    I'm only in the first chapters, but it is one of the best game on switch. A good story telling and a really good and fun gameplay. The mechanics are simple but with the legions you can do a lot of things

    First, yes, i played the game, unlike those idiots giving it a 0 (disgusting other consoles fanboys childishly review bombing) or 10 for no serious reasons.

    Second, while the game isn't perfect technicaly speaking, it looks (good artstyle) and runs (stable 30 fps, with some rare drops to 27 fps at worse) fantastic, even without taking in account that it is a switch (for reminder, a handheld hardware) game.
    Third, the story so far is good (i didn't finish it for now but i'm decently advanced) but i won't talk about it because don't wanna spoil.
    Fourth, NO, the 30 fps framerate doesn't impact the fluidity of the combat.
    Fifth, the combat itself is as good as you would except from a Platinum Games product : intense, with a deep complexity, the possibility of doing stylish combos as always. My only complain about this point is the foe locking that i don't know how to use without making the camera go crazy in a fight against multiple ennemis, especially flying ones. But maybe that's just because i'm really bad xD.
    Sixth, the gameplay diversity is dope, with the police cases that make you explore the various half-open places present in the game.

    In conclusion, a great (but not perfect, of course) action game, and a good addition to the now long list of Switch's classics.

    No game is perfect, but this one is pretty darn fun. Dazzling graphics with a very unique Blade-Runner-meets-Naruto color palette, fun and varied combat that give me a Devil-May-Cry-meets-Vanquish feeling; fun side- and main-quests, just an overall joy to play, especially in couch mode on a big screen.

    Planed on getting this game to wait for Bayonetta 3... And man, i wish this game gets sequels. The combat is pretty methodical and chaotic at the same time. The Legion mechanic gives it some beautiful difficulty to master, which is a challenge most people will definitely try on. The OST of this game is one of the best that Platinum has made. Even if the story isn't a great as it could'vePlaned on getting this game to wait for Bayonetta 3... And man, i wish this game gets sequels.     This was my first experience with a videogame developed by Platinum Games and I found it pretty awesome. I think that the Hack and Slash part of the gameplay is very good and very beautiful and astonishing visually. The other part of the gameplay (a more relaxing one, without action and finding clues or helping citizens) gives you a break from the fights and lets you explore and enjoy theThis was my first experience with a videogame developed by Platinum Games and I found it pretty awesome.     About its graphics, I would say they are astonishing for a Nintendo Switch. With a 720p resolution and 30 FPS (without FPS drop in the 99% of the game), the game can be played in an extremely pleasant way, both in the portable mode and in the TV mode.

    Talking about the story, I consider that Astral Chain has a decent story: it isn't bad and it isn't amazingly good. There are some characters that you will find pleasant and others who you won't care about, as they appear like 10 minutes and no more.

    In my opinion, this game is one of the best ones that the Nintendo Switch is getting in 2019 and I extremely recommend giving it a try.    … Expand

    Fantastic title by far , though graphics not 1080 at max 900p docked and 720p handheld, music and gameplay overall very solid, enticing to play again for the 100% , the mechanics and gameplay solid 10 for sure knowing that this game does utilize a majority of the buttons on the pro controller and joycons best platinum game i played so far by platinum games and for sure one of my favFantastic title by far , though graphics not 1080 at max 900p docked and 720p handheld, music and gameplay overall very solid, enticing to play again for the 100% , the mechanics and gameplay solid 10 for sure knowing that this game does utilize a majority of the buttons on the pro controller and joycons best platinum game i played so far by platinum games and for sure one of my fav titles of 2019, definitely a must buy for switch owners, do hope a sequel does come for this game.     O game possui boa jogabilidade, história bacana, dificuldade certa e ótimos gráficos. Os únicos defeitos são: a câmera, que muitas vezes se mostra imprecisa e os fatos de o protagonista ser mudo e não pular. Mas fora isso, o game merece sim um 9.0.

    El juego es fantástico! Historia, jugabilidad nueva lo que le mete su respectiva dificultad, unas bandas sonoras excelentes, gráficos buenos, lo único que no me gustó es el modo cooperativo, pensé que el segundo podría controlar la legión un poco más libre, pero no de ahí, todo genial!!!!!

    El único problema es la cámara. En combates frenéticos se vuelve un poco loca, aunque finalmente te acabas acostumbrando.     Un juego brillante, graficos estilizados y una trama atrapante. El toque futurista del juego le da una ambientacion atrapante y el gameplay es muy divertido, no tiene nada que envidiarle a Nier: Automata

El juego se mueve muy bien en el dock y se nota que han cuidado los detalles cuando se pasa al modo consola. Desde el comienzo de la historia, ya se vislumbra una excelente trama y se empieza con mucha voragine y velocidad. It's pretty amazing that this runs on Switch, let alone being an exclusive, which never hurts! Absolutely reccomended.     One of the best games I have played on the nintendo switch, a definitive 9 game, although in my opinion it still does not exceed xenoblade 2, but it was very close, if the game had not been so linear I would have given it 10 sure, What I liked most was the original battle system.

    Astral Chain is a very good Action game, with great combat and I'm enjoying the story as well. Worst part of the game are the platforming section which there aren't too many so far.

    It's also great fun doing side quests, or picking up cans to throw into the bin, for some reason. If you enjoy action games, this is the game for you.

    Controls - are fairly intuitive but you can change the configuration between 4 loadouts.

    Music - has some great music, especially when you are in a fight.

    Graphics - the graphics look pretty good on the Switch. While not 60fps the 30fps doesn't look bad with the art style they chose.

    Playstyle - Your playstyle can vary depending on which Legion you use. I prefer the Sword and Arrow Legion because of their movement speed. However, you start out with the Sword Legion and have to capture the Arrow, Arm, Beast, and Axe Legion over the course of 8 Cases. Yet each level has things that can only be done by each individual Legion which means if you want to 100% the game, you will have to go back and play each case over as you get each Legion or after you have all of them.

    Customization - you can customize your characters face and hair at the beginning. As you progress, you can customize your outfit and the color from a hat on your head to your boots on your feet. You can also customize the color of your Legions, which is pretty fun.

    Side Quests - there are an abundance of side missions for you to do. From helping catch criminals, you are a police officer, to picking up cans, and helping citizens.

    Platinum Games really made a great game and I am glad Nintendo gave them the freedom to do it!    … Expand

    Platinum games goodness. How to put this, I enjoyed it more than the DMC, Bayonetta games, but not quite as much as Nier Automata. Excellent game, interesting new combat mechanics with the legions, one of the best games you will play this year.

    Graphically I was very impressed. The game looks stunning on switch and runs at a pretty much stable 30 fps. During one battle, and one small area the frame-rate took small dips but other than that I didn't even feel like I was at 30fps, although I don't mind whether a game is at 30 or 60fps.

    There are a few standout music tracks like the opening theme 'saviour' and some others. Overall most of the tracks were forgettable, but definitely not bad.

    The story may be the weakest part of Astral Chain. It's full of tropes that you have seen a thousand times before if you watch anime or not. The highlights of the story is world building and side characters, of which I enjoyed talking to after coming back to a hub area after each mission.

    The game is only about 30 hours long but I enjoyed almost all of the time I spent in it. If you are a completionist then you could spend a lot longer due to a lot of side content and fun challenges

    Overall this game is an extremely unique and a lot of fun, some minor camera issues and weak story aside, this deserves to be remembered as one of the best games on switch, alongside The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey    … Expand

    I really like this game and I can't really put it into words. I originally had buyers remorse just because of how clunky the combat was at first, but as you start progressing and unlocking more abilities it opens up more than other character action games. Unfortunately the game doesn't really force you to use anything other than just regular moves on the Platinum Standard difficulty, whichI really like this game and I can't really put it into words.     First, and i suppose the most obvious part of someone's first impression, are the graphics. I will say that its graphics are very much its weakest point- HOWEVER, its artstyle is anything but. The game is on the Switch, and as such runs at a lower resolution and probably a lower framerate- that much goes without saying. However, the artstyle is incredible in every way. The character models are extremely well-done and expressive, environments are incredibly well-done for such a relatively underpowered console and it handles the cyberpunk aesthetic extremely well. Lighting and texturework, though obviously not as over-the-top as it may be on other consoles, is still EXCEPTIONAL for this system.

    As for story, i can't really say much- so as to not spoil myself, i never looked too far into it. However, the opening segment left me with a lot of questions and ideas about the characters, the background, and overall it was a gripping start and i really did want to buy it myself as a result. So, at the very least, i can tell you you'll be invested in the story if you like this kind of setting.

    Now, the big thing with this game is the gameplay. The concepts here are INCREDIBLY innovative, though i can imagine it would be a little difficult to get used to. This isn't 'just another action game'. This isn't just the next DMC, or the next Bayonetta and the comparisons people have been making are INCREDIBLY unreasonable.
    I can't say anything for combat later into the game, as it may evolve as you unlock new abilities and stuff (which i would imagine you do as with any game like this). However at least from the first hour or so of the game I've seen, the concepts here may not be for everyone. Perhaps some might not find it to be as engaging, or it might be too difficult to get used to the concepts. I can understand that. To say that Platinum was daring with this title is an understatement. This title was no doubt a huge risk on their part. And i seriously appreciate that. Seeing Platinum go to crazy, ambitious new places is awesome and i can only imagine what they'll do next, and it seriously leaves me wishing that other developers would be this bold. Every new year would be a new window of all sorts of crazy and ambitious ideas coming to life, and it'd be awesome! But, at the least, we have Platinum to make our release windows more interesting.

    As for music, it's a Platinum game. A cyberpunk Platinum game. A cyberpunk anime platinum game. Listen to Savior. That one'll tell you all you need to know.

    So, all in all, i don't think this game is the absolute masterpiece others say it is, thanks to its potential inaccessibility, and its clear graphical downsides due to the choice of platform. However, these limitations and risks just pushed them to be even more inventive and creating with the title. So if you're a fan of niche, inventive titles, i wholeheartedly recommend this. As i like to say... "The enemy of art is the absence of limitations. Creativity is just intelligence having fun. Think. Outside. The bun."    … Expand

    This game had me hyped since revealed and didn't disappoint. Pure hack and slash action with rpg and exploration in one package. Not everything is perfect tho, performance has minor deeps and the fog/blurriness in certain areas is kinda noticeable and distracting.

    Great game! I hope they come out with an awesome sequel. Graphics, gameplay, and level design were all amazing. It would have been nice to have the side quests carry a little more significance but overall a must play.

    En muy poco tiempo, literalmente ME ENAMORÉ de este título, al punto que llegué a obtener su Edición Coleccionista. Quien desee obtener una Nintendo Switch, le recomiendo fuertemente hacerse con este juego en su Catálogo. Este es un fortísimo candidato para el GOTY 2019.

I don't have fun with most games because I get super bored quickly and then just either don't play anything or just try a different game. The story had me hooked and really kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. One thing I wish they expanded more on was the Legion Fusion. They kinda just threw it in without explaining anything and never went back to talk about it. Hopefully they expand on it in the sequel. I just finished the game and really enjoyed the final boss fight against Noah CX. The length of the game was about right, it wasn't long or too short. The replayability factor is definitely there. Once you finish all 11 files you unlock file 12 and are able to do missions that Olive gives you. You can get more premium material and eventually the Raven Armor that Akira has during the story. The combat is super fast paced and fun if you know what you're doing. It's really satisfying when you can consecutively get combos off and mow down enemies. There is one thing that I didn't like about the game, and that is some of the Legion abilities. Some of the equiptable abilities don't really explain their functions properly. I'm talking about Legion Rush primarily. I had it equipt for a good part of the game and was wondering why my Legion would do a super sensitive dash that would constantly throw me off ledges and kill me. I wasn't a fan of a few of the Legions, for example the Beast and Arrow Legions. The Beast Legion would get in the way and push me off ledges because of how massive it is, and the Arrow I just don't really use. You would be on these super tiny platforms in the AstraI Plane and would have to use the Beast Legion and it would just push you off because there's not enough room. I primarily used my Sword Legion which is the only one I got to CX. I gave it a 9 only because of those issues I encountered constantly. I'm really looking forward to the sequel.     Everything I’m astral chain is amazing the story is in depth and the cutscenes are beautiful. The gameplay is something that hasn’t been done before. The only problem I have is with the co-op. Not being able to control everything a character does is annoying.

    Great games for those who like A-RPGs/ Beat'em all style. Clearly it is not perfect but Platinum Games put a real effort into bringing something original with a universe of its own. The gameplay is somewhat demanding, the game can be hard sometimes for the casual gamers. Nevertheless, I had a good time on it and once you get accustomed to the gameplay, it's really heady.

    Excellent graphics for a Nintendo Switch game. Gameplay is fun and the optional side missions make this a very entertaining game. The only drawback is that sometimes side missions take away from the continuity of the main story, otherwise it would be 10/10.

    The middle part of the gameplay for me was pretty dragging and uninteresting, but the opening 2 chapters and the last couple of chapters were experiences that I've never experienced when playing a video game. Great job Platinum Games, you have made yet another fantastic game.

    While the story follows a very anime esque plotline where most twist can be deducted a few chapters prior(or even earlier if you watched certain anime this game draws inspiration from) the plot itself managed to captivate me in its own way, the mute protagonist being a less then optimal choice from platinums side isnt bad enough to hamper my enjoyment of the, once again predicable but still, good plot.

    The gameplay can be categoriezed into 2 Main categories, Combat, and non Combat.
    The combat system relies on your legion to get the most out of it, using the Titelgiving Astral Chain to controll him from affar, to bind the enemy in place or using him as a ankerpoint to jump to across the battlefield, towards an enemy, or away from it. The legion attacks on its own and focuses on the target you locked on. you have a basic Attack combo, which expands via upgrades to have more situational attacks(a 360° attack, a dash attack) as well as a dodge. Combat consist of evading enemy attacks, bashing on them and using your legion to defeat enemy after enemy, some enemys are as simple as bashing on them till they die, some others need to be binded to have a clear and safe attack window, others are protected by supourt enemys, underground or in the air, or close by and needing to be severd from their compaion via one of the 5 Legions special ability.
    Bosses present the biggest highlight in any platinum game, and AC is not an exception to it, evading, clearing out mobs, binding the enemy, attacking and finishing a combo with a powefull synch attack with your legion, all there while you need to manage not only your health, but also your legions energy, not forgeting to call it back before it runs out and having to wait precios seconds till its full agian, seconds, that can mean the end.

    Non combat is used to investiage areas for hints of what boss you will fight, helping civilian or simply carying boxes or icecream. These missions are hit and miss, most of them are completly optional, only required to 100% the game, or S+ Ranking every mission, and i havent found any mission that is completly garbage, even if having a Gyro sensor carying minigame in the middle of the game was kinda odd.

    The non combat mssion give a well needed break of the combat missions during a File(the games name for Chapter) and arent breaking the pacing in any way.

    The Music is amazing, the Opening, ending and insert songs are phenomenal, the boss tracks are all amazing, and every track was great to listen too.    … Expand

The combat and its mechanics are great, but I must say the game is not very difficult until the very last missions. But that doesn't mean it isn't fun to play, after all it was made by Platinum Games. Plus, the art style looks sick on the Nintendo Switch, play it!

Astral Chain is a must have for action lovers, it’s enjoyable all the way through and the satisfaction you get from beating bosses and completing levels is amazing.     Loving this game as I love most Platinum games . Only downside is that I felt the story could have been a little stronger . Graphics are really awesome .     The idea of ​​the chimeras that attack humanity that can be handcuffed by a special police unit to use them in combat is great, besides you can even use handcuffs in combat is one of the most original concepts that I have seen and also with the designs of one of my favorite mangakas by the Zetman series, Masakazu Katsura (Video Girl Ai, DNA and Zetman).

    In my opinion this game is a jewel that you should not stop playing if you have a nintendo switch, if you are a fan of the DMC-style action, Nier Automata or Bayonetta, great character and enemy designs, a good story, excellent soundtrack, this is for you.

Plus the RPG mechanics and systems for all your different chained animals characters that are from this void like place. You harness their power and they help you. It’s so cool. I have been playing ASTRAL CHAIN, and it's great from start to finish; the graphics of the game is stylish; the anime art style is great; the music of the game is the best that Platinum games ever made; the most innovative mechanic in a hack and slash game ever since dodge offset made famous by Bayonetta, and the overall tone of the game is a cyberpunk anime; buy the game for all hack and slash players who have a Switch to play it. The only bad thing about the game that makes it a 9, in my opinion, is that you can't jump freely without your Legion, which is frustrating: other stuff like your protagonist being lifeless, which is very not Platinum games inc. to me and other fans of Platinum work like Bayonetta and the ending of the story is a bit anticlimactic, and yeah the story is not great, but it doesn't hurt the experience and the score of the game because it's not the point of hack and slash games, right?, but yeah, and also I am going to complete it someday, and completing the game is quite long, but still fun!!!… Expand

    Great game. Loved every minute of it. The combat is something you have to get used to, but when you do, oh, it pays off big time. Interesting story, twists and turns, all the good stuff. GET IT, YOU'LL LIKE IT. Took me 27 hours to beat.

    Puede que se trate de uno de los mejores juegos para Nintendo switch. En el apartado gráfico soberbio, en el apartado de jugabilidad, aunque un poquito difícil (no es malo, porque muchos precisamente buscan esa dificultad) es también genial si es verdad que lo que menos me ha gustado es el apartado musical del juego, esta es una opinión muy personal pero me parece un poquito taladrante de ahí que mi nota máxima sea un nueve, estar muchas horas jugando al juego con esa música a mi me da dolor de cabeza pero todo lo demás compensa con creces sin duda un gran juego eso si esperad que sea un poquito repetitivo aunque la mayoría de los juegos son los son, quizá mi nota sería más ocho con siete que un nueve pero redondeando se la dejo en nueve.    … Expand
