It costs next to nothing, provides plenty of fun and represents one of the better ports to the handheld system. Even casual fans of the genre should check this one out ASAP.

While far from original, Soldner-X 2: Final Prototype is a great playing shoot-em-up with enough interesting ideas to stand out. Best of all, the gorgeous visuals zip by at 60 frames per second. It may be short, but there's more than enough replay to keep this side-scrolling shooter exciting.

It's not the next masterpiece of the shoot em up genre, but it's a very solid, engaging and fun game. And it's on cross-buy!

Soldner-X 2: Final Prototype is all about playing over and over to perfect your runs. A series of unlockable challenges task you with goals like “finish the first four stages without losing a life”. You’ll probably knock these challenges off the list without being aware of them, because replaying Soldner-X 2: Final Prototype is not a problem.

This is a superb version of a game that deserves the attention from the fans of the genre and PS Vita users. Söldner X-2 is still fresh and fun, it let us believe that a future sequel can be a positive step from SideQuest Studios.

Söldner-X 2: Final Prototype is a game made for both Shoot 'em Up fans, and those trying to get into the genre. Although it lacks some basic features and has an annoying collectible system, this is still one of the more addicting Vita games out there, and deserves every penny.

Although it offers nothing new, Söldner X-2 Prototype is a great little schmup for PS Vita. The (60fps!) graphics are nice and it plays just like you'd expect. A little repetitive but the extra challenges do add replay value to an otherwise short game.

Still, those boss fights — those incredible, epic boss fights. However blah the lead-up to them may be, once you reach one it's easy to forget how middling everything that came before it may have been.

Rock solid controls with a couple of ships to use and weapons to level up through judicious management of them, and a good variety of enemies and bosses combine to create a fun shooter. Hard to find secrets and hard to conquer challenges which can unlock a new ship and new weapons also increase the replayability of this very reasonably priced game. Full Review »
