    Over a decade later, Borderlands still offers righteous good times. The fact that you can now play it portably is just awesome so clear some space on your SD card and get ready to shoot some Midget Psychos in the head.

    After buying this game at least 4 different times I finally took the plunge and bought the legendary collection for the Switch. I've never played borderlands so much or made it so far in my life. I enjoy everything about this game, and I suck at first person shooters. So if I can play it and enjoy it, that's saying a lot. Excellent port. Looks great runs smoothly and a gameplay loop that makes it worth it. I'm starting with the first one and slowly but surely I will make it through the collection. All I can say after putting 35 hours into borderlands is that it's worth every penny. I also play it only in handheld with the joycons… Expand

    I loved this game. Plays best with a Pro Controller and a screen attached. It took me a little while to get started, but once I got into it II loved this game. Plays best with a Pro Controller and a screen attached. It took me a little while to get started, but once I got into it I was hooked and couldn't put it down until the credits rolled at the end. Having completed it as Mordecai I plan to revisit the game and try some of the other playable characters, but I will probably move onto Borderlands 2 first.

    The game runs smooth with a unique cell-shaded look. The Switch's motion controls lend themselves well here and for the most part the game feels responsive. The available weapons and RPG-style levelling make for great gameplay. Sound design was flawless. The various enemies the game throws at the player made my flesh crawl, and so blowing their heads off was incredibly satisfying. The game felt challenging, but not impossible, throughout. And while the story was minimal it still drew me in.

    I highly recommend this and will definitely be playing the various sequels.    … Expand

    Having never played ANY borderlands games before,I decided to try this one out. it makes me wish I had tried this game before,it's so good.Having never played ANY borderlands games before,I decided to try this one out. it makes me wish I had tried this game before,it's so good. the controls are tight and the gameplay runs super smooth. the graphics are what always put me off about this game, and I can say, that I was wrong before. the graphics are wonderful,especially for the switch! note,if you purchase the physical copy,borderlands 1 is on the cartridge, and borderlands 2 & prequel are downloads.… Expand

Think “Far Cry meets Diablo”, and you're not too far off.

    PROS:

    - STELLAR PRODUCTION VALUES: If it's content that you're looking for, Borderlands deliver. It's a triple A game with nice graphics, full voice acting, dozens of huge maps, and enough missions for an extended endgame.

    - FUN CO-OP: I wouldn't care about Borderlands in single player–but the game's low-stakes action works well for co-op, and Borderlands also has a rare and commendable “combo co-op” feature: you can play with another player on the same console and a third or fourth on the Internet.

    - LOTS OF GUNS. I mean, *lots* of them–even though they're all based on random combinations of attributes. The game has enough gear to make every loot fan very happy.

    CONS:

    - NOT MUCH VARIATION: For such an expensively produced game, Borderlands doesn't have much variety in enemies and environments. Play the first hour of the game, and you've basically seen what the entire game is like.

    - LOW STAKES: The game suffers from the classis problems of looters: it ultimately feels shallow. You throw yourself at masses of randomly generated enemies again and again, reaping loot in the process. Rinse, repeat. The story is irrelevant. So is, ultimately, your character's progression, because the enemies are adjusted for it.

    - LOW-SKILLS LOOP: A consequence of the previous point, and the reason for my relatively low score: like Diablo III, this game gives you a feeling that your skills don't count. Enemies will magically hit you from pretty much any distance, making fighting tactics irrelevant, with the exception of cheesing exploits. Much of your precision and effectiveness in combat depends on your gear, not on you. Enemies below your level cannot even touch you, and enemies above your level are impossible bullet sponges. All in all, the game rarely hits a sweet spot where you feel like your skill matters. All that matters is your level and your gear.    … Expand

All the bosses are stupid and easy. And the worst part - it’s absolutely impossible to complete the mission when you need to jump over the prison wall on switch. I watched YouTube and there no issues at all with PC versions. But unfortunately developers didn’t even bother to test that all missions are playable for this port. Don’t waste your time and money!… Expand
