Cult of the Lamb is a unique game in a world full of roguelikes, mashed together with a management sim that is oh-so-much fun. The cutesy graphics help tone it down, but don’t be mistaken – this is a dark game at times; it’s also a must-play title if you’re looking for something a little different.

Cult of the Lamb is a beautiful marriage of cuteness and macabre, in an adventure with experiences that change every time we play.

Cult of The Lamb works so well because of how quickly the game feels. The roguelike elements never feel dragged out and too repetitive. The cult management elements never makes you feel as though you have to grind for that next upgrade. Players start the game running and never let up. There is always something in Cult of The Lamb making it an addictive title.

Although it doesn't create something new or revolutionary, Cult of the Lamb combines a lot of things that fit together perfectly to bring us a rich, fun and original roguelike mixed with a resource management game.

The captivating cultist simulator completely manages the gripping genre balancing act despite technical problems.

Part top-down action game, part management simulator, Cult of the Lamb is a game that perfectly blends multiple genres, and does so in such a great manner that not even some nasty bugs can take away its shine.

Cult of the Lamb works because it weaves two halves into a complimentary collection. This creates a comforting and meaningful flow between all-out action and cerebral stock management.

Cult of the Lamb proves to be a remarkably fresh take on the roguelite genre, not just in its goofy and creepy aesthetic, but in its smart blending of action and survival mechanics. Gameplay remains tense without ever feeling like it’s unfair and a steady stream of unlockables and collectables ensure that your efforts are always rewarded. It’s just a shame that the performance isn’t up to snuff, at least at launch, as that’s really the only major complaint that we have here. We’d still give this a hearty recommendation to anyone who thinks it might be up their alley; it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but Cult of the Lamb proves itself to be a great new addition to the Switch library.

Were it not so buggy, I would be giving Cult of the Lamb some of my highest praise. It’s weird in a lot of interesting ways, fun to play, and has some sharp ideas. It can make you laugh, it can make you think, and it will sometimes force you to make tough choices. I’m not sure what the state of the game is on other platforms, but right here and right now this Switch version has everything from little problems to the biggest issue of them all, so despite the enjoyment I got from the game I can’t recommend it with much vigor until some serious patches have been delivered.

An incredibly detailed and accomplished game that deftly balances combat with managing your very own occult village, Cult of the Lamb is an amazing game that deserves to be played. But no amount of humour or depth of mechanics can save the consistent and disappointing performance. I pray to Cthulu that some patches can bring this essential title up to snuff on the Switch.

Hades, Diablo 3, Dragon Ball Fighter Z, Bastion, The Binding of Isaac, Into the Breach, Enter the Gungeon, Neon Abyss, Dead Cells…these areHades, Diablo 3, Dragon Ball Fighter Z, Bastion, The Binding of Isaac, Into the Breach, Enter the Gungeon, Neon Abyss, Dead Cells…these are just a few examples of games I own running at a flawless 60 fps on Switch. Many of these games are much more demanding in performance, some of them fully 3D. Most of them are less expensive than Cult of the Lamb.

Devolver, if you don’t have the technical chops to make your game run as it should on the Switch, please have some decency and respect for your customers, and don’t try to scam them into paying 25$ for a half baked, buggy game that can’t even maintain a proper 30 fps.

    Shame on you.

Please make us all a favor and ignore our console. Remain on PC if you can’t code.

The game is fun enough, but it doesn't run on Switch. Buy on another system if you want to play this game.

The framerates are atrocious. They go from 30 to 5 in almost every night/day transition, when anything happens thats a "cutscene" and any other time there are more than 5 things moving on the screen.
I've had an issue that has happend 9 times now that you will initiate an action and the game will just sit there and lock up. The only way to continue playing is restart the game.

Ive had 2 issues which have made me reset the entire save file over.

Ive had to reinstall the game twice because of "corrupt data".

The game is simply not ready to be released on switch.
