Jul 11, 2018The Switch remake of Toad and Toadette’s adventures offers little to convince the returning players: the experience is almost identical to the Wii U version. If you haven’t played the original edition here’s a good chance to pick up a great puzzle adventure, but beware that it’ll end in less than 10 hours.

Jul 12, 2018Quotation forthcoming.

Aug 2, 2018Still addicting like it's Wii U counterpart, and still as fun. Although we miss the bonus content from the latter the core game is still a nice puzzle game for short burst, and fits perfectly on the Switch.
-
Jul 15, 2018If you already own or have played Captain Toad on Wii U, the greater majority of the game is likely to feel identical.
-
Jul 11, 2018Still a fun time albeit one that could do with a healthier dose of fresh content in this Switch version. Walking the line between platformer and puzzler, the game’s light sprinkling of elements from both help create an experience that’s fun for all ages.
-
Jul 11, 2018There is a charmingly competent puzzler here, yet it’s hard to recommend without an abundance of caveats. If you’ve yet to play the Captain Toad and solving cute and charming puzzles, it could be worth a shot if it drops in price, even though the asking price is lower than most to begin with. If possible, and if you own a Wii U, you would be better off dusting that system down and playing it on there.

Jul 11, 2018While this Switch re-release doesn't add as much as some may hope, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is still a delight.

Jul 11, 2018Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker for Switch is measurably better in all ways than the original game — according to the technical analysts at Digital Foundry, the 3DS version is great too — but more importantly represents a chance for many Nintendo fans who skipped the Wii U to finally see what all the fuss is about.
-
Jul 14, 2018Underneath its painfully charming exterior lies an engrossing puzzler, one that rewards careful observation above all else. It was a great game when it debuted four years ago, and it’s even better now that it’s portable.
-
Jul 11, 2018Nintendo’s continued run of Wii U ports has to have a finite end, but while Switch players are getting games like Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker then its best just to bask in it. Gloriously cheerful, charming and enthralling, it’s only diminishing features are its slightly short length and lack of difficulty for seasoned players.
-
Jul 11, 2018No, this Switch version is clearly aimed at those who missed out on Captain Toad the first time around. If that’s you, then there’s no better time to fill your boots: even four years later it remains an absolutely charming adventure and one that’s still a treat to play.
-
Jul 11, 2018If you missed out on Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker the first time it was around, then there's no better time to dive in. If you've played it before though, the new offerings of Super Mario Odyssey-themed levels won't be that enticing, unless you have a kid to bring into the fun for co-op.
-
Jul 11, 2018Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is an incredibly bare-bones port, but that doesn’t really matter in the end. We all know it was originally released on a naff platform next to nobody owned, and a game this fun and charming deserves a second chance. The Switch and 3DS versions are fine ports, and suitable for just that.
-
Jul 19, 2018Thanks to that pacing and emphasis on thinking your way through obstacles, it’s pretty much perfect on the Switch, for playing in bed or on the subway to work. Or anywhere, really, you find yourself wanting to enjoy some of the most relaxed Mario-style action Nintendo has available.
