I really can’t recommend Boomerang Fu enough. At $14.99, it packs a lot of replay value and is one of the stand-out multiplayer games on the Switch. I’d put it up there with other great indie multiplayer co-op games like the Overcooked series and Moving Out (Check out our Overcooked review). If you’re looking for a great, local multiplayer title to play with some friends/family, definitely check out Boomerang Fu.

Perfect title for those days when you wish to play some competitive and simple games with your friends. Colorful, fast and fun.

Add in a good number of different arenas as well as a solid mix of power-ups and you have a title that’s well worth trying out at your next games night. It’s just a shame there’s no online play.

With only three modes to choose from, we wish there was a bit more meat on Boomerang Fu’s bones. The Golden Boomerang mode is a welcome change from the standard Deathmatch, but not one that’s going to keep your attention for long, and unfortunately, there’s no story mode or any semblance of plot. There are plenty of gameplay modifiers to alter how the matches play out, but ultimately, Boomerang Fu’s longevity will largely depend on how often you’re able to play local multiplayer rather than against AI bots. Still, it‘s an adorable, hilarious experience that’s great fun in short bursts.

Boomerang Fu is a simple party game that won't bring much to solo players beyond its simple and intuitive gameplay. Local multiplayer is a completely different matter, though, as its absolutely chaotic sessions add a whole new layer of enjoyment for up to six players, which makes the lack of an online multiplayer component hard to understand. Those who can summon up to five other players and are looking for quick but intense experiences will find something worthy in Boomerang Fu.

You can play locally with friends or up to 5 bots and rounds are frantically fun.

More game modes would be welcome but the two that are currently there, Free for all deathmatch and Golden Boomerang, are well executed and it's a very fun package for the price.

The game could definitely improve on the outlining on the characters and maps, I notice people, even those who have played this game a lot with me, falling off of the map constantly due to unclear borders / visuals.

There are also some other issues. Falling off for some reason produces no point loss or point gains for the other player. Meaning if I need to stop someone from getting a point I can just jump off.

I understand that this is a small title, but it'd be very nice to see it expanded upon with more maps, more color pallets on the maps, and more customizability in map selection.

Either way, this game is really fun and great for what it is! Do recommend supporting. The dev is awesome and attentive to the players and fans!
