After Burner: Black Falcon is much more exciting, colorful, and just plain fun. It delivers addictive arcade aerial combat requiring almost instinctive reflexes, all at the speed of sound.

While the large metallic joystick and arcade unit might be dust in the ether (actually there's the original arcade unit I remember for sale on eBay now) I'm at a point where I can't walk past my PSP without picking it up.

It could've used additional multiplayer options and the overused rock music gets old. Past that, the game play, graphics, customization features and humorous touches from Planet Moon (like a flying cow) make this a game PSP owners should gun for.

Afterburner is addictive and fun, but best played in short bursts. Though the game is sometimes challenging, it never gets frustrating if only because it no longer requires a stream of quarters to keep the action going.

Considerably challenging yet very straightforward, the game doesn’t offer enough variety but it still manages to remain fast-paced and action-packed. If you like a good portable flight combat game then this is the game for you.

One of the better PSP games to come out this year, a trailblazing flight action game that doesn't let up on the gas. It stays true to the arcade roots while also creating a little something new, and it ranks amongst Planet Moon's best works.
