    FANTASTIC! Amazing. Needs to be experienced. No words can make this game justice. It's a masterpiece in terms of dialouge, story and performances. It's an enjoyable ride through the whole game.

    I finished the game for the first time on the Switch after playing the Director's Cut for a little bit and I can solidly say that this is the best version of the game available on modern hardware. Apparently the Xbox 360 version is the smoothest-running, but I'd imagine that could be a little hard to come by. The game is bad - let's just get that out of the way.    [SPOILER FREE REVIEW]

    I finished the game for the first time on the Switch after playing the Director's Cut for a little bit and I can solidly say that this is the best version of the game available on modern hardware. Apparently the Xbox 360 version is the smoothest-running, but I'd imagine that could be a little hard to come by.

    The game is bad - let's just get that out of the way. It feels like a very good game in a bad game's skin. The characters are interesting enough, the atmosphere of the game (especially in the beginning chapters) is great, the main character is charming and likeable with all his aloof naivety about the countryside, and the story supplies just enough mystery to keep you interested, and by the time that mystery is gone, the most insane **** you've ever seen is thrown at you and you're just along for the ride.

    The Otherworld segments are... goddamn awful. And there are so many of them. They're easily the worst part of this game, and they have none of the "so bad its good" charm that many of the other parts of the game have. Every time you hit a significant plot beat, there's an Otherworld segment. It's hardly explained what the hell it is until the very end. In reality, it's a way to extend the length of the game by adding in zombie segments that control so badly that I bought another controller with mappable buttons on the back just so I could play them less painfully.

    Another thing people hate is the driving, and I have to say that I rather enjoyed it. Sure, it controls awfully as well, and the world is confusing and way too big, but it was just kinda fun to zoom around, especially when I got York's car back.

    Now, the bits of the game that have influenced the legacy of Deadly Premonition? The dialogue, the audio mixing, the aspects that are a shameless ripoff of Twin Peaks? It's all great. I had such a great time laughing my way through the quirkiness of it all. The moment I witnessed the scene near the start with York and Polly yelling across the table, I understood - this game is a masterpiece in confusing you in what is intentional and what is unintentional.

    Deadly Premonition is an absolutely wild ride, and despite the fact that I said "good riddance" when I finished it, I'm so glad that I did play it. It's not a game - it's an experience.    … Expand

    Love it, is kind of a game not for everyone, the graphics are bad, the sound effects are really bad, but the characters, atmosphere, story are great. Not a 10 but definitively an 8 is well deserved.

    a masterpiece that is difficult to explain, better left to be played blind, i would give it a perfect 10 if it wasn't because it STILL has technical issues, is a 10 year port, seriously couldn't fix the framedrops? (not that it ruins the game), it's not difficult but it does not need to be, because the main selling point of the game is its characters and story and embracing the weirdness of it all

    Impossible to describe in words and better experienced when played - this was the first time I played Deadly Premonition, which despite the technical shortcomings (which are indeed a lot), remains an incredibly compelling video-game, mostly due an inexplicable charm, amazing characters and story (especially if you're a Twin Peaks fan) and the sheer ambition of the game design.     It runs way better than the Director's cut PC/PS3 version and looks better than the original Xbox release. UPDATE: they fixed the audio with a patch.

    I love me a weird video game and this one is the definition of weirdness. The comparission to Twin Peaks is REALLY fitting.
    Sure its really old by 2019 standards and the graphics and controlls will you give the most headaches but if you want to get prepared for Deadly Premonition 2 in 2020, you should play this game on the Switch for sure.     Up until now, the xbox 360 version of the game was the only port that wasn't so broken it turned the game annoying to play. If you are looking for a modern option to play this classic and have been waiting forever for a stable port like me, the Origins edition is the one to go for. The stunning soundtrack, the bizarre yet clever humor, the characters and the surprisingly deep story which never stopped surprising me made the game everything i ever wanted. If i could rate the game on the story experience alone, it would be a 10/10 from my preference, but the reason i'm not is because the game does seriously have some underlying issues. The gameplay in itself can feel sometimes dull. Long driving sequences, extensive and repetitive action sequences, and the gun mechanics . And don't get me wrong, the gameplay sequences do get exciting sometimes too, but more often than otherwise it's unfortunately not. Not to mention the awful GPS system, map impossible to zoom out with and terrible weapon menu system. But all in all, if you're willing to look past these issues they become mere trifles once you're in the groove of the game. If you're in for a story unlike anything else, and are willing to look past the gameplay issues, this is definitely a game worth looking in to. I seriously hope more people are willing to give this game a try… Expand

    And yes! - some of the things are cliché, and border on the ridiculously silly. But - the game is amazing.     When I saw the game, I was really happy that this game is finally here. The ideas of the game I find so class. It's kind of real, I think. the game is graphically not good. but playfully it is really a great game. It's really cool to study the little secrets of the inhabitants. I give 10/10 stars for the game. because everyone should play this masterpiece.

You'll know this game is for you if you value things like immersion, good writing, and quirky world building. Stay away if you can't stomach sub par frame rate, bad gunplay, or other things indicative of a general lack of polish.     The game is bizarre, entertaining, subversive, and wholly unique. The characters, setting, and plot are all engaging and it just... all works. Even the numerous amounts of jankiness and dated feel of the game somehow feel additive to the overall experience, not subtractive.

    I was frustrated, delighted, disgusted, excited, elated, bored, and impressed by the whole thing. And the stories wild ride, all the way to the end, was absolutely worth seeing through. The Switch port, I believe, is basically the PC port with some fixes? I’m not sure. All I know is, I never once experienced a single crash or game breaking bug. There was frame rate drops, weird sound mixing, slow down, etc — but nothing that really took away from the experience. To me, this is an absolutely solid port and the convenience of playing it on a portable console (with quick sleep functionality) is worth perhaps playing a version inferior to the Xbox 360 counterpart.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. un juegos odiado por muchos y amado por otros, graficos mediocres, control duro, pero cuando juegas te das cuenta que estas ante la mejor historia de la pasada generación, te das cuenta que realmente estas ante uno de esos juegos que ya no se ven. perdonando los defectos graficos y el control (que es bastante malo) te das cuenta que estas ante un juegazo, una obra de culto,un juego que todo el mundo debia probar.
    Ahora en switch se nos brinda la oportunidad de jugar un juego muy dificil de conseguir en sistemas anteriores, poder jugarlo en portatil y descubrir esta obra de culto que el dia que salio no tuvo el reconocimiento merecido solo por su apartado tecnico y jugable.
    Pero como se suele decir sobre todo en switch, que importan los graficos si estamos ante un gran juego?    … Expand

Le pondría la misma nota que a su versión de Xbox 360, pero el paso del tiempo le hace sostener un poco menos sus virtudesDe las mejores experiencias que he tenido con un videojuego, posiblemente Deadly Premonition sea uno de los títulos más feos y toscos de los últimos años, pero eso no ensucia para nada sus otras virtudes en las que supera a cualquier otro tipo de propuesta similar. Le pondría la misma nota que a su versión de Xbox 360, pero el paso del tiempo le hace sostener un poco menos sus virtudes ante tantos defectos, creo que habría sido una buena oportunidad tocarlo aprovechando su relanzamiento en Nintendo Switch. Por suerte, la experiencia sigue siendo placentera para los fans del original que quieran rejugarlo en la máquina o aquellos que quieran acercarse ahora a él, ya que en modo portátil es un auténtico lujazo y hace que todo luzca mucho mejor aparte de que se llevan más aceptablemente sus carencias visuales. Diría que, pese al paso del tiempo, es la mejor versión que tenemos del primer Deadly Premonition hasta la fecha.

    La trama argumental y los personajes, son su punto fuerte, no solo es el mejor homenaje que hemos visto a Twin Peaks en esta industria sino que tiene una personalidad propia que explota por los aires en la segunda mitad de nuestro paso por Greenvale. El protagonista Francis York Morgan es historia pura de los videojuegos para todo aquel que haya terminado Deadly Premonition, con una complejidad potenciada por las múltiples referencias al agente Cooper de la serie de David Lynch, pero que Swery65 ha sabido dotarle de capas que no dejan indiferente a nadie.

    En el resto de los apartados, audiovisualmente es desastroso, solo se salva la banda sonora ya que en todo lo demás era terrible en su día y lo es todavía más ahora. La cosa no mejora en su jugabilidad, que es tosca y arcaica, heredada de un Resident Evil 4 sin presupuesto y que pese a todo consigue ofrecer un mundo vivo dentro de su planteamiento de mundo abierto. En todo esto va a ser un videojuego que seguramente tire para atrás al 80% que lo prueben, requiere de paciencia y forzarse a uno mismo hasta que la trama arranca, que no tardará mucho y una vez estemos dentro no podremos soltarlo hasta saber el misterio que aguarda tras el pueblo y sus horribles crímenes.    … Expand

For those giving it a try you'll play as the FBI Agent Francis York Morgan and arrive in the small town Greenvale, Washington to investigate the murder of the 18 year old Anna Graham. Due to the almost ritualistic manner inThere are a lot of technical issues, not as many as in the second part but still a noticeable amount, so if you can't deal with that stay away from this Switch Port. For those giving it a try you'll play as the FBI Agent Francis York Morgan and arrive in the small town Greenvale, Washington to investigate the murder of the 18 year old Anna Graham. Due to the almost ritualistic manner in which the killing happened (red seeds were found on and around the body) the case seems to be linked with several other murders across the States. As the story progresses a series of killings unfold and it is clear that the culprit has to be one of the townsfolk. In his investigation York is assisted by the local sheriff George Woodman and the deputy sheriff Emily Wyatt.
    I'd highly recommend giving the game a try as the unfolding story is quite fascinating, especially at the late stages of the game.    … Expand

    Every technical issue is worth the hassle, because no other game offers a world as alive or as charming with as much conceptual depth. Deadly Premonition is nothing short of brilliant.

    Just like a terrible movie you can’t stop laughing at, Deadly Premonition is entertaining in all the ways it was not intended to be. Most of its elements are poor, but the culmination of all those terrible elements makes for a surprisingly entertaining experience.

    The general clunkiness of the controls is honestly kind of disappointing to re-experience so many years later, but just as was the case all those years ago, DPO is still a heck of a fun time that out does itself in as far as the overall experience is better than the sum of the parts. That’s a cliche maybe, but it so fittingly applies here I can’t help but call upon it. Bottomline, if your only console option right now is a Switch, you can’t go wrong with DPO, just as long as you go in expecting a dated, but nonetheless very much worthwhile, experience. Otherwise, I’d highly recommend playing the Director’s Cut release from 2013 on the PS3.
