Just like a terrible movie you can’t stop laughing at, Deadly Premonition is entertaining in all the ways it was not intended to be. Most of its elements are poor, but the culmination of all those terrible elements makes for a surprisingly entertaining experience.

Deadly Premontion Origins is a cult classic that keeps being as shocking as it is surprising, a unique survival horror that you'll love or hate. We're from the first group, and still amazes us how crazy and strange it is, if you can forgive its technical flaws (looks like a PS2 game). Switch's port is far from perfect, but now you can enjoy it anywhere.

The general clunkiness of the controls is honestly kind of disappointing to re-experience so many years later, but just as was the case all those years ago, DPO is still a heck of a fun time that out does itself in as far as the overall experience is better than the sum of the parts. That’s a cliche maybe, but it so fittingly applies here I can’t help but call upon it. Bottomline, if your only console option right now is a Switch, you can’t go wrong with DPO, just as long as you go in expecting a dated, but nonetheless very much worthwhile, experience. Otherwise, I’d highly recommend playing the Director’s Cut release from 2013 on the PS3.

Deadly Premonition Origins is chock-full of major issues that in any other series would be reason enough to be cautious of its upcoming sequel. Despite this, the characters and the world of Greenvale are more than enough to make you forgive its fundamental technical flaws, as you can’t help but fall for an absurdly fun narrative and a protagonist that keeps you invested throughout. You may play the game and utterly hate it, but we'd advise you at least give it a chance. It's such a strange and captivating experience that we wager many of you will become lifelong fans regardless of its myriad problems.

This is an experience that’s clunky to play, messy in its execution at times and visually ugly and dated however in spite of all this I’ve found my time with Deadly Premonitions Origins to be enjoyable. Like a questionably acted B-movie you learn to love its eye-rolling moments and start to embrace its flaws. Is Deadly Premonition Origins a good game? After 20 hours I’m not sure I even know for myself. What I do know is, I had a great time with Francis York Morgan and cannot wait to join forces once again in next year’s sequel.

Deadly Premonition arrives on Switch with a version that keeps all the positive and negative things. An amazing and unique adventure that’s still outshines its outdated gameplay and horrible performance.

Deadly Premonition Origins looks bad on the switch, and there are various issues including poor frame rate and awful driving controls, but its just as bizarre as it ever was.

Sure its really old by 2019 standards and the graphics and controlls will you give the most headaches but if you want to get prepared for Deadly Premonition 2 in 2020, you should play this game on the Switch for sure. Just dont expect something that comes close to a AAA survival horror game. Thats just not the case. But if you enjoy weirdness, you are in for a really good time for sure

It runs way better than the Director's cut PC/PS3 version and looks better than the original Xbox release. UPDATE: they fixed the audio with a patch.

If you are lookingUp until now, the xbox 360 version of the game was the only port that wasn't so broken it turned the game annoying to play. If you are looking for a modern option to play this classic and have been waiting forever for a stable port like me, the Origins edition is the one to go for. This game is one wacky experience and is definitely not for everyone, but if it is, it's one of the most memorable games you'll ever play. The stunning soundtrack, the bizarre yet clever humor, the characters and the surprisingly deep story which never stopped surprising me made the game everything i ever wanted. If i could rate the game on the story experience alone, it would be a 10/10 from my preference, but the reason i'm not is because the game does seriously have some underlying issues. The gameplay in itself can feel sometimes dull. Long driving sequences, extensive and repetitive action sequences, and the gun mechanics . And don't get me wrong, the gameplay sequences do get exciting sometimes too, but more often than otherwise it's unfortunately not. Not to mention the awful GPS system, map impossible to zoom out with and terrible weapon menu system. But all in all, if you're willing to look past these issues they become mere trifles once you're in the groove of the game. If you're in for a story unlike anything else, and are willing to look past the gameplay issues, this is definitely a game worth looking in to. I seriously hope more people are willing to give this game a try Expand

For those giving it a try you'll play as the FBI Agent Francis York Morgan and arrive in the small town Greenvale, Washington to investigate the murder of the 18 year old Anna Graham. Due to the almost ritualistic manner in which the killing happened (red seeds were found on and around the body) the case seems to be linked with several other murders across the States. As the story progresses a series of killings unfold and it is clear that the culprit has to be one of the townsfolk. In his investigation York is assisted by the local sheriff George Woodman and the deputy sheriff Emily Wyatt.
I'd highly recommend giving the game a try as the unfolding story is quite fascinating, especially at the late stages of the game.

It nails Atmosphere and your sense of place in this creepy small town , excellently. And that is no small feet as we have seen many other games fail completely to do atmosphere from this time, like every American Silent Hill game released.
Deadly Premonition is full of interesting people and their stories and the ability to drive around and explore the town is a really interesting thing. There many side missions and mini games to discover while you chip away at the main plot and everything in this game is weird, weird in a good way.

Unfortunately for everything that is good about this game there is something very very bad. the framerate slides between 5 and 55 FPS, there is constant jank. Sometimes the audio cuts out, sometimes the music and background noises play so loud you can't hear the characters, sometimes the sound crashes the game, sometimes the game just crashes. Ive had saves disappear, ive had freezes, ive seen more bugs and stability issues in this game than Fall Out 76, I wont even start with pop in and vanishing assets .. So!! much as I like the good parts of this game there's no way it deserves a high score , when the fundamentals of game creation has been failed so hard here.
