This game is incredible. It’s one of my favorite switch games and I’ve recommended it to many friends. Yes it has some bugs and performance issues but they’ve improved it a lot since launch and there’s nothing game breaking.

In my experience, the game is really fun to play. During my adventure, I did not find any bugs (version 1.0.8-1.0.9 PC). Building your own cult is a very interesting and rare procedure. t was done in a very good and transparent manner. The plot was quite interesting but a bit short.

I really loved this game. I travel a lot and I really enjoyed being able to play something on the go (and weirding out nearby passengers who saw my screen). I got strangely enthralled by my morbid little cult. I have yet to play a "sacrifice them all" run, as I came to like my little underlings too much. I was sad to see their mortal life come to an end.

    Plus:
    - Art and music
    - Delightful animations, and small details in cutscenes
    - Hard but rewarding combat
    - Pleasantly morbid

    Cons:
    - Struggled with performance late game on the switch, framerate dropped.
-Wish the skill/development tree was longer and had more clear branches. Now it really felt like you'll just unlock everything in due time, and when you've done that there's nothing else to do. I would have loved a bit more tactical re-playability.

Some of the things I was supposed to be doing got lost in the many folds of this game, but I really enjoyed my time playing it. I honestly don't know what the reviews are talking about with the frame rate issue on Switch. I bought it there so that I could have it on the go. The frame rate has yet to make the game "unplayable" or even unenjoyable for me. If that is something that you are worried about I'd look for it on a different system as it's available everywhere. The last thing I'll say is that the cute art that it is wrapped in makes the cult setting really unnerving. Very unnerving. Expand

The game is far from breaking the wheel on the dungeon running side of things, but the opportunities for funny interactions and ability to make your own metagame on the village side of the game really makes cult of the lamb feel unique. After putting my time into it and rolling credits, I don’t see the need to go back and felt satisfied with where it left off.

One of the biggest complaints for me is by the end game, my favorite part of the game, the cult village section becomes much less enjoyable due to lag, dropped and skipped frames, frozen movement etc. This may be a problem with the Switch hardware (or just the need for a few updates) but either way it was upsetting for things to fall apart once my village starts to come together in the way I worked towards the entire game.

Many roguelites dig their claws into you with the gameplay and give you that feeling like you have to keep playing and keep playing, but my main pull in cult of the lamb was to get my ideal village built and once that happened right around rolling the credits, I did not feel the need to pick the controller back up, and that’s ok, it respected my time and I had a lot of fun getting to the end.

I’ll keep my eyes peeled for any future updates or DLC Massive Monster has planned and who knows, maybe I’ll jump back in, but for now I can be happy that my Cult is absolutely flourishing

August 24th, 2022 Cult of the Lamb was patched & I was able to finish the Switch version. Prior to the update today, I wasn't able to make it through the 4th dungeon without the game freezing. Even some of the cult management stuff would break the game, but the 1.0.3 patch seems to have stabilized everything substantially.

The story, combat & resource management in Cult of the Lamb are all adequate. The standout elements here are the charm & weirdness, of which the game has plenty. I'd say it's worth $25, but the replay value is pretty low. Once you've had your fun, you can move on with your life!

This game could've been an instant classic, because the idea to play as a lamb leading a cult and leaving for crusades to gather resources, recruit new members and slay enemies is ingenious.
Unfortunately up to this day it's plastered with bugs and even worse with performance issues. All these little freezes made me rage, especially at the final boss of the main story.

The early and mid game are pretty good. After you unlock most things there isn't a point to keep up with the cult building. Also the switch version is rife with bugs. I had to restart from a frozen game multiple times which added on to the frustration andlowered my overall rating

So-so combat and so-so town management systems combine to create a so-so-so game.

I wish either category of this games mechanics had more depth, like either go all the way with the. Combat fleshing it out more and flesh out the town management systems more. The combat just didn't feel tight enough for me or experimental enough so it overstayed it's welcome. Same with the town management,

The combat just didn't feel tight enough for me or experimental enough so it overstayed it's welcome. Same with the town management, it was a bit chaotic figuring out at first that led to some frustration. After figuring it out the depth with the followers felt so throw away that it was really difficult to care about any of them. I really wasn't drawn into the end goal or big picture, wishing a little more was done to make the player more connected with the followers to make the town system more engaging.

It was overall and alright game, maybe a good time sink for some if you have nothing else better to play. There's so many games out there though that do either of the main 2 things this game does better.

I think the cutsey artstyle and camp idea of a innocent little lamb and cult cutsey followers try to hide the illusion of this being a so-so game by distracting with the humor with the premise. Take that away and it's a very basic game.

Fun early on but a lot of it is quite flimsy and seems like it wasn't play-tested. Even without the increasingly frequent bugs and the alarming frame drops, it's a 7/10 at best - the progression is rote, the combat is so-so and the village management gets repetitive fairly quickly.

The game itself it's 9/10! It's an awesome game, i spend about 10-15 hours to beat them. The Switch versions have a lack of shadows and cropped map compared to PC or Playstation 5, everything is zoomed in! If you have more than 25 followers, it's impossible to walk inside your cult. The game have frame drops, freezes, soft locks, is a mess! A lot of fun, but a mess.

    The game itself 8/10 :
The mix of base management and Rogue-like works perfectly, the universe and the visual style are very good too!

    The Switch version 0/10:
Lags even when preparing dishes, slowdowns during fights, softlocks three times in a row on the 4th map ... I gave up on finishing the game on Switch in its current state (1.0.2)

The game is fun enough, but it doesn't run on Switch. Buy on another system if you want to play this game.

The framerates are atrocious. They go from 30 to 5 in almost every night/day transition, when anything happens thats a "cutscene" and any other time there are more than 5 things moving on the screen. I've had an issue that has happend 9 times now that you will initiate an action

I've had an issue that has happend 9 times now that you will initiate an action and the game will just sit there and lock up. The only way to continue playing is restart the game.

Ive had 2 issues which have made me reset the entire save file over.

Ive had to reinstall the game twice because of "corrupt data".

The game is simply not ready to be released on switch.

The game would be a fun one, unfortunately the Switch version's frame rate is extremely bad. Most of the game is laggy but barely playable, during the bosses things got worst and it's very frustrating. I hope they will hire some porting expert to make a proper release since it would be really the perfect Switch game but is really hard to suggest the current version. Wait or buy on other console.

Cool game, with a cool "cult management" aspect.
Yet unplayable on switch, after mid game, you can't fight (freezes, low fps, even crash at some point)

Cult of The Lamb works so well because of how quickly the game feels. The roguelike elements never feel dragged out and too repetitive. The cult management elements never makes you feel as though you have to grind for that next upgrade. Players start the game running and never let up. There is always something in Cult of The Lamb making it an addictive title.
