more I dislike it

The cimbat in the game is not too bad and challanging in a good way. But do you know what's challanging in a bad way? F***ing waking!
I would prefer fightung 10 enemies more than having to walk over a tiny bridge. It's sooo baaaaad. It just get on my nerves. Last seasion I had just made me wanna not finish this game...

    All in all, Death's Door is itself quite a Shiny Thing. [Issue #58 – March/April 2022, p. 19]

Death's Door tightly packs a challenging action-adventure into some of the more enjoyable ten hours of 2021. It's a game deserving of the hype and spots on game of the year lists. Unfortunately, there aren't any difficulty options to help make the game more accessible. While it is a challenging game, it's a challenge that you feel you can overcome as you unravel what is going on in the department.

Death’s Door feeds a nostalgia for Zelda-like adventures while sprucing up nearly every aspect. Graphics, sound, and—not least—combat mechanics are polished to near perfection. Despite some very minor flaws, the final experience is an extremely rewarding challenge.
