Apr 8, 2019I have not replayed through the Warmastered Edition on Switch as I write this, but I have played it some — enough that I feel ready to report that the game is still great but that this release is quite simply a direct port to the Switch with no new features or changes that I can discern.
-
Apr 1, 2019The original Darksiders remains the best in the series and this Warmastered Edition is an incredible way to enjoy the timeless classic. If you still haven't played it yet then you owe it to yourself to unsheathe your Chaoseater and rip through some demons.

Apr 1, 2019If you’re craving classic 3D Zelda, Darksiders is the game for you. Despite originally releasing almost 10 years ago, it has held up remarkably well. Even playing it my third time through, I still found it absolutely delightful. While its original weak points remain present in this remaster, so to do its strengths shine through. The customizable performance options, coupled with the Switch’s portability make this my favorite way to play an excellent game. Bring on Darksiders II and Darksiders III.

Apr 1, 2019Darksiders is still a beautiful game that follows the classic Zelda formula with an apocalyptic setting and comic style characters. It is the same game released for Wii U, with no additions.
-
Jul 8, 2019An excellent port of a beloved game that doesn’t feel like its age caught up with it. The Switch is a perfect home for this franchise and here’s hoping that Darksiders 2 will be ported as well.
-
Apr 3, 2019Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is now the best of the series thus far, plus an added bonus of beginning the storyline from the very beginning (to subsequently tackle Darksiders II and III, if desired, and on other platforms). Conversely – and if you’ve played later versions and not the originals, give Darksiders: Warmastered Edition a go. You’ll appreciate the forward steps the series took by stepping backward.
-
Apr 2, 2019Darksiders Warmastered Edition is a great game with elements of exploration and puzzles. His artistic design is based on Christian mythology and is really amazing, with good characters and a complete story. Some elements look old but it’s still a very funny hack and slash. It does not have many new features for veteran players, but if you are new to the franchise it is the best way to enter it.
-
Apr 2, 2019Sure, there’s the odd misstep throughout the game’s 20-odd hour running time, such as some challenge rooms that feel shoehorned in, but on the whole Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is an absolute pleasure to play. If you’re after an epic action-adventure game to play on your Switch, look no further.
-
Apr 1, 2019Overall, Darksiders is dated and a little embarrassing, but it’s also surprisingly good. It’s a testament to the robust design choices that Vigil Games made when developing their original title, that each of its parts holds up after a decade of innovation in gaming.
-
Apr 1, 2019Darksiders Warmastered Edition remains as gloriously apocalyptic an adventure on Nintendo Switch as it ever was. With the added chance to battle Heaven and Hell whenever and wherever you like, it comes as an easy recommendation. Not only does it have an impulse purchase-inducing budget price point, but, especially for those that haven’t played it before, it will scratch that Zelda itch until Link’s next adventure arrives.
-
Apr 1, 2019A good remaster of a great game. If you’re into hacking demons and/or angels to bits, Zelda-style puzzles or both, Darksiders: Warmastered Edition will no doubt satisfy you.
-
Apr 1, 2019Although it adds nothing unique and makes some visual concessions to fit the platform, Darksiders Warmastered Edition is a great way to revisit what is now considered a minor classic of the action-RPG genre. With fluid combat and a dramatic, if skeletal story, Darksiders has retained most of the fun-factor that made the game stand out way back in 2010. Playing the game on a big screen in 4K might be optimal, but Darksiders on the Switch is a decent alternative.
-
Apr 1, 2019While not the definitive version, Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is no slouch on the Nintendo Switch. Whether played in graphics or performance mode, docked or handheld, it’s still an outstanding version of an already outstanding game.
-
Jul 26, 2019All in all, Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is a great port of a good game. While it's not necessarily innovative, it is well executed and uniquely presented, something that still holds up well after almost 10 years since its original release. Not everything in the title has aged well, but it still plays and works as well as intended. The only letdown is the price tag of $30 when the Warmastered Edition arrived for $20 on all other platforms almost three years ago. In any case, Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is a great game that's worth experiencing for the first time — or once again on the Switch.
-
Apr 1, 2019Despite some graphical assets from the past, Darksiders's gameplay structure manages to face nowadays standard with some clever game design and a deep, engaging combat system. Switch adds its portable mode to the deal.
-
Apr 1, 2019The roar of the Apocalypse has remained the same as always: fascinating, epic and roaring.
-
Apr 11, 20199 years after its initial release, Darksiders is a still a good pick on Nintendo Switch, that can entertain you with its good ideas and very pleasant artistic direction.
-
Apr 4, 2019The remastered version of Darksiders for Nintendo Switch is a journey to the end of the world, and at the same time a journey back to what we already experienced in the series, and expected that some of them would improve. The gameplay is exactly the same as before, with all the pros and cons, and even the visuals are not worthy of a remastered title. All in all, the remastered version of Darksiders is nothing more than a simple port for the Switch platform.
-
Apr 1, 2019Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is a faithful port of the original that brings every slash of Chaoseaster and every bloody execution to Nintendo Switch in all its glory. While still the inferior entry in the Darksiders trilogy, this first outing is still a robust action-platformer full of satisfying melee combos, open-ended levels and a suitably over-the-top story. Easily one of the most underrated franchises to appear in the previous generation, Darksiders is a solid port that finally unleashes the Apocalypse in handheld form.
-
Apr 1, 2019Darksiders Warmastered Edition marks the return of the Darksiders series and its arrival on the Nintendo Switch after landing in other platforms. It's true that it doesn't bring anything new compared to its original version but what is here is a game that features a fun gameplay, very good boss fights and a very nice-looking art style, it just needs to fix its occasional crashing problem but for those who are not familiar with the Darksiders series, this will be a good introduction.
-
Mar 31, 2019Neither the gameplay annoyances nor the technical hiccups are able to totally overpower a game that has, in the years since its release, solidified itself as much more than a mishmash of greatest-hits series.
-
Apr 1, 2019The first Darksiders still remains a game developed with competence and most of all concrete passion for gaming; its limits are consequences of both hurry and inexperience. All its flaws were reasonable on old-gen, but the flowing of years has grown them bigger, and this is a thing we cannot neglect by reviewing it today. But we must also honestly say that a very little effort is enough to overcome all these flaws and live War’s quest with the intensity it deserves.
-
Apr 1, 2019Darksiders Warmastered Edition comes to Nintendo Switch without playable or graphic improvements. Even so, it's a great Hack and Slash, with an interesting story, a good sound section and great gameplay.
-
May 8, 2019Anyone who wants a quality Zelda-style action adventure game on their Switch is going to be better off with Okami HD. Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is a polished and shiny bronze medal. Fighting monsters is as standard can be, and what keeps things stimulating is the variety of the environment, puzzle solving, spectacle, and the exploration to be had. It is satisfying to stumble on a hidden chest and find some upgrade that War could use as it is in most adventures. Often entertaining but not exactly emotionally engaging, Darksiders takes itself too seriously.
