Game for 3-4 hours. NG+ also take 4 hours but it much harder than original mode. Developers wanted to add Endless mode where your have unlimited waves of monsters. Motion control really helps, it much better than without it.

The shuriken graphics are amazing, I mean just look at that thing, at least a few million polygons just on that shuriken

With indie titles I’m always tickled when I encounter something just a bit different that feels fresh and challenging, and for me Boomerang X (though perhaps a bit on the short side overall) fits nicely into that groove. Quickly acquiring the said boomerang, which I prefer to imagine as the legendary Glaive from the movie Krull (yes, it has one less prong and looks different, but this is my Colwyn fantasy!) you’ll very consistently be given some new move or technique and then a series of trials that will push you to show mastery of that new skill. Once you’re rolling you’ll be dashing, floating in slow-mo, and picking off enemies who get increasingly challenging like a pro… though each new and tougher variant you may need to puzzle over before understanding how to take them out. Perhaps the rough handful of hours you get is appropriate, as it keeps the title from overstaying its welcome, but I still would love to see a few more levels of craziness to really push my skills tacked onto the end just to give the solid design its full and fitting due. If you’re a fan of accurate shooting while on the fly and some quick-moving traversal this should satisfy you pretty much completely.

Extremely fun mix of momentum-based movement and projectile aiming. Short but replayable.

I recommend Boomerang X, but with one last caveat – consider its PC version before taking the plunge on Switch. I did well with this edition, but I think mouse-and-keyboard controls might have made me like it even more. [Issue #54 – September 2021, p. 29]

Boomerang X is a diamond of a 3D action game. While it might not offer beautiful cutscenes or clever dialogue, the action itself constantly manages to amaze. The stellar boomerang mechanics are in perfect harmony with the super fast action. For fans of the genre, Boomerang X is an absolute joy from start to finish.

Boomerang X is challenging and has a great combat system. Despite being quite abstract about the story, the desire is to play for several hours on end. Fly and play against your enemies in this amazing game.
