It's almost 5:40 so I should really wrap this review up. In short, Angry Video Game Nerd 1 & 2 Deluxe is a pretty good compilation. On the other hand, adjusting to its crap factor will sometimes make you rather have a buffalo take a diarrhea dump in your ear.

Angry Video Game Nerd I & II Deluxe is the perfect game collection for fans of the difficult 8-bit games and the Angry Video Game Nerd. That being said, while it’s a great game collection for people who fit that criteria, if you remove the character and humor it ends up being an average old-fashioned action game with a ridiculous difficulty level. Fans of the Nerd probably have this game already and are enjoying it but it seems like it would be a hard sell for anyone who isn’t into retro gaming and the Nerd. Still, from any objective standpoint this game is much better than having a buffalo take a diarrhea dump in your ear.

The developers FreakZone Games have created a pair of competent games that play to their source material well. If you’re into platforming that’s as hard as diamonds and still enjoy the series’s brand of humour, you might want to take these games for a spin. But for me, who hasn’t watched a Nerd video in years and had his fill of NES hard when the NES was the system of record, I’m out.

In myThis is a 9 out of 10 game with an extra point added for all the AVGN nostalgia. For any old-school gamers, this is right up your alley. In my opinion, the only reason anyone would rate this game low is because they're not appreciative of the old-school platform style. The only thing I'd add, is to utilize one of the un-used buttons to flip off the screen/ player or the enemies. That would be funny as hell. Id also have loved to hear actual voice acting. I'd totally be supportive for a number 3 sequel! Full Review »

I’m giving this 10/10 not because it’s like a Mario Odyssey or BotW 10/10, but because for what it is - a retro-style, hardcore platformer -I’m giving this 10/10 not because it’s like a Mario Odyssey or BotW 10/10, but because for what it is - a retro-style, hardcore platformer - it completely hits the nail on the head. It has the authentic feel of old Nintendo games but with modern attributes like quick re-spawns. The levels are fun, it’s hard but fair and not too frustrating (except for a couple of the bosses), and has classic AVGN humour and references. It’s not very long but for the price is reasonable and I had a good time playing. I’m now gonna petition for the nerd to be a DLC fighter in Smash Ultimate :D Full Review »
