The roar of the Apocalypse has remained the same as always: fascinating, epic and roaring.

9 years after its initial release, Darksiders is a still a good pick on Nintendo Switch, that can entertain you with its good ideas and very pleasant artistic direction.

The remastered version of Darksiders for Nintendo Switch is a journey to the end of the world, and at the same time a journey back to what we already experienced in the series, and expected that some of them would improve. The gameplay is exactly the same as before, with all the pros and cons, and even the visuals are not worthy of a remastered title. All in all, the remastered version of Darksiders is nothing more than a simple port for the Switch platform.

Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is a faithful port of the original that brings every slash of Chaoseaster and every bloody execution to Nintendo Switch in all its glory. While still the inferior entry in the Darksiders trilogy, this first outing is still a robust action-platformer full of satisfying melee combos, open-ended levels and a suitably over-the-top story. Easily one of the most underrated franchises to appear in the previous generation, Darksiders is a solid port that finally unleashes the Apocalypse in handheld form.

Darksiders Warmastered Edition marks the return of the Darksiders series and its arrival on the Nintendo Switch after landing in other platforms. It's true that it doesn't bring anything new compared to its original version but what is here is a game that features a fun gameplay, very good boss fights and a very nice-looking art style, it just needs to fix its occasional crashing problem but for those who are not familiar with the Darksiders series, this will be a good introduction.

Neither the gameplay annoyances nor the technical hiccups are able to totally overpower a game that has, in the years since its release, solidified itself as much more than a mishmash of greatest-hits series.

The first Darksiders still remains a game developed with competence and most of all concrete passion for gaming; its limits are consequences of both hurry and inexperience. All its flaws were reasonable on old-gen, but the flowing of years has grown them bigger, and this is a thing we cannot neglect by reviewing it today. But we must also honestly say that a very little effort is enough to overcome all these flaws and live War’s quest with the intensity it deserves.

Darksiders Warmastered Edition comes to Nintendo Switch without playable or graphic improvements. Even so, it's a great Hack and Slash, with an interesting story, a good sound section and great gameplay.

Anyone who wants a quality Zelda-style action adventure game on their Switch is going to be better off with Okami HD. Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is a polished and shiny bronze medal. Fighting monsters is as standard can be, and what keeps things stimulating is the variety of the environment, puzzle solving, spectacle, and the exploration to be had. It is satisfying to stumble on a hidden chest and find some upgrade that War could use as it is in most adventures. Often entertaining but not exactly emotionally engaging, Darksiders takes itself too seriously.

I missed this one back in 2010 and I was hyped to get it on the Switch. As advised in one of the reviews I switched to high-performance (handheld mode) and I immediately experienced an improvement in gameplay and experience. I think it's a pretty great port at a great price point. I would have paid full price for this, honestly. Full Review »

And just to be clear I DO KNOW this game in original form is rather old now. But having Switch we do have to remember about it's downsides from which low performance (in compare to XO and PS4) is the biggest one. The game itself is one of best of ports on Switch I played so far, well... excluding Skyrim, hard to beat that one even though it's buggggged in so many ways on every platform I played it. And back to Darksiders - great graphics with no bugs, 60FPS with still great graphics, smooth performance, PRICE, ridiculously short loadings (in compare to Civilization 6 for example which in switch version I absolutely hate). I do recommend Darksiders on Switch to everyone. I really do. And the price of $30 is really great, even for a port (in compare look price for D3, Skyrim or C6). Full Review »

They did a remaster of darksiders 1, which is a brilliant port of a not so brilliant game, Then do a terrible port of darksiders 2, their best game...

Well here you have the first one, its meh! Always has been. Its been released as two versions on every format it can, a 'my first' god of war/devil may cry/bayonetta clone. Its 'bash' with Y and B buttons in combinations of the two, and get more power ups as you progress. Super boring and even in 'apocalyptic' its easy with no challenge.

Clearly never sold well, so its been fed and dumped on every console to recoup the money over 10 years now. Go get the second darksiders, but not on switch, because its performance is train wreck. Even wiiU version of DS2 is better.
