I have never understood THQ Nordic. They did a remaster of darksiders 1, which is a brilliant port of a not so brilliant game, Then do a terrible port of darksiders 2, their best game...

Well here you have the first one, its meh! Always has been. Its been released as two versions on every format it can, a 'my first' god of war/devil may cry/bayonetta clone. Its 'bash' with Y and B buttons

Its 'bash' with Y and B buttons in combinations of the two, and get more power ups as you progress. Super boring and even in 'apocalyptic' its easy with no challenge.

Clearly never sold well, so its been fed and dumped on every console to recoup the money over 10 years now. Go get the second darksiders, but not on switch, because its performance is train wreck. Even wiiU version of DS2 is better.

Worst game I ever played period

Input lag of at least 1/4 of a second and inputs often just dont register Cannot skip any of the very bland and cliche cut scenes Ugly menu, looks like some jpgs just put on an ugly background And yes I know it's old but can they not just put a little amount of work in this port to cover some stupid inconveniences? Only good thing are the puzzles.

A first-time player here. I missed this one back in 2010 and I was hyped to get it on the Switch. As advised in one of the reviews I switched to high-performance (handheld mode) and I immediately experienced an improvement in gameplay and experience. I think it's a pretty great port at a great price point. I would have paid full price for this, honestly.

Absolutely brilliant game. And just to be clear I DO KNOW this game in original form is rather old now. But having Switch we do have to remember about it's downsides from which low performance (in compare to XO and PS4) is the biggest one. The game itself is one of best of ports on Switch I played so far, well... excluding Skyrim, hard to beat that one even though it's buggggged in so manyAbsolutely brilliant game. And back to Darksiders - great graphics with no bugs, 60FPS with still great graphics, smooth performance, PRICE, ridiculously short loadings (in compare to Civilization 6 for example which in switch version I absolutely hate). I do recommend Darksiders on Switch to everyone. I really do. And the price of $30 is really great, even for a port (in compare look price for D3, Skyrim or C6). Expand

This is the way Nintendo Switch ports should be done.

First of all, before playing this game for the first time, make sure you go into the 'Options' menu, change the 'Performance Mode' to 'High Performance' and turn 'Vignette' and 'Chroma FX' OFF. Trust me, you will be glad you did. While the original game came out just over 9 years ago, the gameplay still holds up surprisingly well,

While the original game came out just over 9 years ago, the gameplay still holds up surprisingly well, and the graphics on display are a testament to how good a game can look on the Switch when the developers take the time to wring every drop of power they can out of the system, regardless if you're playing on a Television or in Handheld mode. While the music is nothing new or groundbreaking, it is fully appropriate and epic when the story beats and boss battles call for it. Also, hearing Mark Hamill's voice in this game is always a delight.

Unfortunately, the game does have some drawbacks such as combat feeling frustrating when going up against certain enemies that don't telegraph their attacks well, and the grind of collecting souls (currency, health, and rage) can be a bit monotonous and can feel like it was designed to pad out the game from time to time, but there have been no game-breaking bugs or crashing issues.

Overall, this game feels like a high-quality offering from THQ Nordic, and while there are certainly similar games on the Switch, there are few that are as well-done as Darksiders: Warmastered Edition; and being able to play it wherever you want is just the icing on the cake.

This game is the perfect combination of hack and slash with puzzle, action-adventure and exploration gameplay. Fans of God of War, Devil May Cry, Bayonetta and Legend of Zelda will feel right at home with this game. The inspiration from the above games is obvious, but Darksiders does not copy them i a bad way; the game is its own great and unique experience. A great port, a lot of references to other universes, for example, the entire game is controlled by Arthas from Warcraft. And there are a lot of such finds in the game - fun, dynamic, no drawdowns with arbitrariness and graphics, and what else does the game need?

Good graphic and gameplay, but I get boring, so I cannot force myself to play it after a few chapters.

A good game with a nice story. The combat system is quite good and the level design is pretty impressive. The game can get a little repetitive and a little boring but still a good game overall.
The puzzles are very good and well designed.
The frame rate has some drops here and there but nothing serious. This is a good action game to play on the go.

It's a decent game and a brilliant remaster of it remaster. It's not very original, but it's a nice blend of Devil May Cry, God of War and a bit of Zelda and Metroidvania thrown in for good measure. The controls are somewhat clunky, but serviceable. And then you get to the spider level, and the whole thing goes belly-up: the environments get exponentially harder to navigate; there are suddenly small enemies that swarm you in ways that have not been the case earlier in the game; and the final boss is frustrating in ways unrivalled by previous bosses. After dying about a bazillion times, I finally gave up on the thing. Expand

    Such a great game.
It combines elements of God of War with The legend of Zelda and is successfully creating an own identity.

It was successful in surpassing Zelda. The Dungeons in Darksiders are more dynamic, more individual and better implemented in the world, than every dungeon in every Zelda since the original Darksiders came out. Furthermore a combination of great voice acting, even in German, an interesting and complex story shows at this time, where and why the Zelda series need to be improved.

The port itself is great and there is nothing to complain about.

All in all, Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is a great port of a good game. While it's not necessarily innovative, it is well executed and uniquely presented, something that still holds up well after almost 10 years since its original release. Not everything in the title has aged well, but it still plays and works as well as intended. The only letdown is the price tag of $30 when the Warmastered Edition arrived for $20 on all other platforms almost three years ago. In any case, Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is a great game that's worth experiencing for the first time — or once again on the Switch.

An excellent port of a beloved game that doesn’t feel like its age caught up with it. The Switch is a perfect home for this franchise and here’s hoping that Darksiders 2 will be ported as well.

Anyone who wants a quality Zelda-style action adventure game on their Switch is going to be better off with Okami HD. Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is a polished and shiny bronze medal. Fighting monsters is as standard can be, and what keeps things stimulating is the variety of the environment, puzzle solving, spectacle, and the exploration to be had. It is satisfying to stumble on a hidden chest and find some upgrade that War could use as it is in most adventures. Often entertaining but not exactly emotionally engaging, Darksiders takes itself too seriously.
