  1. It may sound like a wacky premise, but if you like odd games with a special Japanese flavor, you’ll love this one.
  2. Just as "Devil Dice" and "Intelligent Qube" showed that originality can still flourish in the puzzle genre, One Piece Mansion provides a welcome respite from the newest "been there, done that" version of Tetris or Bust-a-Move.
  3. While not absolutely groundbreaking, the gameplay is really quite fresh.
  4. [It] isn't for kids of the easily-frustrated, and should be tackled only by the hardcore puzzle nut that wants "Lemmings", "The Sims" and an average Japanese living arrangement rolled into one supremely hard PSOne nutcracker.
  5. For those who like this type of game and would like to see a change from falling blocks this game will entertain you for many hours.

It’s a good thing to see a change from the usual block-dropper, but this is tough stuff. [Nov 2001, p.216]

Unfortunately, the game doesn’t maintain any long-term interest: defusing problems and room-swapping tenants are more work than fun and the process becomes tiresome after the third stage or so.
  8. While the gameplay is refreshingly unique (albeit confusing at first), the game itself is terribly short.
  9. The Story mode lacks a story, the only other mode sucks, and without a friend to play against the game is just too repetitive to be worth buying.
  10. The problem is, the raw mechanics of the game are simply quite the logistical chore, with very little chance to even sit back and enjoy the otherwise-entertaining detail animations which might lend some humor to the game.

Contrary to the rules of classic puzzle games, it takes a long time to ick up, but a short time to master. I'll pass, thanks. [Nov 2001, p.167]
  12. Why have Capcom produced a game that once you've played it, you won’t want to pick up ever again?...This is rubbish!

Really inventive charadesign & awesome animations in a quite good puzzle game. Bored players will love it.
